Big 12 Tournament

So damn proud of this team. We just won the B12 Championship without a single All Big 12 First Team player. #FUB12.

Vic took us to the Elite 8 his first season and (so far) to a B12 Championship his second. Fan-f-ing-tastic!

:bevo:

I’m so proud:yippee: this entire team is locked in and ready! Everyone came in ready to play when their number was called especially Moore. It’s actually scary that Harmon is only a freshman. She’s national freshman of the year in my opinion. Nobody in the country can do what she does on both ends of the floor.

This team turned a big corner when Rori decided to step up and be the leader of this team. Where she leads we have followed and she lead us to a Big 12 Championship. I have waited so many years to see us cut down the nets. Like Rori says we aren't finished yet!!

How bout Lauren Ebo?!?!? She’s been playing so well and I’m so glad she was named to the all tournament team it’s well deserved.

I’d love to see her back next year!

Creme has updated his bracket.

Charlie Creme doesn't bother to move us up at all after today's win; I think he's wrong. I could see us being higher than both UConn and Baylor as far as the #2 seeds. Creme does say we ruined Baylor's chance at overtaking Louisville for the final #1 seed.

Baylor is back to a No. 2 seed. All the momentum that the Bears had established on their charge to the Big 12 tournament final was shut down by Texas on Sunday. The Longhorns' impressive performance solidifies their spot on the 2-line, but also drags Baylor back there to join them. Louisville, which had held the No. 1 seed in Wichita for weeks prior to a pair of losses in its final five games and Baylor's 12-game winning streak, retakes that fourth and final No. 1 seed. The Cardinals and the Bears are both in the Wichita Regional.

Moore is definitely going to be a real force next year. She came in like she's played all year long. I'd be remiss if I didn't add that Joanne was a steadfast as usual and I am so happy the team got this championship for her and the rest of the seniors!

Selfishly, I really wanted us to pile it on Baylor, and we had our chances to really bury them today.

My biggest disappointment was with 7 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, up 50-38, Ebo misses her second free throw. A. Moore slides in to grab the rebound and her "easy" layup falls off the rim. Smith grams the rebound, and Baylor is able to convert a long 3-pointer by Asberry. So, instead of being up 52-38, it ends up being 50-41.

Favorite stats:

Texas had 9 turnovers & Baylor 16

Texas shot 82% from the stripe (18-22) not as good as the 84% (16-19) against ISU but they have come a long way in free throw shooting this season and at a great time to get there.

TEMPO. We controlled it. Harmon and Schaefer controlled it. I dont remember much about the first two Baylor games but slowing the tempo down was a HUGE part of this win. As much as i like aggressive, fast play......perhaps this change in tempo was what the doctor ordered this third time. With Baylor having a senior led team...the change is here. Bring on LSU in third round!

This post is why I can’t have nice things. :smile1:

This win was very similar to our last win against Baylor. The jumps shot were falling today, just like they were that night in Waco. Seemed like we made most of our bunnies today, which we didn't do the last 2 games against Baylor.

Like Vic said so many times, the game is a lot easier when you can make shots.

It may sound cliche, or maybe like Vic, or both, but damn I'm proud of this team.

By recruiting rankings they shoulda got smoked.

Damn this team has heart X 100.:hookem2::e-heart::e-heart::e-heart::e-heart::e-heart::e-hookem2::e-hookem::hookem2::hookem3:

We held Baylor to their lowest scoring game of the year! Earlier in the year when Baylor lost to K-State they scored 59. Well done Ladies for a Great win and Championship!

Watching Baylor’s postgame press conference with Nalyssa and Collen, I gained a lot of respect for Nicki Collen. You can tell she has a ton of respect for the game and the league. She spends her opening statement praising our players and coaches and commending us on the win. Collen gives very informative and knowledgeable answers; she doesn’t dance around the questions. Towards the end of the press conference a reporter asks her how she feels after losing when BU fans expect nothing less than a championship, and she starts crying- she is the complete antithesis of Kim Mulkey. DAMN I am mad that we are about to start seeing KM again twice a year. I can already feel my disdain for BU starting to dissipate as I begin thinking about it. BRING ON LSU

nalyssa smiths commentary…not so much.

Where did you find it? I’ve looked but nothing...

Props to Shay Holle for contributing 7 points and a team-high 6 rebounds today. Other than taking a couple of quick shots in the fourth quarter, I think she really played her role well today.

Did anyone see Kobe on the bench this weekend in KC? I don't recall seeing her today. And, I just rewatched the on-the-court team celebration, and saw every player, including Kyndall and Femme, but not Kobe.

During a commercial break a few minutes prior to halftime, Andy Landers was the most complimentary of Texas and Vic that I'd ever seen.

Found it. Thanks. She was incredibly classy. Night and day difference between her and Mulkey.
I found Nicki Collen's post game interview to be very impressive! She was well-spoken, knowledgeable, and very complimentary of her peers... very classy.
