Beto Does it Again

He is going to run on expanding medical coverage with the feds picking up the bill. That will resonate with a lot of uninsured people. And he will talk about jobs and electricity in a manner that will at least sound good.
Don’t care for him and won’t vote for him but I am no longer counting him out. Charismatic aholes frequently do well. See JFK and DJT

If you're a deadbeat who wants someone else to pay for your heath care, you already vote Democrat, so not sure how many new votes there will be for Beta Male.

As I said before:

Beta Male failed in his last race for statewide office, in 2018. He had huge funding, was constantly pumped up by the media as a fresh young leader, and was running against a very conservative Cruz, who could be typecast as a meanie, and thus didn't get a lot of support from the afternoon wino book club crowd. And all this is a good year for Democrats nationwide. He still lost by 3%.

In 22, he's running against Abbott, who can't be typecast as a meanie for the afternoon wino book club crowd, who's won two other races for Gov each by double digits. In a year with Slow Joe's approval rating in Texas lower than the freezing point of water.

Main question will be if Beta Male can approach the 40/60 slaughter that the Abortion Barbie Wendy Davis pulled in 2014, even with her fancy pink sneakers.

Most folks who reach 65 apply for Medicare, so I guess they are all deadbeats, taking advantage of Socialized Medicine 101.
I went to UT when tuition was $81 for a semester. Commie Education for deadbeats.
Public schools, ever attend one? Heard of them?

Good points, mb. I meant the question more as why the Democrats don't know that statement was a poison pill, and therefore why the D party apparatus hasn't quietly told Beta to sit down, shut up, and enjoy his (completely unearned) federal paycheck while he can.
I believe the answer there is that the MSM has not yet told them that the narrative has changed, and until CNN and MSDNC tell them that Beta is being stupid, they won't believe it.

And yes, I believe the gun-grabber element is why we are seeing the NYC mayor trying to take the emphasis and spotlight off of thugs being thugs and instead frame the murder of officers as a 'gun problem.' So we may reasonably presume that the narrative will still surround gun-grabbing, and the Texas Dems will lap that up when Beta vomits it on the campaign trail.

Actually I see it as their amazing ability to ignore reality. They know reality but choose to ignore it and keep on offering crapola.
We see that exact attitude on here

Baring a big freeze in the next few months that bring death and shivering to lots of folks, Beta Male will be dead in the water by March. He's a good 10 points down in the polls now, and that will only get worse as Slow Joe's horrid poll numbers drags down everyone in the Democrat party.

Main question - will Beta Male do better or worse than the Abortion Barbie did, at 40% in 14?

It's hard to say. Ms Pottie-Pants has more grey matter between her ears than Beto, and she picked up some of the women voters who otherwise might not have voted. Beto's got the big $$$ from out-of-state, but he seems to resonate less with Texans than Ms Pottie-Pants--which was not much to begin with. Beto's hoping for that huge ice storm or something earth-shattering. It's a long shot.

She did piss into a diaper on the Senate floor, while extolling the virtues of partial birth abortions. Now that had to be worth 3-5% in the general election.

I'd guess Beta Male gets between the Abortion Barbie, and the tax deadbeat the Democrats trotted out in 18 against Abbott, for general election numbers. The deadbeat got 43, Abortion Barbie got 39%

There are plenty of voters out there who just don’t want a woman in charge. The only reason Ann Richards won was because of Clayton Williams’ big mouth.

I agree that the only reason Ann Richards won is because of Clayton Williams' mouth. However, I don't think large numbers of voters are actually rejecting candidates just because they are women. Lupe Valdez didn't lose to Abbott because she's a woman. Democrats (male or female candidates) lose statewide in Texas because the national party is toxic to most Texas voters and easy to portray as such. She could have looked and acted like John Wayne and been hung to her kneecap, and she still would have lost and by about the same amount.

The polling I looked at from DMN and UT Tyler showed Beto running stronger than I expected, 45-39 for Abbott, with 16 percent saying they would vote for somebody else, who ain’t on the ballot

Also said Matthew the Bongoman was favored over Abbott 43-35

this suggests support for Abbott or Beto is tepid

an ice storm or riot on the border or some other big event we can’t imagine right now could tip things.
I think Beto outruns Abortion Barbie. And Abbott is no Claytie

looking ahead, what happens with Cruz in 2024? I don’t see him getting more cuddly and his negatives are sky high now

I suppose it is very possible national democrats are just that tone deaf to how that sounds here in Texas even in 2022.
The Democratic Party is deaf to anything that doesn't toe the line on the progressive agenda. And even worse, they think we are simply stupid because we won't believe them.

Who's going to run against him? Is Beta-Male going for the 4peat and lose another race? Do the Democrats have any candidates that can compete statewide? None that I've seen. 18 was a good of a political environment as could have been had for the Democrat party of late in Texas - mid-terms with a R in the White House, "young, fresh faced and full of ideas and cool swear words leader", as the media fluffed Beta-Male up. He still lost by 3%.

The polling I looked at from DMN and UT Tyler

Also, don't bother with the UT Tyler polls, like ever. The are constantly fluffed up by the Texas Tribute to push whatever left wing narrative is in favor that day. Let's look at how accurate they were last election:

Biden rebounds to edge over Trump in Texas, as Hegar slightly narrows Cornyn’s lead in Senate race

Biden 3 points over Trump, as of 25 Oct 2020 they said.

Actual results were 52/47 Trump, so off by 8 points, and by who would actually win.

Well maybe they're just terrible and slanted for Republicans, who they probably hate, and donate against. Let's see how they predicted the 2020 Democrat nomination:

Bernie Sanders, aided by Hispanics, bursts into lead in Texas primary, Dallas News-UT Tyler poll shows

The Communist Bernie Sanders at 29, Nanny Doomberg at 21, and Slow Joe at 19. This as of 1 Mar 2020, with the primary on the 3rd - two whopping days from then. The actual result:

Biden 35, CBS 30, Doomberg 14. So wrong winner, and off by 15 - just horrid prediction. A random number generator would have done a better job.

Garbage polls from a garbage outfit. Never trust UT Tyler polls.

I see the Beta minions are already out in full force lying about North Texas power outages being grid-related. Hopefully he gets taken to task for why he is such a liar when we sort out if he is even going to be in the ballot consideration come the General...

Power outages in North Texas, Per ABC Midday News map, mainly North of Dallas. Not widespread yet. Nothing like last year.

mc
I am sure she meant it was NOT poor maintenance or planning that cause the power outage
In our case in North Dallas it was a power line loaded with ice that fell across a major street.
Oncor had it fixed in no time. They had tweeted out an expected time but beat that time.

Lines are part of the grid!!!!!! RU dense? SMH!!!
If lines fall down, that is not an ERCOT thing. Being on a national electric grid would NOT have gotten power to those people. That is a local power company maintenance issue. It is not the 'overload' issue people keep whining about and blame Abbott, et al, for having happened. Instead, it is the same '**** happens' thing that happens in a bad thunderstorm.

Yes. “Grid” is the network of power producers, not the actual transmission system.

But don’t you dare suggest that the Smiths down the road prune some branches off their 100 year old oak tree that are now hanging over the power lines …

From Beto’s website:

“I will keep the lights on in Texas. This guy [photo of Abbott] sure can’t.”
