Berkeley, CA

just rewatched the first half of the game -- and with all the back and forth on tasia (me included) i must say she held her own when she was on the floor and did some nice things defensively that won't show up on the stat sheet. for example, in transition, she outsprinted a wku defender and created a legal "screen" that enabled sanders to score an easy layup. she also forced her man to give up the ball a couple of times by cutting off a driving lane.

i hope the lang we get tomorrow is the one who couldn't be stopped on the last trip to cali with stanford ... and if she shows up and mcgee-stafford plays like she did yesterday ... we'll do just fine.

I'm a complete amateur, but I see Tasia as a defensive specialist/stopper, basket slasher who could score a lot of points there and hence, the charity stripe as well.

I've actually never said anything one way or the other about Tasia that I can remember. I just thought Maxy was hilarious and I couldn't help but take the bait.

I got back to Austin today and watched the game - thank you DVR. Not sure why ESPN2 decided to shoot the game using the blimp-cam but at least I got to see the game.

Two take-always. 1.) If we had passed high into Imani or Kelsi every time this wouldn't have been a close game. 2.) WK played a great game. No shame for either team. Good, tough match up.

Finally I would just like to say that Brooke is just as cute as a bug in a rug needing a hug. Love that girl. For some reason I still think she plays better when she comes off the bench. Just an observation not a judgement.

I understand and I've watched them play numerous games this season, but not against any Sisters of the Poor U teams.
True, but the more one watches, the more one can appreciate the way they play and the standard they have set that others are striving to reach.

jusme828, I agree that Nneka would have been our best matchup with Stewart if the team meet.

From the SFGate: Cal’s Gray takes on familiar foe in McGee-Stafford of Texas

In fact, Cal head coach Lindsay Gottlieb gathered her team after its 78-66 first-round win over Wichita State and read her starters’statistics aloud. Each of them scored in double digits. For once, it was much more than guard Brittany Boyd and Gray carrying the load.

From the Cal WBB forum, Moraga Bear posted link to the Cal pre game interview with Cal Coach Gottlieb. Gray and Boyd. Going4roses posted the actual video. It is just under 13 minutes long.

from texassports.com: video presser for the Cal game with Coach Aston, Imani and Empress. This is almost 17 minutes long.

Well, both coaches agree that the supporting case for Gray and Imani will be very important and likely to make the difference.

.

Not trying to be argumentive in the least. I really do have a full appreciation for Geno and the program he has built. I just can't watch a 50 blowout no matter who is on the court unless it's UT on the winning side of course. :coolnana:

I'm so excited to see the Cal game...8:00PM CDST cannot get here soon enough! :hookem::bevo:

no problem, Hornview, just explaining why I was watching the UConn game. Didn't watch much past the first half, personally.

Then that's on the coach that put her on a basketball scholarship. Define fitness for a female thrower. She's a thrower that plays basketball, not the other way around.

Plenty of players on this team have been injured. It's part of the game and comes with being female
"Being fit" to me means being able to play at least 4-5 gameclock minutes without needing to be subbed out for being winded. There are several stoppages in the gameclock due to fouls, turnovers, etc.

Is the game 8 eastern or central?
Central according to my Uverse guide and the good news is that the competing game with Norte Dame playing is on ESPN so if you live out of state, ESPN2 should be dedicated to our game.
