Berkeley, CA

They threw in 12 three-pointers, most with no defense near. Miracle that we won with so many turnovers, and giving up so many threes. Three point luck ran out for WKU on that last shot, though. Again a wide open look, but she missed it. Horns win, never in doubt!

That was too flipping close for comfort! Thought it was over when Kelsi didn't catch the inbounds. We CANNOT play like this next game!!!! S***!!!!! Glad Brooke came alive after being so out of it the first half! Imani played her butt off! So proud of her! We almost gave it away again when Aston switched to man. Zone was working so well.

They (WK) had more 3's than 2's. Games are too close for comfort because we never fail always are trying to get the ball inside. It doesn't happen well when the posts are that covered. Yes there were some bad passes, but there were tons of good ones that weren't squeezed!!! Turnovers are ridiculous!!!! You're killing me smalls!!!!!! Relieved we got the W, but we CAN'T play like that again!!!

She was wide open for a split sec, then Brady hustled out there and got a hand in her face at the last sec. Prob would never had blocked it but maybe just enough to alter it. That girl can SHOOT!

And on to round two....great win, Horns! We've already seen a couple of upsets today, a #7 lost to a #10 seed, and a #6 lost to #11. And #3 seed Duke barely gets by #13 seed Albany. Never easy to win in NCAA play, and WVU was a tough matchup. Great D and clutch shots by Brooke at the end. Go Texas!

Well, Imani carried the day. While I'm pleased with Brooke's free-throws, she missed the front end of the one and one that made things too close for comfort. Celebrating the win, but so many things that HAVE to get better in a day.

I'm no coach, but not sure how you guys can say the zone worked when they made 12 3-pointers and probably shot 40. They coun't for more than layups. You play a zone against a team who has a good inside game, and not good perimeter shooters (sort of why our opponents play zone against us). Not saying not to mix up your defenses, but so many wide open, uncontested 3-pointers means that our zone was not effective on the perimeter. We left Gooch open over and over again at the top of the key; glad that stopped in the last 7 or so minutes of the game.

******** , she was in for maybe 2 min. She had two shot attemps Your stars have been in the game for two days and not even in double digits. So they get time to shoot 9 times to make three. And someone who has been in the game can't get any attemps or settle down they need to sit. It's not about what some of you say about other players it's the face that some of yall be right in that lone star room smiling in the players faces like yall fans of all the players. I will make sure she reads this so she can be careful when shaking hands or smiling to the fans so she doesn't take any of that fake ******** seriously. This is a fanboard yall can post what you want as fans .
I don't think Tasia hurt us one bit. We had several turnovers and missed shots that would not have made this a close game whatsoever. I actually think she out hustled some of the girls and she was in the right place at the right time which is what we needed. Just so happened her shot didn't fall. She only took two! I will take her hustle all day over ones that walk out on defense. That ticks me off more than anything! We NEED Tasia and the others that have been on the bench! This team has shown that sure they can play AWESOME at times but then turn around and the one or two that just played awesome, have SUCKED it up at times! It happens. This team isn't nothing without ALL of it's members!

They won by 2 if Tasia had convert those 2 shot in the 2 seconds she was in ..it would have been a blowout.

I think you're making this a bit too personal. I see that youre first time poster so I wouldn't expect you to already have read every thread. But I can assure you that we are equally critical of each player. From Nneka all the way down to vanderzee. I didn't think Tasia played particular well (in limited minutes) but neither did Celina or Krystle so she's not alone. You're certainly welcome to express your opinion but I would just hate to have you think this is some Tasia bashing session when frustration is generally expressed all around.

Looking forward to watching the game instead of deleting it! Ugly win is still a win! Thanks for the update.

As for Tasia, I'm sure her day will come as I see her potential, like her speed and she's young and scrappy out there.

Most of those 3's were with a man D. Even the announcers said the zone worked better at SLOWING them down.

Maxy, if you think Tasia did an adequate job today, that's your right. I saw her get one tie-up, miss a layup, and not realize the shot clock was close to zero and turned the ball over. As far I as can see, she was in the game late in the first half because Empress and Brianna had two fouls, and Celina had already proven ineffective. The thing is, when you have been getting limited playing time all season, if you are inserted in the game, you can either make contributions to prove you should get more playing time, or you can make mistakes that prove why you are buried on the bench. Obviously, you have a personal tie to Tasia, so criticism of her play rubs you the wrong way.

Do the other players make mistakes? Absolutely. And when the do, they usually are relegated to the bench more often than not.

There screens were relentless. Playing man and getting single and DOUBLE screened (which I wish we would do) is going to leave someone WIDE open. Wish the coach's would teach (or let) our girls screen like that! It was the best I've seen. Similar to Baylor's.

Agreed, utfan ... We're equal opportunity praise ... and equal opportunity critical when things go poorly. It doesn't mean we don't love the team or any player any less. Tasia has great quickness and I'm sure she'll find herself offensively after a year under her belt and be a prime contributor to the program.

Maxy may have used a different user name prior to the board's conversion, as I clearly recall getting jumped on for my assessment of Tasia's play in one game during the regular season. Granted, he/she misquoted what I said, but that's how it goes on message boards.

So, Maxy really wants folks to go up to Tasia and point out her game mistakes to her in person? Is that really what you want? All any fan will do in person is tell a player "good game", and move on.

Good win, our decision making needs to be a lot better. We did a better job late in the second half of not settling for the three, and putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim. Brooke played very well late in the game, she just needs to make her free throws consistantly and not make so many bad decisions. The good thing is that Cal is a better team than Wk, but they will be a little bit more easier to guard especially for Imani and Kelsey.

We can rant all we want about bad passes, turnovers, etc, but here's why it was close. We shot 8 percent from three point land. They shot 36% from three point land. Just two more threes and we would had a "comfortable" win. Face, it, whether its our personnel or the scheme, we don't have a good half court offense. Our guards are very limited from beyond the arc, and our offense doesn't screen well or produce many mid range jumpers. It is rare that we score more than the mid sixties against a good team. When you make your shots, it covers up a multitude of sins, but too often our guards don't make enough shots. The rest of you can tell me why. I really like this team, but facts are facts. Atkins hasn't been the kind of scorer we hoped for...is that because of her limitations or a lack of good opportunities in the offense we run?

Well ok then. The next time I see Tasia, I'll be sure and tell her she sucks. Will that make you happy? :rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1::rolleyes1:

First, she doesn't and second, anyone who spends ANY time on this or ANY fan board knows that praise and criticism come in large amounts depending on who is on the floor and what the score looks like... Coaches included.

:rolleyes1:

By the way, in case you didn't notice... We won!!!! Enjoy it.

Beating a team to death on the boards they way we did allows you to give up the 12 three pointers and all of the turnovers. Where we needed to be physical is what kept us in the game and in the position to win. Should not have been close, but it was and we found a way to win. Congrats to Empress on a great game and to Karen with the win in March. Hook Em. :texasflag::bevo::hookem:

I give up. For the record, I have never spoken in person to anyone who has played hoops for Texas.

As other posters have said, every single player is going to make a mistake; sometimes they go unnoticed, sometimes they are magnified and scrutinized. The coaches, not the fans, decide who plays and when. The coaches' grade of a player's performances is what is what counts in the end. I doubt Coach Aston sugarcoats a players' mistakes to them in person.

:bevo:#1 this is a FAN board and if players read this stuff they're not doing themselves or their game any favors. They need to be laser focused on what the coaches have to say and that's it. It's pretty simple actually.

I love all the players in burnt orange and feel each bring their own unique talent to the team. Haven't met a single one in person, but would tell them they are special and should be proud to be a Longhorn. It's a big deal!
:bevo:

I can say what I want just like you. It's not about reading the board . It's just that nobody knows who you really are and yall probley some of the same mf's that are in the lonestar room after the gJust say how you feel in person . And stop acting like a ***** because somebody came on this board and said what they wanted to say just like you did. You damn right I'm a Tasia supporter and what.
You sure can say what you want to say. If he/she said Tasia stunk or couldn't play, I could understand where you're coming from. But eveytime someone even mentions Tasia's name you people jump on the board with your cape on. Like i said, if you don't like or can't handle what's being said, then don't read the board. Do you think football players family and friends, no matter what school it is post on message boards? Probably not, because they know someone might say something about that player even if it's not offensive. I don't give a crap if you post on here or not, just trying to help you.

Do you even know what two-faced means? It means you say one thing in private behind someone's back and something else in public to their face.

Now go back and read your posts. I'll be waiting here when you get back and we can talk some more about how you aren't making any sense.

Are you by any chance from Seattle?

Good gracious I'm just sitting down to watch the game and I hate the camera angle and the cluttered screen. CBS needs to give ESPN some lessons on how to broadcast the Big Dance! Dang.....
