Baylor Mind-Blowing

I have been reading the news stories out there and the tweets on other sites to get the full picture of this thing. This scandal is really UGLY for Baylor and Briles.

If that woman was my daughter or a relative, I'd make sure we sued BU's *** off.

This Baylor scandal is as deeply disgusting and nefarious as the murder of that basketball player a few years ago.

So, we know today how the Judge sentenced Ukwachu... very lightly IMHO.

So, how will the Baylor cigar chompers handle / take action on Briles?

I contend Briles knew everything about Ukwachu's background, he took the risk, he lost, now it is time or HIM to pay the price IMHO.

He was sentenced to 180 days in jail. Are you freaking kidding me????!! are we talking about rape here? what kind of message does this send to women at Baylor if you report a sexual assault? WOW!

Yeah, that sentence flies in the face. What the hell is up with Waco? Guess they don't want to be associated with the downfall of the HC and the Baylor administration.

Well, we wouldn't want to ruin the young man's future!
Where is the accountability?
When do we make some of those guilty REALLY due some time and pay for their crimes?
What about the future of the young woman he raped?

Briles will likely be reprimanded and sentenced to community service, which will include limited trips to "his favorite Starbucks" and having to eat once a week at The Elite Café.

As for the "Starbucks" comment, if you don't know, he doesn't go there for the coffee.

Worster,

Don't worry about the young woman. I'm sure her family has been provided a lifetime supply of groceries from the McLane distribution company. After all, they are running out of things to name after victims.

I read that she's having PTSD problems since the incident. She's also afraid of men. Sad. No justice.

This thug get's 180 days of a cot and 3 hots in a minimum security facility. SHE gets a lifetime of PTSD and life dysfunction.

Sabre claims Briles will get a slight reprimand limited Elite Café & Starbuck's visits.

Oh & she was a virgin too. Man I'd sue the crap outta that POS university and HC.

I read somewhere that BU posters on their website trying to defend Briles & the brand (if there is one), called her a "slut" until someone shut them up when he brought up the fact she was a virgin prior to her rape by this animal.

I forget Ken Starr is the University President at Baylor and is calling for an independent review of the situation. YEAH that "Ken Starr". lol

The real head scratcher is the jury recommended 8 years prison time but the judge turns around and changes it to 180 days. What was the point of having a jury trial if the judge is going to hand out his own verdict? Man I would be pissed if I was on that jury.

Aries,

The jury recommended 8 years PROBATED, meaning he would serve ZERO time. The judge added the 180 days, with no bail for appeal, and extended the probation from 8 to 10 years.

The head scratcher is why the jury recommended that. A friend sent me this info:

* The rape kit found abrasions and trauma to her private area.
* It was said in court that she was a virgin.
* His exgirlfriend testified he was violent and threatened her and her friends.
* He was kicked out of BSU for team violations.
* His roommate, Peni Tagive, was found lying and in contempt of court. He claimed he was in the apt. when the alleged attack occurred at 12:30AM. Tagive said he heard nothing ... but when confronted that his cell phone was pinging off towers all over WACO that night, he refused to testify.
* The University shrink testified that the victim had PTSD.
* She was forced to transfer

Does Baylor have a rival? They are so piss ant'ish and a blip when it comes to any momentary success unless killing and drugs are going on I am wondering who their "rival" would be. Oh, I know. True morals and goodness. They are their rival when you break it down. (the fans who made excuses and still do, those involved in this sordid matter)

If there is a rival other than listed above I hope that he is in a cell block chock full of fans of whoever it is. May they give him repeated rigid support and um, admiration in a special way.

If the interview with Ketch is the one I heard replayed later yesterday afternoon (Thur, 8/20) by Chad on 104.9... the guy pretty much told Ketch this kind of stuff has been going on for years at programs, told Ketch to grow up and get out of his little small incubated space he dwells in. Something to that effect. I was in heavy 183 traffic and not able to follow it super close...and they were hollering at one another.

Article from the Olando Sentinel via a poster on another site:

I don't care how many games he's won or how highly Baylor is ranked, Art Briles should be fired as the head football coach.

Not only that, but every woman at Baylor should get together and file a class-action lawsuit against Briles for bringing a rapist onto campus.

Briles now joins Nick Saban in the Crimes Against Women Coaching Hall of Shame for using his football program as a halfway house for miscreants and degenerates who abuse women.

Baylor defensive end Sam Ukwuachu was found guilty Thursday of sexually assaulting a former Baylor women's soccer player who was just out of high school and in her first few weeks of college when Ukwuachu raped her. She could have been your daughter or mine.

The question Briles and Baylor's administration need to answer is why Ukwuachu was even on campus after he was kicked out of Boise State in 2013 after he allegedly choked his former girlfriend and punched her repeatedly in the head. Another question: How can Baylor's administrators look themselves in the mirror after conducting such a shoddy "internal investigation" into the sexual assault that the judge reportedly wouldn't allow it to be used by Ukwuachu's lawyers during the trial?

Now, laughably, Baylor says it will conduct an internal investigation into how it handled the internal investigation of sexual assault against Ukwuachu. Can you say cover your butt?

Presumably, Briles mistakenly figured it would be OK to just steal a page from the playbook of Saban, the Alabama coach who signed 340-pound nose guard Jonathan Taylor after he was kicked out of Georgia for two felony charges involving domestic violence. Taylor has since been kicked out of Alabama after he was arrested again on domestic violence charges, and the SEC has enacted a new rule prohibiting league schools from accepting transfers with histories of domestic violence or sexual assault.

It seems ridiculous that leagues would actually find in necessary to enact such a rule. Shouldn't common sense dictate that academic institutions of higher learning protect their student bodies by keeping such criminals off their campuses?

Apparently not when you have win-at-all-cost coaches like Briles, who pathetically tried to play dumb on Friday and act like he had no idea why the Ukwuachu got kicked out of Boise State. He said former Boise State coach Chris Petersen never told him about Ukwuachu's violent past in 2013. "No mention of anything beyond Sam being depressed and needing to come home. So that was our information. And that's what you go by."

If you're buying that story, I've got a nice surf shop in Omaha I'll sell you. Petersen essentially called Briles a liar Friday when he said he "thoroughly apprised Coach Briles of the circumstances surrounding Sam's disciplinary record and dismissal."

There is a tidal wave of change happening at college universities about sexual assault and violence against women. The times are changing about how the public reacts to this issue and how the federal government handles it. Yet some schools and their coaches aren't totally on board.

This isn't about deserving a second chance. It's about universities and coaches being held accountable for recruiting decisions that put their student body at risk. Whether he knew it or not, Briles signed a football player with a history of violence who was convicted of raping a Baylor soccer player after coming on campus.

“It's economics,” Redmond Brown said. “Say a school gets sued for Title IX. [The Office of Civil Rights] levies a maximum of a $250,000 fine. A booster could pay that. The victims' settlement comes down to insurance. Big deal. So what's the penalty? If there's a need on the team, they're going to weigh the cost/benefits at these schools.

The sad thing is influential men such as Briles could be part of the solution to sexual assault on campus. Coaches could send clear messages with actions, not words, that they're not going to add players who commit violent acts against women.

The jury assessed 8 years in prison and recommended probation. The judge, as required, sentenced him to 8 years in prison, but suspended the imposition of imprisonment, and placed him on probation for 10 years. In addition, the judge required him to spend 180 days in jail, the maximum that the judge could do. If he violates the terms and conditions of his probation, it could be revoked, and the original 8 years in prison imposed. He would probably get credit for the 180 days he had already served if that occurs.

I was a district attorney back in the day (40 years or so ago) and have been a district judge since 1988, and I think what I just said is accurate based on the information that I have.

the guy pretty much told Ketch this kind of stuff has been going on for years at programs

Hate to say this, but, is he wrong?

He was sentenced to 180 days in jail. Are you freaking kidding me????!!

Where are the Boondock Saints when you need them?

She could have been your daughter or mine.
She gets a lifetime of PTSD and life dysfunction.

I understand where both those comments are coming from, they are both common things to say in these situations, and I think the intent behind them is good. But I'd like to suggest they are both deficient in certain ways as well. The first one seems to assume the reader will be male, and then that males need to have a female be related to them to really think properly about a crime committed against a female. The second one seems to imply a complete hopelessness as if victims of traumatic crimes cannot recover and their entire future is already doomed.

I'm sure a certain kind of recruit will find it appealing to know that "Iif you want to rape a cooed, the University, the Head Football Coach, the local newspaper and the police will do all they can to protect you ... and we're working to get a more Baylor-friendly DA."
