Band and Cheer Stuff

Okay, those of you in the DFW area, I hope to see you at the Longhorn Band rehearsal at Richardson High School on Friday at 3.

Anyone know if we are bringing full band to Aggie? I remember marching there in 1991. Some dumb Aggie corp member plucked the Stetson off one of our trombones and ran off with it. But man it was fun marching there. And I think their fans still give us a lot of respect for the Amazing Grace show after the bonfire tragedy.

The aggy show was the aggy show. The only change in the 50+ yrs I've watched is the addition of The Ballad of the Green Berets. In that performance the only change was the silent T march-off.

The Longhorn Band put on an inspirational & spiritual performance. I still get a lump in my throat when I hear it. I've never heard a more beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace.

LHASOB
You remember it more favorably than I do. And maybe you are right BUT the factual history of aggy toward UT doesn't suggest any kind emotion toward Texas

6721,

My experience has always been that the great hatred came from Aggie classes of late 40s thru the 50s. I would have thought that their anger would have been directed at Baton Rouge, since their administration scheduled a ten year contract with LSU, ALL in Baton Rouge. I have NEVER experienced so much anger and hatred as the "old Ags" demonstrated towards individuals from Texas.

The halftime performance following the bon fire really seemed to mellow those old guys. I had more than dozen, who previously would never speak to me, seek me out to tell me how stirring the performance was and how much they appreciated it.

As much hatred as aggy ever held for all things UT, they held equal contemptuous disdain for Tech & whomever Mike Leach was coaching. That guy held a Doctorate Degree in getting under aggies' skin.
