ARKANSAS DOESN’T SUCK

HSG,

Welcome back. Go by Herman's and have ribs (I like their burgers) for us, then a good scotch at Carnall Hall while the traffic clears.

:hookem2:

The only relevance that history has on this game is that the crowd will be loud, like many other venues.
Nostalgia feels wonderful, mostly, but the game is played and won or lost on the field.
We will take care of business and win.
In Sark we trust.

Looks like I haven't logged in or posted in 10 years. As you might imagine, this is the week of the year for me. Grew up in the 80s, brainwashed by my family to hate everything UT (although I grew a healthy respect in my adult years). Yes, this is our Super Bowl. We can lose the rest after Saturday. Go Hogs Go
I love rivals in college football. You weaklings left for a weaker conference and abandoned recruiting Texas. Looking forward to a great renewal game Saturday. We will win once again.

Coach Sam Pittman was interviewed today about the upcoming game.

- He's educating his players about the Texas rivalry
- Been working on special teams, esp. punt team
- Complimentary on Sarkisian's scheming and play calling; liked our unbalanced looks
- Comes across as a nice guy; humble
- Bijan Robinson is a special special player; hard to tackle; elusive
- WR Burks was still a bit hurt and had an off game against Rice
- Card's mobility will present an added challenge
- Jr LB Andrew Parker started against Rice and did well
- LB Bumper Pool is out for the first half for targeting Rice; Parker is good
- To prevent targeting fouls, they're going to start tackling lower...
- The punishment for targeting is too hard
- Hogs DL will rotate a lot, and he thinks they've got the 2 deep to do it.
- Texas' iso play followed up with the belly run with a fullback in was some throwback football he appreciated.
- He's coaching the QB to throw the ball away when in trouble - Hogs have got to do that.
- Texas' D-front is very sound (You got that right, coach!); Coburn will be a challenge
- He thinks Overshown and Brockermeyer are both very good.
- Their center had some bad snaps; they've been working on that
- He expects we'll put an extra guy in the box frequently and make QB KJ Jefferson throw it; he sees it coming and KJ Jefferson will just have to execute.
- Games involving Texas have a "dynamic atmosphere"
- Bishop and Brooks will handle returns; Bishop fumbled; anticipates improvements in returns
- KJ Jefferson is taking a lot of (unfair) heat from fans for a lousy 1st half against Rice; Re: backup QB Malik Hornsby would give them something different, but KJ is the guy.
- Hogs made a lot of mistakes vs Rice; "It is what it is."
- Multiple questions about the DL; the interviewer(s) are obviously concerned about the Hog DL. Coach--the DL will get a lot better...

Arkansas linebacker Bumper Pool ejected for targeting

It's hard to dislike a guy named "Bumper Pool."

Nonetheless, Arkansas still sucks.

^^^ Bumper Pool?

I dont dislike him, prolly a nice kid. But, were his parents drunk or high the night they picked his name?

I would never pick a name for my kid that would bring any more ridicule than "normal".

Understand the Horns game is the first sellout for the hawgs since 1917.

Oops meant 2017.

Shows you hawg football has fallen on hard times in the SEC, SEC, SEC!

I must admit that when I heard a couple days ago that the UT game in Fayetteville was a sellout with SRO, my initial thought was "They like us. They Really Like Us."

Sooooo, we won't see LB Bumper Pool until the 2nd half. Seems the lad was flagged for targeting a Rice player. If your arky, this ain't good one of your best / better players on D will be out an entire half.

Bijian is licking his chops!

This game is expected to break the all-time attendance record for Arkansas. Does any other school feel this strongly about a largely un-reciprocated "rivalry" with a team they only play a couple of times a decade?

Earlier today I discussed the whole Hogs-Hate-Texas thing with a colleague of mine down the hall, who was born in Texas but then her family moved to Arkansas, and she got her BA there, then moved back to Texas (decades ago!), and identifies as a Texan who happened go out-of-state for college out of convenience and necessity ... anyway, she related to me that (1) yes, Arkansas people really hate Texas; (2) they view Texas-Arkansas as a great rivalry; and (3) she could not get them to understand, ever, that aggy was UT's traditional rival (back in the day) and that OU was the great out-of-state rival ... and that Texas never really viewed Arkansas as a rivalry game.

Not true. I would argue that for much of DKRs time at Texas, Arkansas was easily the #2 rival behind Oklahoma. aggy was an afterthought, distantly in 3rd place in the rivalry race.

Truism! Add the fact that Coach Broyles & DKR were close friends, and A&M coaches office had a revolving door with ten straight losses to Texas, The Ags were not even a "ri" much less "rival"

I'm old school and know Horns history with this rival. Hog fans have a longtime red hot hate for Texas and UT. Some would say they hate UT more than they love their team.

Many in that state and fans have had a longtime inferiority complex. Maybe less so now than in the 60's, 70's, etc.? The fans generally believe the Horns have generally gotten the best of them. Many of them old enough have never gotten over 15-14 Horns win 1969.

I have no doubt their team and fans will be jacked up for the Horns Sat.

I was at the game with BAOKLAHORN the last time the Horns played arky 2008. Colt & company disemboweled the hawgs 52-10. The beatdown was so bad, arky canceled the return game in Fayettenam the next season. So this game is the make up that canceled game.

Reading DCTF, other articles and Chop's crack scouting report on arky, me thinks the hawgs are outmatched by the Horns. Hell, they struggled until late 3rd qtr. to beat Rice, at home!

I have a high level of confidence Horns win this game.

Thank You WorsterMan for a great report.
Most enjoyable slaughtering the Hogs 52-10 in that 2008 game. We were hollaring for John Chiles to complete a drive for a TEXAS TD when he fumbled or threw a pick.
Still remember that pig head stuck on the end of a long tall rod on a TEXAS tail gators barbecue grill. We called it " HAWGUSTUS CAESAR" !!! LOL

BTW I still like I think it is Poms who pointed out Bevo put his horns down when he attacked
I like it
Take it away from all the POS
