Arch Manning to Texas

Gotta disagree. Unless Ewers flames out, Manning will not be the starter until 2025. Don’t forget that Ewers is as highly rated as Arch.
And that is probably the thought process for choosing Texas. He does not come in with the added pressure of carrying a team on his back, especially one that is rebuilding. He will get enough pressure from expectations of a quarterback with three top quarterbacks in his lineage. That creates extreme expectation by itself and so having a bit of cover with Ewers is smart. If in time if he has not earned the starting job and feels he needs to be a starter somewhere, there is the portal, letter of intent be damned. Chris and Major did not have that option. And as good as Mack was, managing the competition at quarterback was not his strong suit. Sark will have to do better at this, but it is a g0od problem to have.

I hope he sticks because he seems to be good kid, as well as a hell of a football player.

yea Prod that is what I kinda meant
He is not expected to save us right away
AND he can walk around and be mostly normal.
I think that is what the Mannings want for him
From what I've read it seems that was one of the selling points for the Manning family. They want him to redshirt and learn the system so he can compete for the job in 2024 when Ewers presumed to go pro. Texas idealy should be well oiled offensive machine by then and Arch should take over. Kinda reminds me of Peyton chasing the Natty at Tennessee and was almost there and I think he played four years there...he wanted that Natty bad. Then goes pro and T Martin walks into a well oiled machine Tennessee offense and won the Natty.

His football IQ is going to be thru the roof. Started since he was a freshman and has been watching game film with his uncle's since the 5th grade. WOW

Texas Longhorns have now landed the only three "perfect rated" QBs in history.
(VY, Ewers, and now Manning)

As an aside, Longhorns currently have committed or on campus the #1, #1, #2, and #12 QBs in their respective cycles...
Wow
(Though doubt both Murph and Card stay)

(A friendly reminder that Hudson Card was #2 in his class, for those who keep thinking he was a throw in or afterthought)

Big tyme
:hookem:

Crazy Trevor Lawrence didn't make that short list. Had all the arm talent and NFL QB measurables in high school. Was 52-2 as a starter and led his team to two state titles. Didn't lose a game until his Sophomore year at Clemson. Oh btw he won a Natty as a true freshman.

The test will be September 10th. If Texas can remain competitive for 4 quarters, the doubters will diminish in numbers. And if somehow we can pull off the upset, it’ll be “Katy bar the door.” Unlikely, but (imho) an inferior team 90 miles to the east did it last fall, so you never know.

About that September 10th Bama game, I’m going to appeal to the highest level of Fox Sports, expressing my great dissatisfaction about the 11AM start time. For me it’s a matter of personal safety. I can’t go to the game because I can’t take the heat. That is, unless someone invites me to a suite. My expectation is that fans and perhaps players will be dropping like flies.

Haha
Don’t worry, those words will be issued soon enough. I predict during halftime against ULM some football guru here with about 4 Natty Lights will issue a statement in that regard.

If it only takes 4 natty lights for someone to make that kind of statement during that game they should consider themselves a failure in life.

Yessir, that was my point.

After tough UT losses, I ban myself from HornFans for 24.5 hours because of the strong emotions from good people here who are as frustrated as I am.

Feeely admit, without shame- I am that guy that feels like UT is going to crush it every year.

We crushed it last year for 2.5 quarters.

So Arch Manning is clearly the most recent highly coveted UT commit that got much hype and buzz. Maybe one of the biggest....

A few others off the top of my head:

Quinn Ewers (portal diffused it some)
Vince Young
Earl Cambell
Steve Worster
Linus Baer

Who am I forgetting?

Edwin Simmons
Chris Simms
Cory Redding
Shea Morenz (yeah I know...)
Eric Metcalf was a pretty big deal but recruits didn't get hyped as much back then

Oops...I thought you said HF commit.

In case anyone missed it yesterday....

In the wake of Arch's commitment....and as expected...we nabbed 5 new '23 commitments over the weekend with more pending.

Arch Manning to Texas: Longhorns' fallout after unprecedented recruiting weekend momentous

The effect is real and we will see more.

The staff is killing it right now and seemingly checking all the boxes.
We will see if game preparation, in game adjustments, and overall coaching and team fortitude come Fall weekends can match the efforts and apparent progress in culture building, recruiting, and off season moves and preparation.

Chris Simms... VY has stated it was Simms coming to Texas that brought him to the 40 acres.
