Arch Manning to Texas

Wow...I'm use to us making the final 2-3 cut, then to find out, once again, we're the bride's- maid. Over the past few yrs we have gotten early commitments from high level targets only to have them switch. So until Arch signs his LOI, I'll remain cautiously optimistic. But I really don't think he will string us along then switch. He (& his family) has done his homework & I think he will stick to his word.

I wasn't born a Manning family fan but over time I've become one. The Manning's are top tier royalty of American football. I have nothing less than the utmost respect for them all. VERY happy about this news...CUDOS to Sark & Co for getting this done.

HOOK 'EM!!!!

There will be plenty of pressure from the media I suspect - but it's not like he's going into a QB room with no talent and it's on him immediately. No one is going to look at him in three years and call him a failure because he hasn't won the starting job yet. At least I hope not... that would mean that Card and Ewers both crapped out, and I just don't see that happening.

yea Prod that is what I kinda meant
He is not expected to save us right away
AND he can walk around and be mostly normal.
I think that is what the Mannings want for him

This may be one GOOD thing that comes out of NIL. In the past, a guy with that sort of resume comes in and it's "How quick can I get on the field so I can go get paid?" All of a sudden now, it's a lot easier for a player to have a more long-term approach. I'm making plenty of money, there's no pressure. I can focus on the process and development.

Doesn't mean it'll happen that often, but I think there will be a few guys who will be more open to that approach now. If that helps us get away from this constant QB portal rotation, it's a good thing.

But I’m not sure the boosters who put up the $$$ are not going to bring some pressure to see their $$ get off the bench.

I've been deliberately avoiding following Arch Manning's recruitment out of a sense of self preservation.

After having seen his highlight films for the first time today, all I can say is he' s got a crazy quick release.

Wow.

Should be fun times at DKR the next few years.

Gotta disagree. Unless Ewers flames out, Manning will not be the starter until 2025. Don’t forget that Ewers is as highly rated as Arch.
I just watched through the Manning highlights and then Ewers’ junior year highlights—my eye test is that Ewers has a better arm by about 5%. The Manning name and mystique is more than an intangible, though—it sets him up for instant leadership recognition by the team. These guys are really good.

aggy...trying to do "higher math" upon hearing the Manning news to see if he will play them...

Gomer: Ruh-ruh (slowly lifts fingers to count) Uhmm..lets see thats 2023 + 2024...no, no, no, wait...uhmm....thats 2023 + 1 + 2024....uh err no wait..uhm...2023 2024 2025...
...AWW FURK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It appears Sark and staff are doing everything they can to make everything as normal as possible for Arch. He is still a kid. He doesn't need to feel the pressure of being the second coming of Peyton or Eli.
From the Mannings handling to Sark's handling this looks to be a winner for us and Arch.

:bevo:

I'm not kidding that I've already seen aggy facebook posts wondering why Arch would commit to Texas since he wouldn't even play a snap in the SEC. I can't believe how brain dead those people are.
