Another shooter -- usual suspects scramling on blame game

And the politicization is in full swing. Link. If you call for prayer for the victims but not brainlessly and kneejerkingly jump on the logic-devoid, emotion-ridden gun control bandwagon, you're bad.

Agree and it is sickening to watch. I flipped between CNN, Fox and MSNBC and the angles were all polar opposite and clearly embedded with political views rather than fact reporting.

The irony and double standard is back in full force. It's ok to make fun of Christians and the "futility" of prayer, but don't you dare make any statement against a Muslim. They have rights you know, and they aren't all the same. Also, EVERY Christian is a Republican who is against abortion and wants all the gunz. Democrats are sage and say wise things after these tragedies. (it ISN'T a terrorist attack)

Also, "praying isn't going to help!", right? Saying things like, "our hearts go out to the victims and their families" and, "my hope, once again, is that this spurs conversation and action" (both courtesy of Obama, who has had 8 years to fix this problem) is SO much more helpful. Or, just repeat "we need to stop these mass killings". If you say that, you mean business, by golly!
How about an idea? Without any specifics, these comments are as inconsequential as people say prayers are.

The problem is, there is no solution. California has every strict gun law ever wanted, and it did absolutely zero to stop this.

The male shooter, a devout muslim, reportedly traveled to Saudi Arabia and brought back a bride earlier this year -- then he grew a beard.

Sounds like workplace violence to me.

Hey Joe Fan, I get a lot of blank posts by you, both at work and on my iPhone . I figured they had something to do with Twitter or some other social media, which is blocked at work, but if that were the case I'd think the iPhone would show them.

I had that issue once, then realized my iPhone was connected to the office wifi network. You would need to be on 3G/4G to get blocked content. Could that be your issue?

You're a pretty good analyst NJlonghorn. That was it.

I dont really know how to fix that ....
edit - ah^

Predictably, Obama exploits this tragedy to call for more gun control. But of course he ignores the fact that California already has the most strict gun control laws of any state and these laws completely failed to prevent this incident. Its ironic that the left makes fun of people for praying but ignores the foolishness of advocating more government regulations that have utterly failed.

I'm so tired of this ****.
I know of no other religion where people can be considered "devoutly religious", pray daily, study the doctrine deeply, and find violence as the answer.
I'm tired of the Dem leaders always first pointing out that it is a religion of peace.

I'll argue with people who condemn all Muslims, but I can't argue that for some adherence to that religion inspires oppression, violence and a devaluation of human life, their own included.

Some nut job on CNN said that the office Christmas party "may have been offensive to him".

That will start it! The Mainstream Media will now get to work labeling Office Christmas Parties as racist. They will disappear faster than the Defense of Marriage Act. Nothing can stand up to the "racist" bomb, nothing.

I hope you are wrong Clean. There's a very diverse workforce at my employer and for he life of me, I can't remember any hostility over race, religions, sexual orientation, etc. at employee get togethers. The only real conflict I've witnessed is between the overdrinkers and the folks who don't like interacting with drunks.

I hope we keep the parties, though I admit I leave when I start encountering, sick, belligerent or sexually aggressive drunks, it's time for me to finish my second drink and go home.

CNN is changing its tune pretty quick

It sounds like the NSA, or one of the other Counter Terrorism groups, was aware of the shooter. He had visited Pakistan and Saudi Arabi. His wife was here on a Pakistani Visa (K-1). He was in contact with overseas jihadis. So, they passed him name along to the FBI. Apparently the FBI did not consider him enough of a threat.

One last data mining tidbit, one of the folks who was listening to the police scanner yesterday said that, at the time they first mentioned the main shooter's name (see my post on page one about this) that the sheriff/police recognized the name and said something about how they had the name for a week and were supposed to be looking into it. It was scanner traffic so no written record.

I applaud CNN for changing the message when facts come in. Absent facts, you just have a lot of noise and speculation.

They had big plans not fully realized
In addition, there were other men at the Redlands house who they do not have in cusotody

So, a local guy noticed some strange things going on in one of the shooter's locations but was so afraid of being attacked by Social Justice Warriors that he did not report it.

Where are these other guys now?

Sounds like the FBI didn't want to racially profile them either. Oh well, at least law enforcement can't be accused of civil rights violations this time. That's what's really important.

Obama said today they weren't sure yet if it was terrorism. He said it could be work place violence! Who briefs him? The Three Stooges?

Were you expecting Obama to say something different than the local Police Chief? I'd hope the POTUS would be at least as measured as the local PD.

Sure, the newer evidence is point to Islamic radicalism ties but we should be damn sure before staking out a stance. Whereas Obama should be criticized for jumping out in front too quickly on the HS Clock/Bombmaker a more measured wait and see approach should be lauded.

The locals were also tipped off about the rental SUV.
However, the report was not clear when the tip was received.
This, I think, ties into what I wrote above about what was overheard on the police scanner.

I read about an incident in Colorado where a caller told dispatch there was a wild eyed man walking down the street with an AR 15 and a handgun. Dispatch told him the man was well within his Constitutional rights. No police officers were dispatched until he started gunning down people. Thanks 2nd Amendment warriors!

Wow. That's crazy. Do you have the link to the story?

I've never heard of someone killed by a licensed carry permit holder carrying open. Certainly in comparison to the handgun gun crime deaths in places like Chicago, it's tiny.

Alot of narratives popped up with this shooting, and got shot down.
It's amazing how many got floated in such a short period of time.
It would be amusing if the actual facts were not so tragic.
It's makes the SJW/progressive/socilalist side look incapable of independent thought -- they are just sheeple flying off in whatever direction their controllers point them.

The first thing that popped up was to blame pro-lifers. The amount of tweets stating how close the event was to the local abortion clinic was somewhat staggering.

There is a Starbux nearbye too but it wasnt mentioned.

When that failed, the narrative easily and quickly shifted to evil right-wingers

Then came the massive call for Govt Action (the reall God) to save everyone with more gun control.

Next, in a weird twist, the sheeple took to criticizing prayer wishes for the victims. Strangely, the same people who think that when radical Muslims engage in mass shootings, that’s not an indictment of Islam were now saying Christians who pray for shooting victims are the real problem. Shouting “Allahu akhbar!” while shooting is not religious but praying for victims make you a wingnut.

But that was not the end of it. Next came the "workplace violence" meme, kicked off by the CAIR TV conference late last night -- “We don’t know the motives. Is it work, rage related? Is it mental illness? Is it extreme ideology? At this point it’s really unknown to us.” Today, Obama brought up "workplace violence" (was this coordinated?). Obama to date still maintains the Ft. Hood shooting was "workplace violence." And then Kerry Saunders on NBC even suggested that the shooter may have been offended by the office “Christmas Party.”

DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz is now attempting to shift the narrative to Islamophobia.

And you know Climate Change is waiting behind the curtain.

*sigh*

Is it legal to open carry in Colo?
Was the dispatcher wrong?
Should the police be dispatched to people who are obeying the law?
Is there a way to identify people who are about to commit a crime?

That's a tremendous view from a right-wing lens. I wonder what a similar view with a left-wing lens would look like?

I know gun violence is a problem in Chicago, a city with strict gun laws and a gang problem. On a statewide basis though, rates of per capita gun violence in Illinois ranks far behind that in places like Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi where the gun laws are pretty much written the way the NRA lobbyists asked.

I think the sensible answer is that nobody outside of law enforcement should be allowed to legally walk down a public street carrying a semi-automatic rifle. Clearly the 2nd amendment is now aiding the means of mass murder candidates.

Legal or no, I think it's bizarre as all hell to walk through the neighborhood carrying a rifle and two pistols and worthy of police attention. I don't hate firearms. I own them and shoot, but I don't have a lot in common with the Texas Open Carry folks.
