American Idol

Same here, and thanks for that link--just what I needed this am. Oddly, I was a Tears for Fears fan, but did not know that song.

Thanks for the link, X-Ray. Adam's performance was good, but nothing spectacular...was a little surprised to see Simon give him a standing ovation. The judges also surprised me with the glowing remarks they gave Matt last night. But that's why I'm not in the music industry...I have no idea what the hell they're looking for in a performance.

you probably do know the song, the arrangement was so different from the original you wouldnt recongnize it. he took the arrangment from some band but ive forgot their name. adam will win this thing easy or should. i think he's the most talented contestant (at this point in their careers) that they have ever had on the show. i think he and clay aiken should hook up.

I will go ahead and say it... Adam wins and I will have lost all faith in America. Adam isn't that great, and certainly not worth drooling over.
He has to hit that damn 'glam' note on EVERY song, he has no depth of character to his singing, and he makes every arrangement the same. Add to that the fact that Johnny Cash, would and should have shot him after he ruined a classic song.
Adam can NOT go home soon enough.

Adam will probably win the whole show but he'll also be lucky to sell 12 records. He has zero marketability.

i think you underestimate the gay market in this country.

I disagree that Johnny Cash would have been upset by Adam's version of Ring Of Fire. Ya gotta remember-- Johnny Cash covered Nine Inch Nails... which isn't exactly typical country.

I also disagree about Adam's Marketability-- High School kids-- who buy more music than anyone else-- LOVE his style. You have to remember that 80's retro throwback is 100% in style right now.

they are gay, not deaf. Now... if you want to market Adam to the deaf gay market. so be it. But... the guy is ugly too. I mean I like good lookin' guys as much as the next straight guy.. but Adam is NOT attractive..
I would say I might see him if he were doing Rent or something. He came from musical theatre and that is where he belongs.

THEU
The "next straight guy" doesn't "like" "good looking guys" at all.

Just for your reference.

Now, any male that watches Idol with any attitude short of sneering condescension and abusive scorn just may be....

I watch American Idol about five times a year, so I don't get to know all of the contestants and their back stories. Well, the other night when the blind guy got voted off, I made an unfortunate comment to my wife about him. I had no idea he was blind, and said something like, "They need to vote that dude off that always has a blank stare of his face.".... After I found out he was blind I felt like I was on one of those Southwest Airline commercials. "Want to get away?"

Lil Rounds, Matt G., and Allison are my bottom three.

I will say I think Anoop hit it out of the park tonight. That was his BEST so far. Gokey started off REALLY pitchy but sorted it out and finished strong. I didn't know the song that Kris did, but he did it VERY well.

Adam is Adam... for better or worse

Kris did "Falling Slowly" from the soundtrack of the movie Once, a beautiful song from a great film. I think he did a great version of it.

Adam is an entertainer more than a vocalist. In terms of pure vocal ability Anoop is perhaps the best talent remaining, his voice is golden and he has outstanding control.

They use the judges save and Matt is safe!!!!

Lil needs to go home. The judges keep talking about this "amazing voice" but I havent been impressed with her since the first audition. It was her time to go tonight, and the Judges Save couldve been saved for another night.

Now 2 people go home next week because of Lil Rounds. And assuming things pan out the same way next week, Anoop should outlast Lil and Matt again, although Matt and Anoop are pretty even.

Only problem is... its Disco Week next Tuesday.

That doesnt bode well for my Anoop.

Can't wait to see what Adam does with disco week?

Disco Duck anyone? What big song will Lil try to massacre this time? "I Will Survive"???

Anoop could do OK if he gets one of the ballads from that era.

Disco week sets the stage for an epic Lil Rounds catastrophe. High expectations + terrible singing = hilarity.
