Ags Piggies make it official

Or could it be 55 21 0?

I am well aware of the numbers in the Arkansas-Texas "rivalry". There is no way I can spin them. Texas has traditionally had our number. Period. With that said, the record between the two schools has NOTHING to do with the cancellation. Furthermore, as I stated earlier, Arkansas has won 3 of the last 4 and is a fumble away from 4 straight. So, the record between the two schools has ZERO weight on the decision. Bare in mind, we are canceling our home game, not yours.

It's simple. Arkansas is slated to face a conference schedule, away games at that, that consist of Georgia, Florida, LSU, Bama, and home games against Auburn, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Miss. St., two additional OOC schools and Texas and Aggie?

Get real.

Arkansas could face Texas St., Austin Community College, Bethune Cookman, and Little Sisters of the Poor and still
have the toughest schedule in the country in 2009.

On top of all of that, Aggie is worth 50 Million. A home game against Texas is worth.........warm fuzzies?

Well, whocares, we've got 3 potential top 10 opponents on our schedule for 2008, so following your logic maybe we should drop a ooc game against a top team. If only you guys were a top team, we'd be able to do that. So of course your ooc schedule is tougher than ours - you're playing us, and we're playing you.

I couldn't care less about moral victories and I have read enough of your posts to know you are intelligent enough to get the point being made.

Personally, as I prepare to bow out of this thread, I would love to face Texas in Fayetteville.

Of course, I would also prefer to not face Top 5 teams every week. It would be fun but honestly, who can survive that schedule?

What I don't understand is why would Arkansas want to postpone a home game vs. UT in '09, only to move it to 2014 or whatever and still face the same conundrum of playing both UT and A&M in the same season? I was under the impression that Arkansas was willing to play us anytime and should be glad we even agreed to a home and home in the first place. I'm not trying to sound elitist here, but I just don't see the point of delaying the game for 5 years. What good will that do? Let's just play the freaking game as scheduled.

I know plenty of the Piggies and none of them are happy abouy dropping UT in 09. If they could play one game from now until the end of time it would be against us.

That being said, I am certain that Petrino took one look at the schedule and said "oh, hell no...." I have to admit I agree with the decision. Moreover, Arkansas wanted us to be be their 50 million dollar baby. We did not want to play them every year giving them a Texas platform for recruiting. Moreover, half of our fanbase did not want to play ever again for bolting the SWC. We rejected them and agreed to a home and home. They sought out aggy and aggy in a desperate effort to capture an "ou-esque" rival happy agreed to allow Arkansas an annual Dallas-area recruiting platform.

Give the Piggies credit, they knew how to make aggy's penis envy work for them.

2014 might not be as viscous of a schedule?

The problem is not facing two Texas schools. The problem is facing an SEC schedule that includes away games at Georgia (a heavy favorite to win the NC), Ole Miss, Bama, LSU, and Florida. Add to that South Carolina, Auburn, and Miss. St..

To throw two more OOC games and Texas and A&M in the mix is non sense. No one, and I mean no one, could survive that silly video game schedule.

I assume that in 2014 the SEC East teams (Georgia, Florida, South Carolina) will have rotated out for Vandy, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

Again, it's not a fear of two Texas schools. It's an attempt to be reasonable. If not for 5 million dollars, A&M would probably be postponed a year too.

As an Arkansas fan, I would like to play Texas 12 times a year. But the way the cards have fallen, the schedule is too brutal already.

If the $EC is so tough then get the F out or quit bitching about it.
pig has been in the league since '92 and won absolutely jackshit.
As for the 3-4 BS,if you can use the Matt Jones fumble as an excuse we can use penalties and TO's as the reason Texas lost in '91.
Texas whipped pig up and down the field that game and you know it.
The '04 game was a game in which GD got too cute and quit running Benson who had 190 yards in roughly 2.5 Q's.
F Ark.

Alert Arlington! Lock your doors! Lock up your livestock and your underage daughters and liquor cabinets! The Annual battle of: Sheep Lovers vs. Swine Lovers is coming to town!

Two universities and fan bases that truly hate TEXAS more than they love their alma mater or team.

On one side of the stands: thousands of in unison swaying goobers in overalls lead by milkmen yell leaders... on the sideline: lines of corp fish ags squeezing proudly for ol' army on National TV.

On the other side: thousands of dentally challanged red clad fans with banjos & pitchforks, many wearing plastic hogs heads, screaming "whoooooooooooooooooo pig, soeee, wherzzaah WalMart! Yeaaaaaah!"

What is this world coming too?

What I remember as absolute justice:

9/5/92: The Citadel 10 Arkansas 3
@ Fayetteville, Ark.

This was the first game Arkansas played under the SEC banner. Whoooooooooo Piggy, awesome!!! Jack Crowe fired immediately... nice.

Enjoy continuous mediocrity. Last conference title: 1989.
Have fun with the agroids in the annual undercard to Texas-OU. Can't wait to kick your stupid asses this September.

55-21-0... suck on that.

Mandingo, I apologize....."Bear in mind". Rather than have civil discourse, lets nit pick grammar mistakes that are common place.

Furthermore, since you want to nit pick and be technical, it is 100% possible to play a different Top 5 team for 12 weeks. Look into it. You might learn something. Here is a hint though: Polls change.

Again, rather than look at the merit of what I said, you want to criticize non issues.

I have attempted to explain why Texas was dropped and if you and those of your ilk care to ramble on and cast insults go ahead.

Stat, again, I was showing that Arkansas has no reason to "fear" playing Texas. Our recent record against Texas does not call for "fear".

Away games at Georgia (who might end up with a NC this year), Florida, LSU, Bama, and Ole Miss plus home games against South Carolina, Miss. St., Auburn, plus two OOC games plus Texas plus Texas A&M is absurd. Texas has never had that schedule and you never will. No school, including Arkansas, would submit themselves to that. Someone had to go and it wasn't going to be the game with a 5 million dollar payday.

It's an analogy. Again, of everything I said with 100% merit you want to debate the likelihood of this or that.
Should I word it differently?

I'll try...........

In 2009 Arkansas might have ROAD GAMES
against the 3 past National Champions (at least 2 if Georgia flops) and Bama who just inked the #1 recruiting class.

Texas and Texas A&M could be anywhere from #50 to #1.

Auburn could be Top 5

Ole Miss, Miss. St., and USC......who knows?

Plus two directional schools

You get the point. You see that the schedule is absurd and there are no others like it. The powers that be saw this schedule coming and decided to come back down to planet earth. It was wise to drop at least one school. The non 5 million dollar game is the obvious choice.

You would rather have a catfight over non issues than agree.

Fine.

Road games at Georgia, Florida, LSU, Bama, and Ole Miss

Home against Texas, Miss. St, South Carolina, Auburn, Two directional schools

Neutral against A&M

Yeah.......you want that schedule? You may need to notify the Alamo and Holiday Bowls and notify them you will be staying home in 09..

So you want to whine and complain because Texas was dropped and when explanations are given, well, it's time to "STFU or GTFO". Sounds solid.

Look, I have nothing but respect for Texas. I hate Texas but I respect them. I wish we played every year.

But in no way, shape, form, or fashion is the 2009 schedule one that a sane program would take on. The best Arkansas could do with it is drop a major OOC opponent. Why Texas? You don't bring 5 million to the table. Trust me, most fans in Arkansas would rather play Texas but one game with A&M at Jerry World will pay the entire coaching staffs salaries.

Georgia may end up being the 3rd consecutive National Champion out of the SEC.

That makes away games at the 3 previous National Champions, away at Bama who just signed the #1 recruiting class, and away at Ole Miss. I don't care how you spin it, those 5 away games alone will be sufficient enough to give Arkansas the toughest schedule in the nation. Period. Plus a neutral against Aggie?

Then there are still home games against Auburn, South Carolina, Miss. St. and two directional schools. Yeah, lets throw Texas back in for schits and giggles.

You can try and compare it to a Big 12 schedule all day long but it simply will not add up.

So, are we leaping from "Georgia was almost in the MNC game last year" to "Georgia may be this year's MNC" to "Georgia is a MNC, despite never playing for MNC"? I guess this is what passes for logic in the SEC.

Georgia was really good last year, finishing #2. Georgia had nine senior starters, so I'm going to guess they won't be as good in 2008. Let's not give them the MNC yet.

Here's the deal. The SEC is probably the best conference right now, but not by as much as its proponents claim. The SEC has a very good talent pool, the best fan support, and a good slate of coaches. In the late '90s, when the SEC was coached by Dubose, DiNardo, Ford, Scott, Donnan, Mumme, Bowden, Sherrill and Widenhofer, it was not the best conference. The B12 was better. You don't get to claim the SEC teams are automatically going to be great without explaining why.
