Calling them names, etc. is just as stupid as them calling us tea sippers or saying our initials in reverse. It's a sign of disrespect.
So they have some stupid fans. Why be just as stupid?
I understand why people do it, and no I don't find it funny. It definitely makes us look childish to recruits.

They currently have ONE four star rated recruit and bunch of guys who haven't shown much on the field but, if you go over to Texags, they are already drinking the kool-aid.

Sherm's latest commit. A DE out of Louisianna no one has ever heard of.
Ag #1: Another commit out of the state of LA. He's listed as a strong side DE 6'3 235lbs
Right now he holds offers from LA tech, LA Lafayette, Arkansas and the good guys
Ag #2: great eval by the staff, can play end or the jack . also flexible in a 3-4 set. could be like a kindle fos us. very pumped!
Ag#3: Great committ! Sure fire 4* and just oozing with so much potential! I love the Kindle reference, I think this kid will be a bad *** in Aggieland! I am so happy with the job the staff is doing thus far!

These forums are basically an escape, they're akin to an online tailgate that some of us get to enjoy from work. We have fun and joke around.
Spend more time on the board and get to know the jokes that have been going on for a long time (uphauling, aggy, etc.).
The general sentiment from Longhorn nation here is that aggy is a perpetual joke. Any respect for them disappeared following the bonfire game and the "Cart McCry" incident.
They've stooped lower than anyone here ever will. They hold about as much interest to us as the town idiot does. That' actually kind of what they are, only it's more accurate to refer to them as the state idiot.
They find new ways to embarrass the state of Texas all the time (see: PSU Alamo Bowl game). Be as kind to them as you want but don't expect anything to be returned if fortunes are reversed.
You don't have to kick them when they're down and you can choose to show them as much respect as you want, but we'll do things how we see fit and we know what line shouldn't be crossed.
There's no need to lecture us on things here. If you do though, get a little bit more seasoning under your belt post-wise before hand. From experience, it helps when trying to make a point to the "seasoned vets" on here.

i think he (she?) is dead on with comments regarding childishness. you and i may recall the ags' 'cart mccoy' meanness but others don't. when we act aggie by lower casing only the school names or other foolishness, it gives great fodder to other programs to use against us. stupid behavior, really. self-defeating.

I'm with you chango, it's really, really entertaining stuff. I didn't know a fanbase could be so unintelligent about football.

My theory is that aggy isn't necessarily "unintelligent about football", as you said. Rather, they are SOOOOOO eaten up with jealousy for us that they will go to any length to rationalize their hope of being competitive with us. And in going to such tremendous lengths to rationalize their comparative suckitude (instead of just admitting their guys are average at best, and don't equate at all to ours) they end up looking like the stupidest bunch of mouthbreathing hicks ever.

Getting lectured by some newcomer about how childish I am for referring to aggy in the lower case reminds me of something my dad used to say to me when I was a kid. A former master sergeant back in WWII, most of the time when I spoke up, I was told that when he wanted to know what my opinion was on anything, he'd TELL me what my opinion was.
When I want a newbie's opinion on how I insult the agriculturally-inclined, I'll tell him or her.
aggy is the embarassment, to the state. With the group think over at that place, you can't use any kind of logic. Try posting logic on one of their boards and you'll be banned faster than you can shake a stick. That's not true with Hornfans, or any UT boards that I know of. Quite the contrary, opposite views are encouraged, as long as reasonable posting policies are followed.
Others have said this, and it's true. aggy jokes write themselves. I do sometimes think we give the cult more legitimacy than they deserve, just by recognizing their absurdity. You can't pick on 'em while they're down, because they're virtually never up. Insulting aggy is like causing a used car salesman to take offense...you can't get there from here.
This final thought...if what's said on this board offends one's sensibilities, perhaps that one should spend a lot less time on this board. In the meantime, spend less time chastising, and more time learning how things work around here. Just don't expect any courtesy changes from any longtime posters because you don't think it's seemly. Now...that's how I feel!!!

I'm a newbie so if you don't mind, let me put my opinion in the mix. It's aggy, period. Most, not all, of them still say Cart McCry or something similar to this day. Respect? You earn respect by treating others with it, something they don't do to us Horns. I went to enough games in collie station in the 80's to hear all their BS and trust me, they laid it on. Yep,, aggy and if there's more than one, it's aggys. Screw em.
One aggy, lots of aggy. It stays singular, like the Borg.

The best part of it is that they have like 70-80 offers out and no one is taking them - no one is visiting them. Then they start another wave of offers of guys who never thought they would get taken by a good Big 12 school and suddenly 10 of them commit. These players know they will not be receiving an offer from Texas or going to OU so they commit and aggy starts to think their class is just as good as ours because Sherman has a great eye for talent.
What they don't realize is that these are his 3rd and even 4th choices at the position, not the guys Sherman was ideally targeting the whole time.

I think the class has gotten the better the last couple of days/week.
The Joekels, Ben Malena, Gramling. All real nice players, worse of the bunch is probably mid-3 star.
Havne't seen video on the La. kids, but the clips of the DE from Rowlett are pretty nice as well. And I also like the OT from Allen they picked up. Think he was 1st team All State.
Sherman has picked it up a bit (again, I haven't seen anything from the La kids).

Hey Bundy, I agree with you, and frankly, I'm a little surprised given the lack of traction Sherman's had with recruits in his tenure so far.
You've gotta walk before you crawl, and the most recent ag verbals are a step up. I've had my share of fun at aggy's expense, but obviously they're getting at least a reasonable reception in some recruits homes. I do think some posters on the ag sites need to tap the brakes a bit...this class helps, but it's not likely to lead to any Big XII or BCS championships.

The problem is that while the recent verbals are of better quality (imo) than the first round of verbals, neither are of a quality that is going to push TAMU towards the top of the B12. basically, its just business as usual.
To me, there are about 6 or 7 players that are still out there that are legit players for TAMU:
Jake Matthews
Jay Guy
DJ Jones
Corey Nelson
Shaun Lewis
Tony Hurd
Tyler Stephenson
I think all these guys are 4-star type players, and if Sherman is going to start increasing the talent level of the team, he needs to land 4+ of these kids.
He's got to land Mathews (which would make this the best OL class at TAMU in a long time). He's got to land either Nelson or Lewis as we have a giant sucking sound at LB. He needs one of Hurd or Stephenson to start getting some decent talent in the defensive backfield.

Probably about right. I'd say Guy, DJ JOnes and Mathews are the most likely, but he's got to expand it beyond that if he ever wants to start closing the gap between TAMU and the top of the B12.
