Aggy got hosed......

I do agree that aggy got hosed and maybe it is easier to say from our perspectives but aggy did very little to help their cause. Poor freethrows, anemic offense in clutch situations and poor shot selections maybe wrought out of impatience or frustration. There is a shitload that could have been done to make that hosing at the end a nonfactor. Again, much easier to say as your instate rival and not the team that got the screwjob.

If time expired then those two points need to come off regardless of whether it would be a 2 point, 4 point or 32 point victory. Those points did not happen, dunk or not.

Good point l00p. A&M made some costly mistakes in the second half, losing their lead and allowing UCLA to win.

Anyway, enough with this game. Good luck with Miami. I can see yall running over them easily.

a great "evidence" thread, but even if the foul was called and the dunk negated and he makes 2 FTs, still a few seconds remain for a Bruin win. If OT, no reason to believe that Aggy would be able to overcome the UCLA defense.

As long as they would not need to stop UCLA from scoring, shoot free throws or make baskets of their own I think the ag's had a chance in overtime.

Aggies had their chances, no doubt. Still, foul should have been called and Sloan given the chance to make 2 FTs. With four seconds or so left, who knows what would have happened. A&M is a physical team. Not sure if you can call them dirty.

They've called fouls with a few seconds left that sent guys to the line in the past, and it is not unreasonable for a player to expect to have free throw chances when he gets hacked in that situation.

I can name two instances when it happened in the same game this year:

OU-Baylor. A four point play with under ten seconds. And then Jerrells gets a call in the paint with around 1 second left at the other end. They can, have and should be expected to call fouls when there is a foul.

Nah.

You guys keep pointing out that the Aggies went a long time without a field goal as some sort of evidence that they choked. Of course they didn't hit any field goals for a long stretch, they were getting mugged in the paint without getting any calls.

It can certainly be argued that payback is a ***** for the way they generally play in the paint, but the bottom line is that they repeatedly got the short end of the stick on foul calls and non-calls and even on out-of-bounds calls in the second half. They got screwed. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it but it's silly to deny that they got shafted by the refs.

And to even consider arguing that they shouldn't call a foul on the play at the end is horrifically stupid. Some people like to argue that the refs should let the players decide, but a referee not calling a foul on such an obvious hack is the very definition of the referee deciding the game. The referees, if they saw it but decided not to call it, took it upon themselves to ignore the rules of the game. That is terrible.

There should have been a foul called on the last play. The refs missed it. It sucks, but it happens.

I'm just tired of listening to aggy *****, tho.

They never lose a game. Ever. It is ALWAYS the ref's fault.

We sure didn't help ourselves in the last 10 minutes of the game and we sure didn't help ourselves by shooting 20% from 3pt land and 43% from the FT line. We also made some bonehead passes that led to easy fastbreak points for UCLA. There is no doubt about that.

What I don't understand is what those things have to do with us not getting the foul called? Love took over during those 10 minutes and I'm sure some of his blocks were fouls but it doesn't bother me that they were missed. It happens and in a mess of people it happens more.

But this was blatant and obvious. We didn't lose the game because of the no call but we sure missed out on a legit opportunity to send it in overtime.

I thought the refs were flat-out bad, throughout the game. They were inconsistent both in types of calls and what caused a foul.

Sometimes when this happens, you can lay the blame on them for who won and who lost. Given that they probably blew the last call as much as they blew others, I did not get the impression while watching the game that the officiating was the deciding factor. The Aggies just didn't make enough baskets when they needed to.
