4-horn QB Buechele commits. [Earlier: Lots of smoke bout a QB commit...]

Per BurntOrangeNation blurb:
A roughly .350 hitter with three home runs last year, Buechele is probably good enough to get a tryout with the Texas baseball team, but the big news here is his plan to enroll early. And at some point the football staff will probably have a conversation with the recent pledge about the importance of focusing on football full time.

The great thing is that he has fully embraced the job as the recruiter-in-chief for us. Seems to enjoy it. Taking trouble to drive in jammed icy-weather traffic to come to the junior day just to spend 3 hours recruiting others, was very nice leadership from Shane Buechele.

Per Horns Digest:
Texas needed a top in-state QB recruit... The thought of Texas having to go outside the state again for a QB after having [Zach] Gentry committed before landing Kai Locksley of Maryland left a void on UT's recruiting resume under Strong.

If there’s one thing the state of Texas produces, it’s quarterbacks. Now, Texas has one of its own – one of the best - committed for 2016.

So if the Horns now feel like they can land either Xavier Gaines or Woody Barrett of Florida as the second QB in the 2016 class, so be it. Strong said from Day 1 he planned to “cherry pick” outside of Texas. Now that its in-state QB hoss has pledged to come to Austin, bring on the quality depth at QB.

After Buechele’s commitment, it feels like just a matter of time before Strong’s Longhorn teams start to play with the fiery edge opponents and NFL scouts came to expect from Strong’s teams at Louisville.

Per Scout:
"I am very happy my mom and I ended up going to the junior day,” Buechele said. “I had a great time hanging out with the players that were there and the coaching staff. I got a vibe from the coaching staff like always. It’s a great group of coaches. They would come up to me and say welcome to the family. They made us feel at home.”

"I spent most of my time with Coach Watson,” Buechele said. “Still trying to build the best relationship we can."

Then he threw a change-up and talked about baseball. (Did you see what I did there?)

”Baseball is a big thing for me at the moment because we are right in the middle of the season but I will be working on everything from my footwork, pocket presence, arm strength and a lot more,” Buechele said.

Buechele will compete in the Elite 11 Semifinals tomorrow thru Sunday in Los Angeles. He'll be contesting 22 other QBs for 10 spots at The Opening Finals in July.

Other B12 school commits include:
  1. Jett Duffey / TT
  2. Austin Kendall / ou
  3. Deriq King / TCU
  4. Nick Starkel / OSU
---------------------------------
Buechele is one of those players who just seems to have the it factor. Seems to sense and feel when he is in trouble in the pocket and is able to escape it and find a way to make a play, whether it is with his arm or his legs. He throws an accurate and catchable ball and seems to be able to always find a way to place it in just where he needs to, even though at times he does it with unorthodox mechanics or methods. He makes quick decisions.

13th invite at elite eleven? What does that mean? LOL.

Aggie says we can't recruit good Qb's or wr's. I guess next year it will be OL.

When will Shane be upgraded to 5 stars? Seems like he is elite. Good for recruiting momentum.

Shane had an awesome Elite11 and played great during the 7-7s. He just didn't have his best showing in the last game as they were beaten 28-0. Can't fault him in any way/shape/form, though - his defense absolutely suckled.
