2024 Texas Rangers

Rangers played a complete game in all phases today. Excellent pitching, starter and bullpen. Timely hitting, aggressive baserunning. Great defense. And all that led to a convincing 7-2 win.
Let's hope they can keep it up on the upcoming road trip- three against the Dodgers in LA, three against the Mariners in Seattle. 4-2 would be a superb outcome for this trip (and 3-3 wouldn't be horrible).

Got to see today’s game on Roku as I still refuse to pay the Ballys blackmail. Eovaldi pitched seven innings and actually got run support as the Rangers won the series finale. 4-4 so far in June. Road trip upcoming to west coast including Seattle next weekend.

Rangers vs. Dodgers Tuesday night at 9 ish CDT. Dunning is the starter. Important series vs very good NL team.

Uggggh! Tuesday opener vs. Dodgers .... Dunning gets the hook after 4.66 innings with the Good Guys trailing 3-1. The Bullpen goes on to surrender 9 runs and the Rangers lose horribly 12-2.

Lorenzen is on the mound tonight Eovaldi Thursday nite.

The next three weeks will be telling as this is the hardest three weeks on the schedule. Players are starting to get well, but if history has taught anything, some will not be well and will have to go off again, and there will be further injuries (same as all MLB teams).

If things do not turn soon, CY is going to have to play the trade market (plus and minus).

Got so bad last night that Knizner, the backup catcher came on and threw 1 and 2/3 innings. The Rangers are treading water but just barely and life support is beeping loudly.

Wed. vs. LA...

T5th, former Dodger Seager DRIVES a fastball into left field with 2 on base!!!

3-1 GOOD GUYS !!!

OK Latz, keep the lid on this....

Rangers get third out in the bottom of the ninth on a throw to the plate to gun down the tying run and hold on for a 3-2 win. I am in Seattle this weekend and may get out Sunday to see the Rangers-Mariners. Maybe my regular season losing streak dating back to 2019 seeing the Rangers in person just needs a road game to come to an end.

Game 3 vs. Dodgers. Rangers clinging to a 3-1 lead B8th.

David F' Robertson in relief, inherits runners on 1st and 3rd, NO outs.

HE DELIVERS!!!!

STRIKES OUT 3 BATTERS IN A ROW!!! INCLUDING OHTANI!!!

Yates gets it done!!!

BIG 3-1 win and the series win 2-1 !!!!

BIG credit to Lorenzen against a tough LA batting lineup for this win!!!

Well, the Rangers met our fondest hopes - a series win in LA against the Dodgers. Now let's see them repeat it in Seattle.

Rangers get swept in Seattle and fall to five games under .500. Circumstances conspired to keep me from going to the game this afternoon so it wasn’t my bad luck at regular season games that cost them today just old fashioned inability to get any clutch hits. Our Seattle based relatives have such a similar feeling to mine in years past waiting for the next shoe to drop and their luck to turn bad. But the Mariners remain hot and have an 8.5 game lead as we hit mid-June.

Scherzer could be back this week after his second rehab start in a week last night where he went 4 and 2/3 striking out 8 on 79 pitches. If he feels good his next start could be for Texas. Jung will back soon too and with Josh Smith so hot where to put him becomes a question.

Back home to Arlington for three with the Mets starting tomorrow.

Fathers Day stuff - didnt see anything but final score 5-0 loss to the People of the Sea.... ugh. Didn't score a single run! :puke:

Come back to Globe, regroup and try to at least take 2 of 3 from Mets.

Rangers get mauled by the Mets 14-2 in the series opener as Gray can’t get past the third. The good news is that Scherzer may get a start as early as this weekend against KC and DeGrom threw a short session from the mound for the first time in a year as he begins his rehab process that could maybe, possibly, perhaps, see him throwing actual game pitches by August. Rangers have dug themselves quite a hole sitting nine games back and in a tie for second in the AL West though technically behind Houston on the tie breaker. To get to 90 wins Texas needs to go 57-33, i.e. somehow go 24 games over .500 in their last 90 games. Even then, I am not sure 90 wins gets in the playoffs and just getting to 90 wins seems quite a stretch. Hate to say in June that the rest of the year is now really about setting up for 2025 but we are getting mighty darn close to that. Get healthy and play good ball and see just see what happens is the mantra for the rest of year. :texasflag:

I'm with you on this, FWHORN. The hill may be a bit too steep to climb for the rest of the 2024 season. It could help if the starting pitchers come off the IL and can be effective. Getting Jung back will help the offense - but the other hitters are in a season-long slump, and that would have to change.

:brickwall: Rangers blow a 6-2 lead and lose 7-6 tonight to fall to 33-40. Hard to find much positive about where their faint playoff hopes stand at this point, reinforcements coming or not.

At this point, it is hard to see a WC from the West, but if Houston or Texas can catch any fire at all, the last WC slot might be attainable.

They way the Astros and Rangers are playing this season makes it look like they want to vacation together in early October. 'Stros got shutout by the lowly White Sox last night and the Rangers, as noted above, blow a 6-2 lead.

Taveras HR gets the lead and YATES GETS IT DUN IN the 9th.

Finally! vs KC, opening series win 6-2 Friday nite.

Eovaldi looked very good in 6 innings and the bats came alive in the 6th inning!!!

We needed Eovaldi back, sharp and nasty!

Semien was the batting hero tonight. Langford and Lowe had good nights at bat.

Schezer back and starting Sat. in an afternoon tilt!

GO RANGERS !!! :texas-flag:

Nice W against KC yesterday - hope it's the start of a long winning streak. If the Rangers have any chance of contending his season, they need two things - (1) a nice long winning streak and (2) a cold streak for Seattle. And now is the time to start.
