2024 Soccer season

Wow, got on to see comments about Sundays game and nada. To anyone interested won 2-0.
This team is talented but imo the offense needs something to spark it. They miss out on too many legitimate opportunities.

Agreed. Gonna have to convert on those offensive opportunities which are frequent.

Tough one tonight. The early goals were very nicely played then hit back into same good, no great pressure but couldn’t get it in the net. Some tough calls but that happens every game.

Question for you soccer fans. I got a parking ticket during last nights game (didn’t see it on windshield until this morning) for parking across the street in the lot. It’s the very far south side of the LBJ lot. Sign says permit from 7:45 to 5:45 but what I did not read below that was “any other campus permit” is allowed outside that timeframe. I have always parked there for the 3-4 years we have been able to attend games. I did go to challenge the ticket and that is how I was informed of the additional instructions at the bottom of sign. My stupidity so not challenging the error I’m just wondering where you good people park. We have no one on the team we simply enjoy supporting the horns whenever we can ladies and the men. Is there such a thing as a generic parking permit?
Probably should add we’re in the ‘senior’ classification so not up for a hike from say Speedway garage, not in the current heat anyway.

I don't think we have a ton of soccer fans/followers on the forum, but I figured I'd ask.

I am not necessarily avid, but I try to keep up with the team. I am far more knowledgable about basketball, volleyball, and others.

With soccer, why does our program have so much trouble attracting respect? We started the season returning our entire starting lineup and returning EmJ Cox from injury. We were ranked outside the top 16 (after a sweet 16 run). We moved up a little and were just outside the top 10 and after a 1-0 road loss, we dropped completely out of the polls (not even receiving votes). Seems like the poll had a lot of volatility (MSU who beat us went from 24 to 9).

RPI seems to be more confusing, but we also don't play as many games.

Anyone with insight?

Like you UTex I am a fan but not living in Austin keeps me from being what one would call an avid fan. With my previously mentioned parking dilemma I am not sure how I’ll manage more games now but I can judge what I’ve seen thus far. IMO, the girls are not performing up to anticipated level, the anticipation because of the number of returnees and high ranking of young recruits. In my eyes the ladies lack a aggressive’killer’ instinct. By that I mean that skill required to force the ball into the goal when you have the opportunity. The few games I have seen the horns have had significantly more shots on goal and appreciably more time in opponents side of pitch but cannot get the ball into the net.
Yeah I know that’s soccer and often the way the games go but I’m just offering one fans thoughts about this team. No matter what I will always support these ladies even without a daughter or relative on the squad. Hookem ladies

Ladies up 2-0 half vs aggies. Good match and great soccer crowd, nice to see some support for the lady Horns.

Ugh tough loss ladies and those lousy announcers made no mention of Avery Clark’s condition as the camera shows her being helped to locker room by two assistants all the while crying her eyes out. Hoping against hope she’s going to be ok.

Thanks X,
I’ve tried to find anything but unsuccessful. Rather disappointed about the coverage the soccer ladies get. My son served on the Tenn soccer board with Avery’s dad when she was a very young star, that’s our connection.

Nice job ladies. OU goes down 1-0, should have been 3-0 but I’ll take it. Hard fought contest and unless they said it at beginning of game I still heard nothing on Clark’s injury.

Sorry I had to miss 2nd period with an airport trip. Great crowd supporting the ladies but Ark was too much them in the end. Can’t comment on the 2nd period but the first one was some pretty exciting soccer. Tough loss.

Unbelievable finish ladies. Best the best tonight! So happy for your success and cannot imagine how you kept up the tempo for two overtime’s.

Man, the boys need to learn grit from these ladies! Two remarkable victories back to back. Wish I was in Austin so I could be in the welcoming crowd.
