2024 Recruiting - WBB

It's safe to say that we are always going to have a better chance of landing a recruit from the state of Texas (like Maul and Wagner) than we are from out of state (like Breya or Flau'jae). So, unless some out of state 2024 recruits are showing us some strong interest, I'd be content if our staff focused on in-state recruits.

2024 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings - Super 60 - ESPN

For 2024, looks like there are some really good low-post players like Adhel Tac and Justice Carlton. Also, saw a name that sounded familiar in Arianna Roberson out of San Antonio. Older sister Amber played volleyball at Texas back in the day; another older sister played hoops at Texas Tech.

The state of Oklahoma has two really good players in 6'1 W Taliyah Parker and 5'11 W Caya Smith; teammates at Putnam City West H.S.

It all comes down to our "needs" 2 years from now; but, you can't wait even 1 year to offer and decide who you want to join your program for 2024-25. Those decisions basically are being made right now and over the next 6-12 months.

Carlton is good offensively and defensively. Good shot blocker and rebounder. She has the lower body strength to hold her position against bigger players and quick enough to handle smaller forwards. Smooth is the key word. She’ll be excellent early in college. Tac and South Grand Prairie were overmatched against DeSoto in playoffs this year. No reason to get discouraged with DeSoto’s big front line and great outside players. Tac was still very young and inexperienced (per the article) and it showed. But all the elements were obvious as to her potential. Both players will be highly recruited. Hope they consider the Horns.

Bryanna Preston is #54 on ESPNW list. She is a 5’-8” point guard that DFW Horn just alerted us that Texas has offered. I imagine she’s underanked if Schaefer offered her. His teams ALWAYS has tremendous guard play.

Justice Carlton is the best player in the state, maybe the best in the country. Lets keep her here.
Not that I disagree with you Malcolm but Adhel Tac could also be considered the best 2024 player in Texas. Currently on the ESPN 2024 rankings Justice is 21 and Tac is 12. Of course that is very subjective and it’s early and the rankings will change as we all know. Justice is on a very good travel squad team, Tac not so much. I think Vic is on both of them from what we’ve seen and they would both look great in Burnt Orange! :hookem2:

There isn't a team in our region who's done better the last 2 post-seasons than Texas. Really hoping that success, and moving to the SEC, will ignite our high school recruiting for 2024 and 2025. I do think that helped to a degree with 2023 Wagner and Maul, especially winning the Big 12 tourney championship and reaching a second consecutive Elite 8; but, Maul did later reveal that Texas was always her childhood favorite.

It's a huge shock to see the state of Oklahoma with two Top 30 players for the class of 2024. Even more shocked to see three Top 12 players for the class of 2025. Can OU get any of them? Or, will regional schools like Arkansas, LSU, Texas, and Baylor grab one or more? Obviously, if any of them have a huge academic objective, then Stanford and Duke will be players. Or, if their childhood favorite is UConn or South Carolina, they'll be a factor.

Coach Lovato and Blair started following Justice Carton's mom, Kacy Moffitt out on Instagram. So did coaches from LSU, Arizona (including HC Adia Barnes), Florida and Oklahoma State (Jhasmin Player).

Aha... Kacy Moffitt that played at Baylor.

Obviously, if you're not the school who finishes first for a recruit, you might as well have finished last. But, an elite 2024 in-state recruit like Carlton not listing Texas A&M among 21 finalists can't be good for Joni Taylor, especially since she did list Georgia.
