2024 Presidential Election: let the jockeying commence

I like DeSantis on COVID issues. Not sure how good he is on economic or military issues. I suspect he is too protectionist/nationalist for my tastes.

Honestly. I think the best outcome is for DeSantis to stay governor in Florida for a long time and getting Trump into Presidency in 2024. He isn't perfect. But having both those guys in power is better than just having one. Maybe Trump will do a little bit better on hiring people in a second go around.

Best case would be if an LP candidate made a real move. Tulsi Gabbard is also getting better as time goes on.

If America elects Kamala after 4 years of Biden-Harris, this republic needs to end. May God have mercy on us.

I wonder if that poll from the great liberal indoctrination machine, Harvard, might have oversampled brainless lefties by a smidge?

"In 1963 [William F.] Buckley [Jr.] included an instance in his book “Rumbles Left and Right: A Book about Troublesome People and Ideas”. He specified the city of Boston, Massachusetts for the directory, and he also elaborated on his reasoning:[4]

I am obliged to confess that I should sooner live in a society governed by the first two thousand names in the Boston telephone directory than in a society governed by the two thousand faculty members of Harvard University. Not, heaven knows, because I hold lightly the brainpower or knowledge or generosity or even the affability of the Harvard faculty: but because I greatly fear intellectual arrogance, and that is a distinguishing characteristic of the university which refuses to accept any common premise.

Rather interesting how the left places so much faith in a poll if they lead and then whine about collusion after they get drilled.

Kamala would lose a debate even if she was the only one with a podium.

QueMala might even lose a debate with Willie Brown's schlong.

In my opinion, the Republicans need to distance themselves completely from Jan 6th and any association with "Stop the Steal" initiatives, campaigns or proclamations. Anyone not agreeing with that should be cut out completely. The policies that you like from Trump's governance can still be pursued. But the baggage needs to go.

Perhaps the most tantalizing aspect of the Republicans' pending control of the House is the various investigations that are sure to commence as Democrats relinquish chairmanship of every committee. Subjects of those investigations are likely to include:

  • Hunter Biden's alleged influence-peddling in China, Ukraine and elsewhere; lying about his drug use when he completed a federal gun-purchase form; alleged tax crimes
  • Joe Biden's knowledge of Hunter's business dealings -- knowledge he's denied having
  • Federal decision-making about everything from mask and vaccine mandates to school closures
  • The origins of the Covid-19 virus, and the extent to which federal funds have been used to pursue dangerous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and other institutions
  • The bungled withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan
  • The politicization of the Department of Justice
  • A deeper look into federal agencies' activities leading up to and on the day of the Jan. 6 riots, which is likely to include scrutiny of the mysterious Ray Epps -- who was captured on multiple videos fomenting the riot but who has somehow evaded criminal charges

I have no problem with pursuing the origins of the Covid-19 virus and the bungled withdrawal as it resulted in the Taliban retaking control (though they've been good little boys since then). And I would pursue AT A MINIMUM the use of the FBI to raid Henry Cuellar's home in Laredo just prior to the Democratic Primary. The Libs wanted his primary opponent, Jessica Cisneros (an AOC acolyte) to win the primary. Henry won the primary and the general election (US House of Representatives) and nobody has revealed the purpose of the raid, what they found, what they concluded and what Henry might have been alleged to have done.

But to me, the rest of it is just more of the same back and forth. My OPINION is we need to move on and try to impress the voters on GOVERNANCE. SOLVING PROBLEMS. That sort of thing.

some, but not all of this.
-- go after Hunter but only as it relates to influence peddling thru dad. while the other stuff is character background it is not really nationally significant. It just scores political points.
-- Don't really care to rehash Covid mandates
-- do care about Covid origins
-- Do care about withdrawal from AFG, but only as it pertains to Biden lying about the advice he received and from whom
-- I want to stay as far away from Jan 6 talks as possible. Trump was not in the right on that one and it will continue to look that way to 60+% of the nation.

Generally agree with BOSDe with the exception that I'm OK with looking at federal involvement in Covid lockdowns, mandates, and school closures. It doesn't have to be and shouldn't be a broad fishing expedition that hassles local officials, but to the extent that federal officials were involved, it's an appropriate inquiry for congressional oversight.

you all seem to still be oblivious to the reality that 45% of US votes Dem no matter who the candidate is and 45% vote GOP. Does kamala have a chance....? YES

She has a chance not because she is high quality, but because 45% will give her the Fetterman nod. It doesn't matter as long as she commits to the Dem agenda. Biden sucks right now and Dem's still did pretty well this cycle. Better strategies and better (more polished and proven) candidates are needed to win the independents.

There are millions and millions of people who identify with a certain value set and have bonded with the political party most likely to deliver. The character of the politicians means nothing as long as the serfs get what they want. And on the Left, what they want is a nice person. They want to feel like they are good people who would have walked across the Selma Bridge. They want to feel that they would take in the huddled masses in their own home. They want to feel that they would not tweet mean tweets. This is who they are and they will always feel like that.

I agree with you. This is what proves they are completely delusional. They could in fact try. They could take one immigrant into their own home. But they will never do it.

Right, so instead they demand we collectively do it which "confirms" their goodness but you know, NIMBY...

Now Schumer has come out and admitted he wants paths to citizenship for ALL immigrants. There ya go, millions of new voters.

Ask any Liberal the following question:

According to my research, in 2020, 44% or 56 million people live below the poverty line in Mexico. Then you have the cartel activity. So... in the hypothetical situation of the arrogant Liberal army on the internet, as a leader, how many would they allow to come over? This doesn't even count the one's they wish to grant blanket amnesty.

All of them?
50 million?
40 million?
30 million?
Someone stop me when I reach the number
20 million?
Another 11 million?

To make that decision one must also say no the the poor family with all their children, say, "Sorry, the quota has been met. Hopefully the cartel won't kill you."

They usually don't like to discuss things such as this. It's much easier to remain in the clouds on an esoteric level of goodness.

And I guess I'm one of them who is committed to a political party - in my case, the GOP. I was not totally pleased with Ken Paxton for Attorney General - but when I compared him to Garza, it was an obvious choice (IMO, Garza's stances came right out of the Handbook for The Squad). So I checked the box for Paxton (lesser of two evils).
Carrying it a step further: I sincerely hope DJT is not the Republican nominee in 2024. I think there's a better chance of winning with DeSantis. But if Trump is the nominee, I'll vote for him - I absolutely can't vote for any candidate who is tied to the Democratic Party platform.

I want to believe I'm not cultish. As anyone knows who has paid attention to my vomit, I can't stand Liberals. They need to be stopped in their tracks so I voted accordingly. Paxton probably needed to go. My son has jumped to the other side because he thinks Abbott is very corrupt and he's not pro ban on abortion. I am a Democrat but there's no place for me to go except Republican at the moment.
