2024/25 Portal Transfers

This is where it gets confusing. NCAA site says player can enter once without sitting out a year with certain exceptions like a coaching change.

I think it has more to do with NIL money than anything else. Think about it, most of these guys won't make the pros so they are trying to maximize their potential now while they still can before they have to make a real living outside of football.

Apparently the NCAA did make changes this year to allow a player to transfer multiple times.
From site link below
With recent updates to the NCAA rules, athletes can transfer multiple times without losing eligibility.
But then this further down article
The NCAA has implemented a one-time transfer exception for student-athletes. This rule allows athletes to transfer once without having to sit out a year of eligibility.

This exception applies only if the athlete has not transferred previously and is moving to a different NCAA institution."

So all those 2,3,4,5 time transfers have to sit out a year? Why would anyone give them NIL money to not play?

read the article. The academic requirments are pretty strict. Hard to believe all those in portal were such good srtudents.

Maybe Maalik is getting better offers? I still do not understand why Duke advised him to leave. He took them to great season. Does Duke really think a new QB will be better?

Maybe Murphy wanted too much money. I seriously doubt Duke wanted him to leave. This is now professional football with negotiations and bids for players. Play time is over for these kids. I hope they are as eager for the unprecedented criticism they are now going to get when they screw up. I hope the press has no mercy on them. You want a million bucks? ******* play like it or we'll turn you into a boob in the press. Consider it an "education".

Well,we have got some pretty gpod portal folks that have improved their stock in the draft.
Agreed...I just wonder about these players who portal more than once and sometimes every year. I also think when you portal from one of the top teams in the country to get playing time it will be a good thing for the most part. But if you continuously portal, especially from an average program, I think it says something else about the player.

What's that? Avoiding paternity suits or DWI charges? Sigh.... I guess I've had enough of spoiling and coddling these kids.

The only way to settle all this NIL and portal nightmare mess along with everything else the NCAA numb nuts have created since the SMU death penalty days is to completely disband the whole operation and have some real lawyers and academic/athletic experienced people form a new governing body with a total clean sheet of paper!
One group that governs only the larger universities and a separate body just for the smaller colleges.
I have sent these NCAA office nuts countless letters over the years to stop being idiots and I know Sabre has done much more than I have on their ways of operating with no teeth or enforcement power.
They have to go! Period!

The NIL money they are getting for the portal is probably the only money many of them will ever get for football. Maybe they figure they gonna get it while they can.

How much will the agents take? If as the link explains most of those entering portal more than once have to sit out a year. Why would anyone paying for NIL give money to someone not even playing?

6721,

You are getting "warmer" than the other speculators. These so called agents, with one decent suit, an exotic car rented for the day (has to be back by midnight), talk a lot of crap, then canNOT back it up. "We can get you this much signing bonus and this much for your two years. Oregon State then offers a performance based pay scale (Not legal, but that's what 90% of these kids are looking at). The Lamborghini suddenly shoes up as a Fiat four door.

What the dumbasses in Indianapolis have done is create a cottage industry of unqualified "agents", none of whom had morals to check at the door. The kids buy the lies and then look like the bad guy for switching again. NO REGULATION from a group of cretins that have failed to regulate recruiting for 70 years. Why believe this would be different.

Maybe Murphy wanted too much money.?
Duke is reportedly giving the Tulane transfer $8mil NIL over 2 years.

IMO....That would be the ultimate of degree stupidity!!!
What would Duke really stand to gain?
