2023 Volleyball

I'm no expert in volleyball so maybe this is just the nature of the game, but it seems Texas teams for the past few seasons have had high numbers of service errors. Is that a sign of the aggressiveness in serving? Those seem to come at critical times as well. If so, almost feel like we should tone down the aggressiveness and just get the ball in play to force the opposition to earn that point. Maybe UT should start a new trend and hire a serving coach.
Serving is such a huge part of what Coach wants to do defensively. You are right, our errors are wayy too high, which causes us to give away too many free points. This year we are not putting the ball away at a high enough % to have that. We must get better cause I don't expect us to tone down the aggressiveness at the serving line.

If you are not aggressive at the serving line, you give the opponent a much easier chance to run their offense in system, and a much higher likelihood of an immediate side out.

I've said it before... Serve receive is the key to seeing up the hitters. We didn't do that well. Swindle was chasing the ball all over to get the set.

I am a fan of the play of our setter. What Saige had that Ella doesn't is good first ball passing, and the fact that we struggle to put the ball away.

That was fun! But the ladies could have at least swept them last night. I was late getting over to Moody from Gregory for the men's b-ball game against Rice. :smile1::hookem:

LHN was no help. They stayed with VB until the end, then switched to BB. Whether in person or on TV, fans missed the front end of the basketball game.
This situation is one of the reasons I make sure I have the ESPN app available. It may be hard to watch on the phone but at least you can watch. Last week I was watching basketball on a big screen and the volleyball match on my phone.

This is the Volleyball thread. Perhaps LNH thought that was worthy of missing a few minutes of the opening BB game against Rice not exactly a nail biting game .
The Volleyball Horns just won their 7th Conference championship and last. A pretty great accomplishment wouldn't you say??

btw IF it had been a crucial game for the BBall team do you not think LHN would have gone to that game?

No. They would have stayed with Volleyball to the end, and that is how it should be. I would have been pissed if they had switched from VB to BB before the end.

All I was pointing out was that LHN's coverage would not have made the situation for @VulcanHorn any better.

Zoe was a joy to watch last year but it seems Emma has not only raised her game to a similar level-- she has brought the team with her. Tremendous hustle yesterday by all the team.

Another Conference Championship....
This team is so much better than they were at the start of the season. This is the way we want to enter the Tourney. Forget about the seeding, if we play our best we could win this thing again.:bevo:

Awesome to celebrate this season's seniors. Question, why was Reilly Heinrich with the group of seniors? On the roster list on TexasSports.com, she's listed as a junior? Explains why she was a starter for the final match against Tceh.

Maybe has graduated and ready to move on with career/life. If so Good Luck & Success to her. Longhorn Forever:bevo:

I'm gonna say it again...Emma Halter should be an All-American. I've seen others list their top 5 and not include her...insane. She is very good at every aspect of her position. Enough said.:bevo:

I would love see us raise our hitting % in tourney. That would help our defense with the shorter rallys. Just be the best version of ourselfs. We can beat anyone if we do. Our opponent is on our side of the net. I don't care who we play.:bevo:
