2023 Texas Rangers

We caught a break, per mlb.com the ALCS starts Sunday. Dunning, Monty @ Baltimore

Evo , after today, will need some time to recover. Schedule gives us a break so Evo gets a full week off and starts Wednesday. Haeney on Thursday

This makes Haeney available to pitch a couple of innings late in game 1 on Sunday and still have a full tank for his Thursday start. Hate to get my hopes up, but..

ALDS starts Saturday. so it should be dunning/Perez maybe for game 1(unless they go Heaney but Dunning is our lowest era starting pitcher currently) Montgomery for 2. Monday day off. eovaldi for game 3 in Arlington. Heaney for 4. Dunning/Perez for 5. Montgomery for 6 again. I mean it could vary depending on wins/losses throughout the series.

now im all of a sudden thinking, hell if we win vs Baltimore, gray could possibly be avaliable. I mentioned earlier how I wanted TB because we played them well always. and we played orioles solid also. we sucked vs Astros and twins. Hopefully that series goes 6/7.

That's odd, yesterday mlb.com had game 1 listed for Sunday. Just checked again, says we start Saturday.

Your pitching scenario above is the likely one

One benefit of the schedule is that if Montgomery starts game two of ALDS he can also start game five on full four days rest as there are travel days before and after games 3 and 4 making it a normal 4 day rest for him. That means Dunning/Perez are just in a game one starter role and then are long relief for the rest of series. I prefer Baltimore to Houston in the ALDS but the Rangers have a tough hill to climb in this upcoming series. Really need the bats to stay lively and hope the pitching that showed up in Tampa is the norm for this series too and not a two game blip. That said, The Rangers gave up only 1 run in each of the last two regular season games as well so the pitching has been pretty good of late both starting and out of the pen.

I am just glad we will wake up Saturday morning with the Rangers still playing. :texasflag:

I see yesterdays game in Tampa was lowest attended game in playoff history

It was Sunday evening when MLB finalized all the Tuesday start times. The 3pm local start time was poor for anyone to attend but especially on short notice. Kids are just getting out of school! Of course, TB has had attendance problems in general due to old stadium and location in St. Pete relative to Tampa (only two bridges to get across the bay). You'd think a new stadium would aim for Tampa like the football and hockey teams have, but nope. MLB announced a new baseball stadium to be right next to the current one.

Rs up 3 to 2, bottom 6, 2 out. Dunning pitched well, being pulled for will smith

Queue the aggy photo where Corp geeks are squeezing their nuts vs tceh

Can we stop going to Chapman in high leverage situations? Tons of velocity, but he basically closes his eyes and throws as hard as he can.

Some defensive gems late in the game. Jung and Simien teaming on a huge dp grounder in the 8th Jonah throwing out the leadoff runner in the 9th for out #1

Rangers continue their playoff stellar pitching run as clutch pitching and clutch plays gets game one 3-2.

Still have to win two more but now Rangers will have Montgomery and Eovaldi for the next two and Montgomery for game five as needed.

LETS GO RANGERS!:texasflag:

Very nice W for the Rangers - helps (a little) soften the disappointment from the ou game. Rangers have a decent chance to win this series - taking the first game in Baltimore is a great start.

I kept an eye on this game but I was totally focused on RRR today.

SO PLEASED with this first win in a critical 5 game series.

Will be fully plugged in Sunday!

In Montgomery I trust!

Go Rangers!! :texasflag:

We need to improve our pitchers's walks, and outside of our rookies, our hitters need to settle down. 16 strikeouts? A lot of Swiss cheese swings - 11 Ks by Semien, Grossman, and Garcia. Frankly, they could use some advice from Carter.

But excellent win overall. Jung and Carter are the most exciting young Rangers I've seen since the days of Ruben Sierra and Juan Gonzalez. They're stepping up in very big ways and in the biggest of games. Jung saved Aroldis Chokeman's *** with his defense.

I was tuned in to Texas ou 99.9% of the time to be honest. As soon as the game was over I switched

Maybe just maybe the pitching is coming around in a consistent manner. Crossing fingers

I think I saw/read that Scherzer might be available. What was the extent of his injury? Is it feasible that he could contribute in some meaningful way?

Game 2 vs birds....

Rangers were cruising 5-2 T3

Bird pitchers load the bases and GARVER CRUSHES A PITCH FOR A GRAND SLAM!!!!

9-2 :bounce1::bounce2:

Arm soreness IIRC.

SCHERZER pitched 2 inning simulated game innings on Friday, no soreness. DMN says he is not expected for series with Baltimore but hinted may be ready after that if Rangers advance.

If what lm seeing today holds and Rangers win to go up 2-0 in best of 5, coming home to Globe Life for 2 games... I just dont believe birds can win 3 in a row!

^^^ bullpen pitching is hit or miss.
Serious pitching challenges for the Rangers...

Trusting Bochy pitching analysis to get the right pitcher in at key times to get outs and win games vs lefty / righty lineups for the opponents.

Going to T8... Good Guys still up 10-5 !!!

Suspect Chapman and Leclerc to close 'em down and get 'er dunn!!!

Very IMPRESSIVE WINS!

Rangers 2-0 coming back to Arlington Tuesday night...

OMG - wish I was there! Globe Life Field will be ON FIRE :fire: and ROCKIN' !!!

Until the final out I wasn’t counting any chickens with this bullpen but today the bats showed up and the first truly bad pitching performance overall this post season was covered up by a lineup that can just flat pound people when they are on. The Rangers come home just needing one so let’s get it Tuesday evening.

LETS GO RANGERS!:texasflag:

I said that this was a poor pitching performance overall but actually Cody Bradford and his 3 2/3 scoreless was the difference in the slugfest so shout out to him because he will be a Ranger for a while and this playoff performance gives me hope for him.:texasflag:

Very glad to see a win, but our pitching can't be this bad and go to the World Series. Our starters need to pitch much deeper into the games, and our bullpen can't hemorrhage bsse runners like it has.

If, the Rangers get to AL championship game vs. Astros (and they should up on O's 2-0) they will get Scherzer back in the rotation. If he will be the old Scherzer or rusty version... we dont know.

But, the Rangers, Bochy, Maddux will have back in play: Eovaldi, Dunning, Scherzer, Heaney... maybe Gray?

Too early to speculate on chances in WS. Long way to go......

Nice W today in Baltimore. Rangers come home with a 2-0 lead in the series. I think they can get one win in the next two games - series won't go back to Baltimore.

I believe that Jon Gray comes off the 15 day DL this coming weekend now whether he will be ready to pitch or not if the Rangers can advance to the ALCS is another question. Scherzer has been throwing bullpen sessions and seems like he may be ready, but are the Rangers willing to chance it? For a possible World Series that seems like a reasonable gamble. Texas has won first two on th road before (Toronto 2015) and still lost a series so nothing is finished yet.:texasflag:
