2023 Texas Rangers

Disappointing to see that the D'Backs didn't take today's game seriously. The outcome of that game had an impact on the standings - Arizona owed it to the sanctity of baseball to put forth their best effort.

Thank you to all the kind and good sports Astros fans that commented here.

Congrats to the Astros!

So pleased with the Rangers incredible turnaround & success despite numerous injuries along the way.

Let the playoffs begin!

Why do you say they didn't take it seriously?

They had WC considerations of their own as well...they weren't just playing out the string...

What a weird playoff system. I sort of wish they would do away with "tradition" and adopt all other leagues methods and do a seeding based off records not necessarily division champions. I know....blaspheme!!

My pipe dream, will never happen

Whittle # of franchises down to 24. Both leagues with 12 teams. No divisional playoffs, go directly from end of season to the world series. Forget tie breakers, hold a 1 game playoff to determine any tie for 1rst place

MB makes a GREAT point about pitch clocks damaging some arms. I believe a greater culprit is a month's worth of playoff baseball played after a ridiculously long regular season.

For us that are old enough to remember the pre 1969 format, the world series was a much anticipated event. Now it's just the end of a long slugfest, survival of the deepest quality pitching staff that hasn't been ravaged by the DL

Impressive improvement for the Rangers this season. The poor pitching staff has their work cut out for them against Tampa Bay.

With how terrible the Astros played over August and September, it's hard to believe they are division champs. Some rest should be nice to prep for Minnesota / Toronto winner. Concerning for Houston is it's a home series!

I would like to see the Rangers and Astros get to the championship series. That would be fun to watch. The Rangers got a tough playoff hand dealt to them because they slotted into the five-spot getting TB (probably the best team in the AL right now) and then the Orioles. Had the Astros lost the final game they would have been in the six-spot facing the Twins.

It's weird how Seager can't hit a lick in Seattle. He's been hit twice in the last few games. I seriously hate that part of baseball. I don't admire it. It's losers refusing to win straight up. No. Instead they have to cowardly hit the batter. I give no respect to a pitcher who does that.

The D'Backs knew that the outcome of their game could have an impact on both the Astros and the Rangers. Yet they chose to "rest" their best, conceding the game to the Astros.

1) have you SEEN the Astros hit lately?
2) they KNEW they had a WC game...can you blame them for wanting a rested 1 and 2?
3) have you seen how miserable the Astros have been against scrubs? The A's and Royals would NOT have had the '27 Yankees soiling themselves?

not to mention Seattle had absolutely nothing to play for vs rangers, yet threw their ace and started all their regular starters. Astros should've won the division 2 weeks ago, then rangers should've won it this weekend. can look at a million things when it all came down to the last game of the season. the Thursday night Chapman meltdown really crushed the rangers shot at the division with Astros owning the tiebreaker.

since the rangers have such a depleted pitching staff, I have no issues playing TB instead of twins or whoever. rangers were very bad vs Houston and twins this year. we played decent vs tb and orioles. really sucks losing gray now. evoaldi is horrible after 2/3 innings now after coming back from injury. Montgomery and dunning with Perez are now are best pitching options.

I'm really just glad to make the playoffs. we're literally playing with house money with nothing to lose now.

I've enjoyed making fun of the Rangers over the last half-decade, and hope to be back in that place soon. Nothing warms the heart quite like the cycle of early season optimism, mid-season disappointment, and late-season despair.

For now, though, the Rangers deserve kudos on a great season. And who knows, maybe this isn't the end of the line for them. The pitching staff is not in a great place right now, but anything can happen in October.

Totally different teams but the Rangers have a great record in Tampa in the playoffs so I am going with irrational and probably undeserved optimism as my feeling for todays game.

LETS GO RANGERS!:texasflag:

No score, end of 1

Evan Carter robs tb of an rbi base hit with a superb catch in left to end the inning.

We're looking at getting blown out in this series but with Carter, Jung coming into real stardom to compliment Simien, seager etc, this is a team with a real future. Just add 2 bullpen arms and don't run our starters so deep , things can really go well for this franchise.

First 2 runners reach for tb, bunt popped up and Montgomery makes an OUTSTANDING catch near the baseline for 1rst out

Saved a run

Watched most of game at TGI Fridays in terminal B at DFW before getting on plane. Just landed and very happy to see the Rangers held on to win. Montgomery was nails and let us not forget that was a huge move by CY at the trade deadline. Still need one more in Tampa and the clincher is always the hardest.

LETS GO RANGERS!:texasflag:

Tampa definitely gift-wrapped that game and handed it to the Rangers - four Tampa errors. Terrific pitching by the Rangers. Pressure now shifts to Tampa for Game Two.

Wooohooo!!

4-0 vicktree!!

Long day at the office... could not even track the game!

Look forward to highlights this evening.
