2023 Texas Rangers

Would like to see Ranger ownership see some reward for the money they spent. Yes spending money on broken old pitchers is a big risk, but the fact that they did was a breath of fresh air in Arlington.

Gray scratched for Sat.

Bullpen game means a loss IMO.

Perez might be rested and capable to start if Bochy and Maddux trust him.

Rangers are positioning themselves with the great swooners such as Perry Como, Bing Crosby and even Sinatra...

Wait...I'm being told those last three were CROONERS and should not be confused with late season swooners.

But to close, NONE should he confused with the sooners, also known as gooners, who will ALWAYS suck no matter the time of day.

Jays lost...they sit at 89-72 now.

Tomorrow will probably set some viewing records since there could be three at 89-72 and one at 88-73 if HOU and SEA post a win tonight...

I feel like robby Coltrane in the movie Let It Ride, hoping Trotter wins "just this one". Hang on rangers

We're going to be crushed in the playoffs with the arms on the DL, but at least getting to the playoffs is nice

Rangers relievers would be crushed by HOU since even Chapman calls them Daddy LOL!

So tomorrow's game will mean something - if the Rangers win, they win the West. If Houston loses, Rangers win the West. So far the Diamondbacks haven't helped, so the Rangers might as well take things into their own hands and beat Seattle (Mariners were eliminated from playoff spot when Houston won tonight).

Glad to see the Rangers in the playoffs. Not sure how we'll do with our inconsistent pitching (especially the bullpen), but considering how badly this team has sucked for the last several years, the fact that we got anywhere near a playoff berth is a major accomplishment. I hope they go all the way, but I'm already incredibly pleased with this team.

102 losses in 2021, 94 losses last year, to a season for the ages and 90 wins with still a game to play. This year has been extraordinary and would have felt so hollow if the Rangers hadn't at least made the playoffs. Win today and I put this year up there with just about any you can pick for most "magical" Rangers regular season ever. Bochy has just done a phenomenal job and when you consider how many injuries this team overcame it becomes even more extraordinary. Getting a week to reset by winning the division would be huge and if my math is right would avoid a trip to Tampa for the wild card mini series as I think the Rangers now finish ahead of Toronto in the WC chase and would actually be worse off then the third WC who gets the Twins a team that hasnt won a playoff game in almost three decades.

So one more win to clinch the West.

Rangers get the wild card barring a complete collapse by the Astros. Six outs to go with an 8-0 lead...

What a frustrating Sunday afternoon. Great pitching and no offense to be seen. On to Tampa and what will be a huge mountain to climb getting out of the WC. But hey it’s playoff baseball and the Rangers are involved so baseball life is good.

As an Astros fan, I quite enjoyed it.

The fact that Texas was even in the same conversation as the Astros this year after being so far behind the past seven years as a team and as an organization is a huge step forward for the Rangers. Houston is still the bell weather and for Texas to get where Houston is and has been, is the goal. The Rangers came up short this year but with Scherzer back in 2024, DeGrom hopefully as an August addition, and the lineup just about entirely back, 2024 sets up to be a season long 3 team race between Texas, Houston and Seattle with all 3 likely playoff contenders again.

90 wins was a pipe dream in March and it became reality. Now if the Rangers can make any kind of run here in the payoffs its all cherry on top for a wildly successful 2023.

And one last point on the regular season, Bruce Bochy is runaway manager of the year or the award is meaningless, what he did in Arlington this year is just phenomenal.

I’m happy for the Rangers success. But I’ve been an Astros fan for 50 plus years. Playoffs should be great.

Just for fun I went back and read the first ten pages of this season long thread, the early season success, the injury to deGrom, the injuries to Seager and others, the ups and downs, my own early season hope that the Rangers could just be around .500 in September. Fun year to go back and relive.

I just hope they rethink the WBC nonsense.. it was the proximate cause of a lot of injuries IMO. The pitch clock should also be re-evaluated since the change in routine likely also contributed to some of the injuries we saw across the sport...

It’s not over yet! And (as an Astros fan) we both know how much fun and intensely excruciating post season baseball is. Best of luck to the Rangers in the post season.

So the Stros and Rangers tie with a 90-72 record but the Astros get the division I guess based on head to head getting the #2 overall AL seed. Meanwhile the Rangers with the same record get to play Tampa Bay in the wild card game who was one win shy of 100 wins because Baltimore won 101?

What a weird playoff system. I sort of wish they would do away with "tradition" and adopt all other leagues methods and do a seeding based off records not necessarily division champions. I know....blaspheme!!
