I'm pretty much resigned to the Astros winning the AL West - they have an easy schedule the rest of the way. Focus now goes to the Rangers winning the last Wild Card slot. Lots of games remaining against the Mariners, so that will help - but it would really help to gain some ground on the Blue Jays. Hence, the emphasis on the upcoming four-game series in Toronto.
 
Nice to pull away today and get the win. 14 games over .500 but still on outside looking in at the playoffs. Really need to take 3 of next 4 to keep playoff spot on the table.
 
Rangers put up a 5-spot in top of 7th to stretch the lead to 10-3. Now in top of 8. Dunning went 6 innings - 3 runs, 6 hits, 3 BB, 7 K. A bit concerned by the walks, but nonetheless a quality start. And very nice to see the Rangers getting the offense cranked up again. Need to win at least 3 of these 4 in Toronto.
Meanwhile...A's up 2-0 on the Astros in the 6th, Angels/Mariners just underway on the coast.
 
Now top of ninth, Rangers up 10-4. A's stretch the lead on Houston - 3-0, top of eight. Mariners plate 3 in bottom of first, Angels respond with two in top of second. Now 3-2, Mariners, 2nd inning.
 
Rangers get huge win to start this four game set up in Canada the right way. Houston loses to the A’s so that puts the Rangers one back in loss column to them and tied in loss columns with Seattle and Toronto pending the Mariners-Angels game. 19 game sprint to finish these next three weeks.
 
Very nice to get this 10-4 win on the road vs a good team.

Now build some momentum with a good outing by Scherzer on Tues.!!!

So glad we've plugged the gaping hole in the hull.

It's great that Evan Carter was brought up. His excitement is great for the team's morale. They see how honored and thrilled he is and it can lift their spirits and remember why they're their. It doesn't hurt that he's played well.

So far, so good tonight in Toronto. Rangers up 3-0, going to top of 7tth inning. Scherzer had a good outing - went 5-1/3, 3 hits, 1 BB, 2 K. Leclerc on to finish 6th. Grossman with a 2-run homer, Heim with a Sac Fly.
Meanwhile, in Houston - A's up 3-1 in top of 2nd inning.
Angels and Mariners not underway yet in Seattle.
 
Add two more on RBI doubles by Smith and Seager. Now 5-0, going to bottom of 7th in Toronto.
Meanwhile, A's still up on Houston, 3-1, going to bottom of 2nd.
Angels/Mariners later start on the coast.
 
Evidently Scherzer had a good outing.

Caught the game late... pleased to see the Good Guys up 5-2 T8th!!!
 
Toronto plates 2, Rangers now up 5-2, going to bottom of the 8th. A's add a run and now lead Houston 4-1, going to bottom of 4th. Angels/Mariners later.
 
Rangers add one in top of 9th, now 6-2. Going to bottom of 9th.
Astros plate one, now 5-2, A's leading, going to top of 6th.

Houston still trails A's 5-2, bottom of the 7th. Mariner plate three in bottom of 1st, lead Angels 3-0.
Rangers lead Blue Jays for 2nd Wild Card by 1/2 game. Still need to win at least one of the last two in Toronto.
 
Scherzer left with triceps pain after 5 1/3 which is concerning but hopefully it was precautionary and doesn’t affect his next start though we shall see. Rangers now are 1 game up in loss column on both Toronto and Seattle and just need Oakland to not choke away a 4 run lead in the ninth to be tied with Houston in the loss column. 18 huge games left to try and get to October baseball.
 
Oakland beats Houston for second night in a row and the Rangers are now tied in the loss column with the Astros and at least a game ahead of Seattle in the loss column pending the Mariners late game with the Angels. Great start to the week for the Rangers but they can’t slow down as every night this week and every night for the next three weeks will be a huge game.
 
Winning again is fun!

So far, 4-1 last two series... astros losing was a dividend!

Would love to get a sweep on Wed.!!
 
A's beat Astros 6-2. Rangers now even with Astros in the Loss column, 1 game back for AL West lead. Not getting any help from Angels tonight - Mariners up 7-0, going to top of 5th in Seattle.
I'm pleasantly surprised - didn't expect the A's to give the Rangers any help, but so far they have done nicely in Houston.
