2023 Recruiting - Football

Someone said the 2 Hawaiian players were on the light side. Check out the size of the father of the Hawaiian LB recruit:

Love seeing this …

Top right looks like big-time '24 S Peyton Woodyard, who Texas has been after for a while and is a teammate of Moore.

Peyton Woodyard, St. John Bosco, Safety

Someone mentioned our line not being the same level as the skill positions.

It did seem like the state didn't have a lot of Top tier trench talent. We had Hicks, Shelby, and Deal on defense, and no OL in the Top 100 this year.

So makes sense that we might have harder time. I know we're recruiting nationally, but I assumed we'd have a harder time this year.

I do like our Edge guys we got.

Call me not concerned - at all — regarding the OL recruits. We had an epic/perhaps historic haul in 22, and took more developmental players in this class. Between the two, 12 in all.

Consider this: We just passed on Brockermeyer, the # 1 OL in the 21 class. That tells me everything I need to know about the recruiting mindset of the coaches.

He had his chance but with the OL we have now it is apparent the coaches feel good about present talent....

Landing at TCU after he rejected Horn's and then left Ala, is a good outcome for him....good for him!!

We JUST passed on Brockermeyer? What did I just miss?
We didn’t pass on Tommy. He was set on TCU from the moment he entered the portal. His family has very close ties to Sonny Dykes. Blake worked with Dykes at smu. James will likely wind up at tcu too.

Really wonder if there is hurt feelings from binder boy and the Brockermeyers or if the OL is just filled at Texas. Hate to see a legacy and what was originally a top 10 national recruit not be here. Wish him the best and hope we are headed in the right direction. If QE can work on reading the defense and accuracy then this offense could be world class.

Alabama OT transfer Tommy Brockermeyer commits to TCU

Did Texas officially “pass?” The indications I have read from various sources and sites has been essentially. - that ship had sailed.
What a shame. Sad to see a legacy like that end up like this. Was he massively overrated?

We will likely have 3 starters next year from last year’s OL class. Eventually I see 6 OL starters from the class if it plays per normal.
