2023-24 Transfer Portal Thread (CLosed-Opens APRIL 15TH)

Never have liked Braums, but I will concede that Whataburger is a shell of its former self since Chicago got involved. For five plus years, I had a Whataburger sausage & biscuit for breakfast almost every day. When Chicago changed vendors, I took one bite and didn't go back until about two weeks ago when I stopped through the drive thru. I was grateful that they had a trashcan at the end of the drive thru because I took one bite and the rest was tossed. My grandson tells me, "not everybody can be Chris Madrid's"

Unfortunately even Madrid's isn't what it used to be. They did all they could after Chris passed to keep it fabulous but once they eventually had to sell it's lost a step or two. I've always wondered about the fascination with Whataburger - it's a good fast food burger but it's still fast food. Braums, well let's just say not a fan...

OTF wrote this morning they are monitoring another CB prospect Texas has real interest in other than Tacario Davis.

It's not Cormani McClain.

Here is what Burton at OTF wrote this morning on CB Terrance Brooks.

He doesn't believe NIL was a factor.

"Well, based on what I’ve been told and for whatever reasons, Texas decided to move on from Brooks as a definitive starter. It could be that he gained 12 pounds from the end of the regular season to the beginning of spring ball. For a corner already needing more top-end speed, Brooks didn’t do himself any favors. It could be that he didn’t exactly have his best spring practice either, punctuated by a coverage bust in the spring game that should be rare for a third-year player. Or it could just be the simple fact that Texas is continuously looking to upgrade its roster. And Brooks is not a lockdown corner. Rather, he’s a solid player. Better asked, is he a top-three round draft pick? Unlikely. And maybe that’s what Steve Sarkisian is looking for in a field corner."

Losing Jordan was a surprise to me. I thought he would stick around and improve when healthy.
Brooks was not a good fit at DB to his lack of any speed and really bad cover skills. Good luck to both of them. We are slowly and methodically getting rid of the DB’s that were toasted by receivers last year.

Sabre, Whataburger was not the same even before the Chicago hedge fund bought them.
The WB of 1972 was damn good in Waco. But Chuc Wagun was my absolute favorite as a kid. Still miss them to this day.
I fully subscribe to the theory that Sysco Foods (corporate office-Htown)i totally destroyed Texas taste buds with their no flavor and fake ingredients, burger meat, and fake chicken fried steak patties. All the restaurants that used them were definitely ruined.
Whataburger doesn’t use them but still managed to screw the pooch on beef and bun quality.
I try to stick with small family owned burger cafes that DON’T use Sysco meat or ingredients. Usually much better.

If we are going back to the past then it would be negligent not to mention the Holiday House Charbroiled Burgers with the exotic bird aviary and alligator on Barton Springs

Sorry I started all this. By now, shouldn’t we have Williams’ commitment? After all, we took him and his family to dinner last night.
