Fifth player!

Not trying to dump on ISU and their coach, but a few years ago when I watched him up close at home games, I would see him TEARING into his players when he called a timeout. Mike Carey had the same behavior with his players. When I wondered out loud on this forum why there weren't more transfers from his team at the end of each season, several people pointed out that his game time persona and his every day gym persona might be completely different and the fireworks during the games didn't bother the players. But.....I don't know, maybe players aren't putting up with it anymore?

All coaches get on their players.. Vic included. But Fennelly is super extra all the time, and has been for as long as I can remember.

It’s a wholesale dumpster fire n Ames. And they have a MDAA coming. Just wow and unbelievable how everything has fallen apart after a Big 12 tournament championship.

Martinez is a good player and may be drafted, but if she signs with yet another college team, that would have to be close to some kind of record.

If I’m a coach I’m immediately calling her because a couple of things she can go hands down. Everytime she was called on she answered. She practiced against Faye and Tay Jones. Low maintenance don’t need to run no plays for her. If she goes mid major will likely make a all conference team If healthy that’s how high I am on her. I’m rooting for her!!

I'm definitely rooting for her also. I'd love for KA to pick her up and keep her in the UT system. Best wishes Femme!

Btw I believe Jayda curry is on a visit at Louisville
I saw the follows of some Louisville players yesterday and a few more today, so I figured that might be the case as well. She will probably take her share of visits before she decides this time, as she has several interested programs. Shaylee had more than 80 interested programs after she entered the portal and took at least 3 official visits that we know of before settling on the good guys. We need to compete for the best of the best because we only have 2 slots.

Insights into why Iowa State is imploding this off-season. Emily Ryan has reaffirmed her commitment to Iowa State.

Denae Fritz on why Iowa State women are entering the transfer portal

"What is Fritz looking for?

"A faster-paced offense," she said. "That's all I'm going to say.
"

Do you think we play a slow type of offense which turns off some players?

Another thing. Some of these players go into ISU knowing that's the way they've always played offense. Maybe they didn't realize it was that tedious?

Good luck to Femme.

It's unfortunate, but neither one of the 2 JUCO's Vic signed in November 2020 worked out. Hasn't seemed like we've shown much if any interest in other JUCO's since. I guess a JUCO has to be really special as the transfer portal and immediate eligibility for Division I has pushed JUCO recruiting to the side quite a bit.

Kansas' Center came from JUCO and she definitely had an impact. So, the difference-makers do exist at that level.

This is what I was going to call out - Fennelly has been running the same style since before most of the players on the roster were born.

I read the article. It was kind of laughable. First of all, I can't name anyone on that roster not named Donarski or Ryan. Second, the reporter pretty much refutes the excuse for leaving. Third, I can't imagine any of these players (other than Donarski) landing on a better team. There has to be more going on here than just the style of offense. A lot of these players jump in just because they have that one "free" transfer and they see so many other players jumping in. But we already know from the last NCAA study on this topic that only 57% of players who jumped into the portal reported landing at another NCAA member school. The grass is always greener until it isn't:

Maybe the offense feels slow when you are not involved in it. It seemed to me the ISU offense featured seemingly interminable dribbling by either Ryan or Joens. Ashley’s own sister couldn’t handle it and left for OU after last season. She said ISU wanted her to hang out in the corner and shoot threes. She thought she could do more. Fritz will land somewhere.

I certainly agree with you on the grass is always greener part. I've said that 1000x. But I certainly won't mind that trip to Ames being a little easier next year.

Most of the responses have been supportive but this comment in the replies to Lexi's Portal announcement:

"Emily will take them to the final 4 next year"

They had their most talented team in memory this season and didn't make it past the 1st round. ISU will be lucky to make the Final 4 of the Big12 tournament next year. #delusional

KK Deans is in the transfer portal after a season at Florida which was preceded by 3 seasons at West Virginia. Not that I think we'll be her choice, but I think she would fit in great here, and would not affect the 2024 scholarship numbers.

From one "Christian" university to another. Looks like she's a good shooter from 3.
Seems like an odd choice considering Baylor's glut of forwards: Littlepage-Buggs (Soph), Fontleroy (Soph), Blackwell (Sr?), Edwards (R-Sr), Abraham (So), Porter (Jr).
