2022 Transfer Season

Blair liked the tweet as well. The fact that she went to Cal, and some of the other schools that she considered in high school tells you that academics is very important to her. I looked at her Cal bio and it said that she was interested in majoring in Business. The McCombs school being one of the best in the country cant hurt.
Since then, Aaliyah Moore and Shay Holle's father liked the tweet, as well.

Admittedly, our depth at Center is thin with the Lattimore departure. But Fatou has not exactly lit it up in her two years at Cal, getting even less minutes her 2nd year.

Hoping we can do better.

We only know about Fields because of Moooooo's expert social media detective-work, and the fact that Fields has a proud Father who posted that really cool edit that someone with TexasWBB apparently put together. That tells me it is very likely there are other potential transfers Vic and Co. are communicating with.
Yep.. and throw into that equation how Vic and his staff typically hold the cards pretty close to the chest.

Some of us are speculating that Lattimore doesn't want to play Center. If that's the case, her leaving didn't affect our depth at that position.

If Fatou Samb actually wants to play Center, then that in itself is a better option than someone who is not willing to play down low, and who instead wants to play more on the wing and handle the ball. I don't think Fatou has done enough to be the transfer starting Center that we all want, but she is possibly a really good backup Center candidate (if she's on board with that). We're not gonna sign two Centers from the transfer portal who are both worthy of being starters; that's just a fantasy, IMO.

And, maybe Lovato can help us with Esmery Martinez.

Writeup from when Martinez signed with MSU:

One of the most intriguing players of the class and one that is a late bloomer on the recruiting scene.

The Bulldogs were one of the first to jump on board during the summer for Martinez who just missed out on a four-star rating by ESPN. She’s currently 14th at her position but luckily for MSU, they feel they got a steal in the talented player.

Martinez began opening eyes last fall with her athletic ability at the power forward position creating matchup issues. She’s been able to face up defenses and knock down shots and attack the paint to get her points. She’s also known for her rebounding ability and defense which makes her a natural fit for Schaefer’s roster.

By the end of the summer, Martinez had offers from Louisville, Florida State, UCLA, Rutgers, NC State, South Carolina and others. Her relationship with Elena Lovato won out.

Is Ahlise Hurst in the portal out of Oregon? Either she’s visiting Texas or her and Harmon are a thing and she’s just here to visit Rori.

Odd to me considering her older sister is coming back for another year, or is it?
She started off the year getting big minutes like 38 minutes a game and half way through the year dropped to sometimes 9 minutes a game. Might have wanted to get out of big sisters shadow but probably just a personal decision about her own career and playing time. Things headed the wrong direction. Understandable.

Speaking of A&M, I am very surprised Joni Taylor hasn't publicly announced any coaching staff hires.

Very puzzling indeed. The posters on Texags believe the delay in announcing her staff could hinge on the hiring of her husband, Darius Taylor. He is an assistant with the Atlanta Dream.

If Joni already has part of her staff in place, it would be in her advantage to announce it; especially someone like Chelsea Newton, her longtime assistant coach at Georgia. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Vic has reached out to Newton to fill Jackson Durrett’s spot. Newton and Lovato would be a strong duo for recruiting.

For all of you that think Vic told Ebo and Warren in so many words to leave, you are completely wrong. It was the exact opposite, he wanted them to stay and hoped they would change their minds. Lattimore was a shock but dont be surprised if another enters the portal soon. Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, Vic is extremely difficult to play for. Yes I know coaches are tough but he is a different breed. I’ve heard that he is very negative all the time, says some off the wall stuff and just plain takes the fun out of playing basketball. Plus, its not unusual for seniors to transfer to a different school for their grad year. Happens all the time

No way is that true. Sorry, we've seen/heard his positive comments about his teams and players many times.

Well, I've heard your takes on Hornfans aren't worth the "paper" they are printed on, so there's that.

Isn't it awesome how easy the internet makes it to post worthless, unsubstantiated trash as if it is gospel truth?

From reviewing your posting history, it seems like you have connections to Audrey Warren and her family. Most of us on HF’s appreciate Audrey’s contribution to the team during her time at Texas. It will be difficult to find another player who matches her toughness and no fear mentality.

Its not out of the realm of our understanding that Vic is demanding. However, I think Vic helped Audrey to excel and reach/exceed her potential. In order to do that, Audrey was also coachable and dedicated to improving. So, it’s a two way street between the coach and player. Wherever Audrey ends up, I’ll be rooting for her.

I’m not sure what you were trying to accomplish with your message other than letting us know that Vic wanted Ebo and Warren to stay. I also won’t be surprised if we have another transfer or two.

Not buying it.

I don’t know what you thought you’d accomplish coming in here with those lies. Everyone in this thread is very knowledgeable and can sense horse :e-poo: when it’s being brought to the thread. Vic has been praised by his current players and many many former players on how he cares so much for his players on and off the court. When you’re on the court it’s all business but outside of that, he cares for his players. Take the nonsense elsewhere.
