2022 Recruiting - Softball

T-3—Viviana Martinez, IF, Arizona Storm (Texas)
Viviana continues to be one of the top shortstops in the country who can do it all offensively and defensively. She is a triple threat hitter at the plate with the ability to poke holes in the defense’s vulnerable weaknesses and can exploit the infield if too far back or drive the ball in the gaps if too close. Viviana has played for Corey Mathis and his storm program for about a half dozen years and shot out of the gate as a Freshman by earning 1st Team All-State honors and Southwest Regional Player of the Year recognition after she hit .612 with 15 home runs and 44 RBIs in just 25 games. In three years of play at Tolleson (Arizona) High, the one-time Oregon commit is averaging .615 with a .689 on-base percentage with a strong 2.038 OPS. Adds Coach Mathis: “She is a stud and will impact Texas on Day 1.”Click HERE to read more about Viviana in Extra Star Power article from last year.

Props to NBhorn on all the great information on our 2022 class. Great information. Coach White is bringing in some great players.

No surprises in this class. Everyone that we had committed signed during the early signing period! A good looking pitcher, a stud shortstop and a stout group of bats! Keep working Coach White!

Citlaly Gutierrez and the Stamford High School Lady Bulldogs Basketball team made it to the Class 2A State Championship tournament next week in San Antonio. I couldn’t find any information on her stats are but being the athlete she is I’m sure she is a big contributor to the team.

Citaly’s team dropped a 1-0 decision. The run is wasn’t earned and she struck out 11 of the 18 outs (Stamford was the visitors).

I watched the game on NFHS and it was a tough loss. Citlaly batted and struck out 3 times. 2 of those time she had runners on second and third with 2 outs. You have to make your own luck but she just couldn’t make contact. The pitcher for Lovelady, Mercy LaRue, has signed to a Junior College in Bossier City, La., and was very good in her own right.
Citlaly is a very good looking prospect. Tall (5-11/6 ft) and strong in a Hailey Dolcini sort of way. She’s a flame thrower, obvious by the strike out count, but with not too much discipline with her ball strike count. Didn’t throw a lot of balls. Calling pitches is one area where I think Mike White is a great coach. Citlaly will be fun to watch grow in his system.

Leighann Goode and the O’Connor Panthers win against El Paso Americas 7-5 and advance to the state championship game tomorrow. She went 2 of 4 with a double and a single and one rbi.

Leighann Goode is front and center on San Antonio Express High School sports awards edition. She comes to Texas with a lot of fan fare. Hope she is that good.
