2022 Recruiting - Football

I remember the buzz about him but its a little concerning if he is unhappy before he gets onto campus. Hope he is not a head case if he comes to Texas! Its hard to guage our receiving corp with Smith out. I think Whittington is a huge difference maker "if he can stay healthy". I think Washington may be but we need to have offense designed to hit these guys on the move more so they can use their talents. I know I hate this statement but blowu does this with their system. Hope Sark can add that to our production.
I think Whit and Smith will be a great one-two punch.
We need a burner to open up the middle or take advantage if the middle is covered.

You mean just don't run in a straight line until the Officials blow a whistle?

Yes, but never a thought to come back and help your QB out. Extra points for getting 50-60 yards downfield when your QB can only throw 45.

Doesn't help when you send him over the middle because they don't need to cover him since no way he ever goes after a ball in front of DBs. He might break a fingernail.

Reportedly speedy WR Xavier Worthy is only 155 lbs.

for comparison, Devontae Smith is listed at 175 lbs and he looked small lol

better hit that shiny new weight room Xavier

5* safety Jacoby Mathews who recently committed to LSU still plans on visiting Texas ...

per TFB, Now then, Jacoby’s father tells me that they will still be taking their official visit to Texas. I know that Jacoby has spoken at length about how much he likes the state of Texas and I am still very curious to see how he feels after he’s seen all the shiny things at Texas and in Austin versus a place like LSU and Baton Rouge. He’s been pretty open about the fact that that stuff matters to him. And by “stuff” I mean, a nicer place to live and a place that can set you up to be successful outside of football so you can continue living in that place

Vanderbilt transfer S Donovan Kaufman told 247 that he is down to Auburn and Texas, and he wants to make a decision in about two weeks so he can enroll at his new school in June.

If those numbers are correct, he has the speed and reach of a quality CB, but with the height, he would make a great safety.

Is there a hidden problem we are not seeing?

No offense intended to Murph but I would love to trade him for Ewers...but I don't see it happening

Murphy seems all in. Ewers is warming up to returning to the class, however, I hear Texas has taken the pressure off . . . meaning a phone call can be made and last an hour and football never come up.

This is a good thing. This is Ewers call.

Murphy is just undeveloped, period. All the tools are there and you can see stardom in his future when you watch him play. But Ewers can arrive ready to play. Murphy will take a couple of years before he's ready.
would love to get Murphy and Ewers but realistically I don’t see it working. Ewers is much further along in development because I’m certain he has had the best coaching money can buy for years.
My question is what Murphy will look like after Sark has him for 18 months? I believe he is the most physically gifted of the two. If he responds to coaching Ewers might not be able to hold him off. One of the two will not finish at Texas I just hope we get to choose when that time comes. Both on campus will make both better in my opinion.

This, to me, is the difference. Ewers could be better prepared to step in and play now, but Murphy (with the right coaching to your point) can close that gap quickly and with Thompson and Hand in front of them to provide the necessary time for Sark to do his thing, I'd rather have the kid that already bleeds orange than the one who needs convincing.

If Ewers comes here, he’ll be full throttle to start, win, and go pro. The recruiting process won’t matter then. Heck, OU wasn’t put off by Mayfield, Murray and Hurts actually playing for other teams before getting there, much less which other teams they first liked while still playing HS ball. Ewers didn’t like Herman. In retrospect, can you blame him? He did like UT. Maybe we can still get him.

Don't get me wrong, if Ewers wants to come I'd welcome him with open arms. Maybe I'm misreading the sentiment, but it feels like some are saying let Murphy go elsewhere and go after Ewers if he shows interest. If Herman was his concern, he's gone and the concern should be gone in spades as well given the QB developer that Sark has proven to be. If he's as gung ho about Texas as claimed I would have expected a flip already. I don't begrudge him for taking his time, or even sticking with the Buckeye commitment, but to easily turn away from the talent and potential Murphy brings just seems short-sighted to me.

To the other point about OU and their transfer QB history, the success speaks for itself indeed. I'll be happy to see someone with that talent level come here (albeit without the douche bag personality of Mayfield and Murray), but I'd be even happier if we grow that talent in house and not rely on free agency.
