2022 Recruiting - Football

All I know is pretty clear only reason Ewers and Burton aren't committed here already at present is starts with T and H and rhymes with Bom Ferman

Plenty of fish in the sea, and from what I’ve read Klubnik (sp?) is right up there with Ewers.

I’m not worried about getting players on offense, Sark’s recruiting pitch is stronger than any past coaches that I remember on that side of the ball.

We just have to seize the momentum with a new hire, and we look to be doing so. I’d put money on a top 5 class in 2022. For any recruiting gurus, how’s the 2022 in-state talent compare to recent years?

Bo Davis is looking at three 2022 DTs inside the state
Bear Alexander (Denton Ryan)
Jaray Bledsoe (Bremond)
Kristopher Ross (North Shore)
Ross - “Coach Davis told me Texas wants to build a relationship with me, and he was telling me he likes my game.” Bo Davis coached at North Shore way back.

Those are the DTs we are after^^^
The SSDEs we are hotly pursuing, at least for now, are Ernest Cooper (Arlington Martin) and Omari Abor (Duncanville). Competing with Stanford for Cooper (usually not a good sign for us) and ou, tOSU and Bama for Abor.

More on Ross

Ross has impressive initial quickness, long arms and big hands with the frame to carry 295-300-pounds.

Art Briles thinks he is #2 Qb in state
Pigpen already offered (Kendall is the OC there)

Some quotes from Chris Marshall, who is much better than his 3-star rating
On Marshall exploding on the scene as a junior: “USC was one of his first offers. (USC WR coach) Keary Colbert said he couldn’t believe how good his ball skills and hands were considering he (Marshall) hasn’t played football since little league.”
On A&M’s lead: “They do have the inside track thanks to (Devon) Achane. Achane is the one who talked Chris into playing. The guys would go mess around and play 7-on-7 and Achane would tell him he needs to put the pads on. We saw his size and had been telling him the same for a while and he finally came out. We knew he was athletic but we didn’t know he this natural.”
Marshall’s timeline: “With everything going on he hasn’t been able to have the real experience yet. It’s one thing to talk to coaches on FaceTime but they need to go see schools and meet coaches in person. Hopefully in April these kids can start making visits to get better informed.”
Did the hiring of Sarkisian get his attention?: "[Derisive laughter] Yeaaah, it caught everybody’s attention. What he did at Bama speaks for itself.”
More on Texas: “I’m a Houstonian and I remember when Mack Brown got to Texas. He recruited Houston hard. We haven’t really seen that much of late. Strong didn’t really recruit Houston. Herman did a little. You’re at Texas, you should recruit Houston and Dallas well every year. I’m curious to see who gets this area.”

Reminds me of the Joe Namath release - feet set, holds ball til last moment, then quickly flings it with a lot of wrist. But there is probably a better comp

Supposedly from an "insider" -- captured on an ou board

I'm teammates and track relay partners with Stewart, he's going to texas lol. He filmed his commitment video after practice yesterday.

and 2) he only does all the tik tok stuff because he makes bank off it. I'll almost certainly bet that had nothing to do with earning an offer or not. It's easy for me to defend him but I'd easily say there are a lot of elite high school football prospects out there who love the game a lot less than him!

Coach Sark already knows he can develop a QB, whoever we end up with. But he also needs dogs at WR (71% of passes in the Sark offense got o WRs)

The 2022 WR dogs we want are
-- Evan Stewart (see above)
-- Chris Marshall of Fort Bend Marshall - we just offered. they say he is a "high priority target for Texas." Forget the 3-star ranking. We want him to commit right away
-- CJ Williams of Mater Dei WR (a teammate of Sark’s son). Supposed to visit
-- Raleek Brown of Mater Dei ("the Tyreek Hill of this class"). As a freshman, Brown ran a 4.3 at ou’s camp. On the second run, Lincoln Riley personally timed the run and got him at around the same time. ou has been all over him for some time
-- And Brennen Thompson I assume (but other than his constant positive tweets, I have not read much on our immediate pruit of him)

Very impressive accuracy and poise in the pocket. Hope we get him.

So NOT Winfield? Or in addition to?

Another high ranked WR, 5-star Kevin Coleman has us in his top 7 with Alabama, ASU, FSU, Georgia, Oregon and Penn State. #3 WR overall.
5-star QB Maalik Murphy quickly noticed

Offer to WR Kevin Coleman of St Louis, #4 WR national per the 247 Comp
