2022 Recruiting - Football

Lots of hints and clues that Campbell is in.
It has been leaked by Orangebloods and IT. Even Suchomel “accidentally” called him a signee last week. You can also tell by the lack of buzz on OU sites. Whether it was Campbell or the coaches that leaked it, the word is pretty much out.
Major egg on faces if it doesn't really happen.

I read that and wondered if he slipped or was just not thinking right or whatever.

With someone else's players and a system of cheating set up for him long before he arrived.

When Darrell retires, Jimbo will be scrambling, but they may break the bank to bring over Tech's new OC.
Fisher became HC at FSU in 2010 and won the NC in '13. That's 4 full recruiting classes. How is that someone else's players?

And a bunch of fifth year redshirts. Jimbo wasn't coach then, and he ain't one now. He may be a sleezier Mack Brown; recruit great, but God help you on gameday.

Fisher inherited a great program, not clean, but great, and ran it into the ground. Sounds like a lot of guys passing through ND, USC, Austin, Fayetteville, Ann Arbor, Knoxville, Norman, et al.

Yeah I'm sure like 80% of their starters were redshirt seniors his first 2-3 years. He was OC for I'm 3 years before taking over and helped recruit a lot of those guys. You make a weak case.

IDE, do you care to opine about Fisher’s QB when they made the run, Jamie’s Winston? That team doesn’t win squat unless very serious allegations against Winston are basically swept under the rug, ignored by Fisher, the school and the city of Tallahassee. How convenient.

Character is not Jimbo’s strong suit. Thus, a perfect fit for the cult in College Station.

And by allegations of the sexual assault charges or whatever it was called he was obviously guilty but they.let it slide? I'd be interested to learn how you know this to be fact.Apparently you're innocent until proven guilty in this country unless you're a football player or coach you, not you personally, don't like. Can't recall if it was for the crab legs or something else but Fisher suspended him the entire game against Clemson easily their toughest game of the year.

And I don't much care about Fisher one way or the other. I just enjoy refuting fallacious arguments.

aggys and especially their BMDs would chop off both arms and legs to win a national championship. NIL is the vehicle that they are taking full advantage of - more so than any other team thus far, hence their runaway 2022 recruiting class. They are organized and willing to pony up the $$$ to buy the best recruits to put a trophy in their empty trophy case. It’s happening. It has happened. It’s absolutely legal and within the rules - the only question is what our coaches, administration and BMDs are going to do to fight fire with fire. Until the rules change, the highest bidders are gonna bring in the talent. aggy is out front on this and their first class in the NIL is scary.

it’s time to respond - put up or shut up and watch every goober load up on maroon shoes and 15 stickers on their maroon goober-mobiles stating their superiority in <fill in the blan>.

IDE,
What I’d pay to be a fly in the wall to watch you work a room at a social event.
It would be…. Fascinating. Like when I was a kid and we’d stop at a West Texas gas station and they’d display a jackalope.

This is actually on the clever side of lame. How specifically am I incorrect?

Just so we understand each other, you are contending that the changes were baseless and without merit?

Not what I said at all. How you think I implied it is a mystery. They were investigated. You're the one saying they were most likely true. I don't know and would have to research it. It's certainly possible they were. So you don't get confused they may well had merit. I'm not going to apologize for not having all the details etched in my memory.

Ok think I realize the source of confusion. My second paragraph responding to you was entirely directed at Sabre's comments about Fisher's ability as a coach. I see how you mistook them as a defense of his character. That's on me to a degree. Doesn't mean I don't still believe in due process. Are you saying no one ever gets falsely accused? Back during Strong's tenure two players were accused of similar charges. Shortly thereafter he kicked them off the team. One had the charges dropped by the DA and the grand jury no billed or refused to indict the other. How you feel about that situation?

We need portal help for OL for next season. We will get some improvement by existing guys, but not enough to offset losing our best OL to graduation. Kelvin Banks appears to be the only possible candidate for immediate playing time, not surprising why he is a 5 star rated guy. Earnest Greene, if we were to get him, might be another that could provide some help, but they would still be true frosh who got schooled here and there at best. I can't enough of a read with Campbell, if we get him, because his motor doesn't always seem to be that high. He has skill and talent, but who knows.

The rest of our supposed "historic" OL class are not yet ready for prime time. Good stock to build on, but not there yet. This isn't surprising when you look at where they are rated, mid to low 4 star and 3 star guys. You can be a 6.0 4 star talent like Kam Dewberry, 1 tenth of a point under a 6.1 rated 5 star Kelvin Banks, or you can be a 5.8 4 star, 2 tenths of a point under Kam Dewberry and only 1 tenth of a point above a high 3 star guy. Most of our 4 stars are closer to 3 star ratings than 5 star ratings.

We need help from those who are proven against D-1 talent if we want any significant improvement next year.

Yea.
He checked in last summer then turned around and went home.
Family issues or something
Anyway, he's back.

His father passed away is what I was told. He had to help the family. By everyone who knows him he’s a great kid. He’s a player who’s NIL money could really help the family.

Mike Roach always spoke highly of his work effort and tenacity. More so than any other player I remember recently. Hopefully that serves him well as he gets back into things at Texas.

portal is a blessing and curse but it aint going away ... adapt or perish

3 important Texas transfer portal targets to watch in January

I think the portal transfers will level off after a few years. I think what has fueled so much portal movement is NIL money.I know you arent supposed to talk to other teams before portal entry, but do you really believe anyone obeys that rule? A frontline starter can sort of....you know....uh....ask around and get an idea what some school will pay for him to go there. Several schools are now being interviewed about this right now by the gutless NCAA. Either a deal will be brokered or chaos will ensue. We could prosper under either scenario......and while we are looking down our nose at aTm we need to come to grips with reality. Those guys have invested in football. Nobody has better facilities. They ponied up to buy a coach while we have fumbled around. Our facilities got stale and dated. We need to up our game.

And while I am at it....I like this staff. They seem to have calmly gone about business. They played last season, got a look at what they had and politely invited nearly half the team to portal out of here. Then with a losing record they signed the #5 class in the country. That is a big deal if you ask me.

With Campbell and the portalled players, I put our class up there with Bama and Georgia. Call it top 3.
