2022 Recruiting - Football

Can anyone confirm the rumor that Coach Roy Manning was recruiting players for Riley at USC while still a member of OU staff and helping recruit for Stoops as early as yesterday ?

I heard that on local sports talk yesterday. Not sure if that provides any further proof, but they said he was in the house with Stoops recruiting the player for OU, then later that evening made a call to recruit the player for USC.

Similar .. Mater Dei DB Domani Jackson put it out there that he was texting back and forth with him about joining him USC. Not sure if it's a misunderstanding on the kids part, or if Coach Manning was actually doing it.

Yeah, Georgia 224 and Bama 221 so both about 50 more than us. Maybe we need to just offer more? :smile1:

O-line recruiting sucks according to 247. Not a single '23 offer is really considering us and only one other interested lineman in '22 outside of the current commits. I say we toss out about 50 more offers there.

This is troubling unless/until it isn't. tOSU is definitely a better program now.

What Brown may be missing is this: Who is the top performing rookie QB in the NFL this year?

Hint: He wasn't the first or second QB picked. He was the 5th, and he may well lead his team to the Super Bowl, this season. I think that he will.

I cannot change any recruit's mind but I am convinced that Mac Jones is prospering at the next level due in large part to one Steve Sarkisian. That Devin Brown or others doesn't get that is interesting. Perhaps Arch Manning will...

True. but if I’m a QB I’m also looking at my OL
Having a great QB coach is nice but running for your life every play is not so nice

Definitely agree. But if our OL isn’t better next year — perhaps much better — I’ll be very surprised. And there is no guarantee that by the time Brown is the QB in Columbus (if ever) that his OL will be stellar. In fact, by then, ours might well be better, if what people believe about Flood is true.

I’d be more hopeful if OL recruits start committing
We need big bodies that can play
