2022 Recruiting - Football

Usually I refrain from such comments but I'm sick and tired of this kid's act. Pushing back announcement multiple times. Won't be disappointed if he goes elsewhere.

Naw. He hasn't done anything outlandish and by all accounts he has kept our coaches informed.
We were his favs, jimbo gave him a good spiel and now the kid is torn but most likely is headed to gaggieville. Right now jimbo is killing it and us not so much.
But you don't give up on a kid like this.

This time of year I'm indifferent to crystal balls. Even verbals aren't exactly money in the bank for us or anyone else.

so he will need to transfer quickly if he wants to play his senior season.

Where? Only place he can play is private, so that means Jesuit, IMG, or with a bunch of little slow kids that will either drag him down or get him hurt.

I'm fine with a kid doing it once or twice. He's done it 4 or 5 times. I'm also fine with waiting as long as he wants. If he's not ready to commit don't be a prima donna.

Ronald “Champ” Lewis.

This Champ is no chump.
Undefeated in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles this spring.
Great ball skills.
8 interceptions + 9 pass break-ups last season.

14.31 110 meter hurdles
39.9 in the 300 meter hurdles
4.55 in the 40-yard dash.
good open field tackler
polished CB hip movement
Texas sees him as a corner at the next level
He’ll begin at cornerback for Texas but could potentially slide back to safety.

Lewis' school--Warren Easton High School (New Orleans, La) competes in Class 4A.

Class 4A is the next-to-highest classification. Louisiana goes up to 5A, there's no 6A in Louisiana.
Louisiana High School Athletic Association - Wikipedia.

It is my opinion that athletics in Southern/Southeast Louisiana is rather competitive.

The kid camped at Texas back in June. Both Sark and Kiwaltski (sp?) liked what they saw. His film is pretty good, too.

I am told the low rating is because he didn't hit the camp circuit last year. He did camp at Texas though and obviously impressed.

What impresses me is 8 interceptions plus an additional 9 pass break ups in his 2020 season.

Talk about some coverage skills!

If I read correctly, they do play Baton Rouge Catholic, which used to have a really good program, producing several NFL stars (two RBs for FSU, DT Todd White, and 4-5 kids that played for us including Major Applewhite)

Perhaps the biggest upset in Louisiana HS football history was West Monroe upsetting that Catholic team which had some 15+ D-1 players, including Major.

West Monroe has been pretty salty for several years............

West Monroe has been really good for decades, but that Catholic team may have been the most talented in Louisiana history. For me, that upset ranks up there with Reagan beating Jack Mildred and Cooper at Amon Carter - damn it was cold that day.

It's tough to say which is better recruiting ground per capita: North Louisiana or South Louisiana. They're both good.

That makes sense.

I’m mostly hearing our new DC’s name (Pete Kwiatkowski) said like ‘Quit Cow Ski’.
See my avatar (cow skiing).
Some find it easier to just call him Coach K or Coach PK.

I like this pickup - Lewis. Long, fast and has hand skills. This is the mold of the CB LSU seems to find every year and we plucked one out of their backyard. In Coach PK/Joseph I trust. LFG!

Did Blue say he was forgoing Sr year and then the captains voted to not let him back? Otherwise I’m really concerned at the blackballing of a teammate.

Indeed!
The opposing QB’s obviously threw his way too much. He may have earned their respect with those numbers; and I’m guessing his numbers this season will not be as good because not many passes will be coming his way. :hookem:
