2022 Recruiting - Football

Pool party / post-pool party update:

Brown brought his defensive coach with him to the party. It felt like home. Laid back feel to it. Bryce Anderson is a singer as well as a football player... Devon Campbell showed up, decked out in burnt orange and with a big smile, and will be back again for another look. Campbell will be a battle between us and OU, but he's "giving all the signals that Texas is the school." Quency Wiggins, 6'6" 274 lbs **** DL out of Louisiana, was there and apparently likes our D staff a lot. "This exceeded everything" said Quency Wiggins . (it's tough to get the top flight guys from Louisiana, but since paying players $$$ is no longer cheating, LSU may start losing some...) Omari said OU hasn't been in touch much with him. Ohio State and Alabama look like the teams to beat for Omari.

Some guys were impressed with the South End Zone. Terry Black's BBQ catered, so the food was very good, and get this--Matthews' (DB from Louisiana) dad said the banana pudding might be why he comes back...

There was NO SEC sales pitch made.

Terry Black is a good friend of mine. He is also a damned fine TexasEx.

Evan Stewart paid an unannounced visit to UT yesterday on his way back home from his Fla visit.

And he’s an excellent BBQ cook. I couldn’t think of a better way to feed recruits.
I never would have thought to try the banana pudding, but I will next time I’m there. If it’s enough to make Louisiana folks make a return visit to Texas, it must be special!

Is he #1 in the 21' class since he’s now a 2021 kid?

I honestly question if he’s going to have success. At the very least he’s in for big time reality check.
It will be interesting to see how he handles being below the freshman in the pecking order. He will have a huge target on him from day 1.

Now I have to wonder why this kid had issues with Tom Herman. The 40 acres is only big enough for one *******?

That's Showtime!

I say we take him even if we sign enough other LBs. He's versatile enough to end up at MLB, OLB, put on a few lbs to his tall/lean frame and be a Rush End/LB, or stay light and be a SS (he's got the quicks real good ). Should start on kickoff coverage day 1. I trust the staff knows how to scout them (otherwise they wouldn't have found this unrated/unknown LB--until very recently he was listed at 189 lbs). I like Sherman's film better than any of the other LBs that I've seen. He has that unteachable instincts/nose for the ball and closing speed. Playmaker all over the field. Until we came along, I think he was only recruited by Houston Baptist and New Mexico.

Great find staff!!!
