2022 Recruiting - Football

I don't like his quote because he said texas tradition is like that of Ohio State, like we are inferior in some way and are moving up. And as a top recruit he will go to the school with the best tradition which he is intimating is Ohio State.
So i will be holding my breath on this one.
Maybe i am overthinking however.
But maybe he would get earlier playing time at UT.
He nearly committed to ohio state on his visit but didn't. The longer this plays out, the more I like our chances.

Boo boo boo … the money will be there later. Money is not greater than your senior year playing with your buddies one last time …. I hate this trend … so short sighted … sigh

YEP!! NIL is not good for these kids!!

Rea;;y thpnk there neeed / neede to be better boundaries; this may tend to creat problems within the rosters!!!

Then how about an 18 year old HS senior selling his NIL and doing so while being recruited by multiple schools…

Or a 17 year old high schooler’s parents cashing in on his NIL while he’s being recruited.

Pandora has opened her box.

I think the NCAA needs to hire Barry Switzer & Jackie Sherrill to teach school and coaches how to do this without creating problems on the team. They have done it and are the experts.

Collins was an idiot led to the trough by Myer and then allowed to drown by the alums. Yes, the guy was totally guilty, but he was in way over this head.

Switzer is the G.O.A.T at paying players under the table - now it's going to be legal to pay them on top of the table. I assume Switzer is already the Number One advisor to Lincoln Riley.

Barry was the master at paying and there being no jealousy over who got what or how much. Jackie came into A&M and "unionized" them so there was no longer any jealousy. Handling the kids is one thing, but handling the mothers takes extraordinary talent.

Ha!

It’s sort of like in the olden days when the old time mobsters went to Vegas to run the operations of the (legal) casinos. They had the most experience and knew what they were doing from their prior (illegal) gambling activities.

You don't really know that

Why didn't anybody do anything about it?

What do you suggest?

Everyone knew what was happening & who was doing it. SMU buying a new house for our RB? Big name player having a new Corvette & new Jaguar convertible in his garage near campus. Airline tickets bought for cash and later cashed in by players. Credit cards billed to offshore companies. Straight up old cash - the million dollar walk; monthly payments to the mothers.

Everyone knew what was going on except the NCAA, who used private detective agencies to investigate. They were lots of fun to have in your office - ridicule them, belittle them, make fun of them, then tell them, "Come back when you have a subpoena". NCAA has no subpoena power.

Did anyone investigate Eric Dickerson's TransAm? How about the 38 Nissan Z cars from Warren Bankston Nissan being driven by SMU players?

The list goes on and on, but no punishment.

If no one investigated why did SMU get the death penalty?

That one was dumped in their lap, and schools were screaming after the house deal went through.

A&M almost got the death penalty, and many of their BMDs thought they were, even RC was scared (HE TOLD ME SO ONE ON ONE!). The Aggies sacrificed Rod Dockery and Jackie to save the program. That investigation lasted months and was an absolute joke. NCAA visited Rod's office on Director's Row dozens of times. He was accused of paying Murray to clean printing presses, but Murray never showed up for work. In all those visits, not one time did the NCAA open the door and look in the warehouse behind the wall in the hallway they had to walk down. If they had, they would have discovered that Rod had no printing presses, he contracted it all out.

Yet these same buffoons spend two hours in my office wanting to talk about a used car being driven by a RB at Baylor. I refused to give them any information, but the truth was the grandfather had put something like 13 kids through college and bought each one of them a car. So, the NCAA wastes tons of cash investigating a legitimate graduation gift, but not Dickerson or OU or FSU or the convicts or USC or VT or Ohio State or oSu or Nebraska.

How is it that we all knew and they couldn't find out?

You have to wonder how many of these "kids" will go blow their $, never make it to the NFL, or flame out quickly and end up on skid row.

No, this is not a good thing even if it levels Texas with the cheaters.

RP,

Are you coming to Grapevine?

You posted something several months ago that i wanted to ask you about, but only face to face with no recording devices around.

And with the glaringly obvious, blatant $$$$$ recruitment of Hart Lee Dykes, OSU arguably even nudged out their big brother OU for the driver's seat on the cheating bandwagon for a little while. Just (much of the) SWC and Big 8 football in the 80s $$$$$.

Hart Lee had never been to Stillwater. Hell, he couldn't find Stillwater on a map of Payne County

I have wondered how Zero U escaped the death penalty for the BRSI fiasco - IMO, that fit the definition of "lack of institutional control."

When you go by "Showtime", you've gotta have some good film. Here he is...

Kvon Sherman on Hudl

K'von Sherman - Pearland Oiler
- Class of 2022
- unranked recruit (no stars)
- most likely starts out at OLB
- could develop into a hybrid sort
- could instantly be a big playmaker on coverage teams

I'm most impressed with his closing speed, play diagnosis (finding the ball), and getting to the ball. I'd say he's living up to the "Showtime" nickname. I bet the lack of recruitment from the big boys was based on his (former) size; Rivals still has him at 6'1" 189 lbs. But he's apparently up to 6'3" 217 lbs now. (think OL Andrej Karic--who nobody good but us wanted because he was listed at a mere 240 lbs for so long). His football instincts and speed are natural. He's calling himself an OLB, MLB, or [rush] DE. What he is, is a fast, high-football-instincts BAMF.

It appears that, before we came knocking, his main suitors were Houston Baptist and New Mexico. He's a diamond in the rough, no doubt found by our staff with countless hours of film watching. This sort of guy often ends up at TCU or oSu logging 12 tackles, 3 TFL, a sack, a pass break-up, and an INT in their game against us... And we're left scratching our heads wondering why didn't we go after him...?

Now if only there was a way to tell which college he favors...

It's Showtime!!!

(note, some people apparently think he's with the Class of 2023, but the "usual" sites have him as Class of 2022. Moreover, he has himself as Class of 2022 on Twitter, so he's in this recruiting class)

Here's 247 on K'von Sherman:
Kvon Sherman, Pearland, Linebacker
(unranked/no stars with offers from Houston Baptist and New Mexico)

I have that spidey sense that our staff may have found a serious diamond in the rough here...
Let's see if he gets the offer this weekend.

Below is the Chop-Ranking he gets from his film:

Cause they heard 13 different stories from 13 different folks. You knew who was credible and who wasn’t, or which direction the story was being shaded. These guys didn’t have this “institutional” knowledge. You did.

I wish. I'm in Chicago. You can come have a beer with HIC and I in Chicago.:hookem:
