2022 House and Senate election

She's too nutty to last long as a Rep there.

She barely held the seat last time in a GOP- favourable election cycle to a moderate Dem who was pretty likeable. If Dems go with the same guy in '24, she's probably gone. When you only have a 5 seat majority, you can't afford to piss away seats.

Did y'all see the video? She and her boy toy were fondling one another at the musical. He was playing with her tits and she was playing with his crotch.

Obviously I'm all for Boebert being defeated and honestly despised her before any of this, but I can't help but notice the difference in the media's handling of this versus its handling of Susanna Gibson.

Boebert is portrayed as a classless ***** for being handsy in public. It is tacky, but many of us have done more risque things in public with wives or girlfriends when we assumed nobody was looking. Hell, there are dudes getting road head everyday, which is not only gross but dangerous as hell.

Gibson made a video of herself having explicit sex and posted it online for every pervert on the internet to see. Most of us haven't done anything like that. Though I think both are raunchy, Gibson was significantly sleazier. However, she's being framed as some kind of victim. It just shows that politics drives media condemnation far, far more than actual deeds do.

If she was in a R+30 district, I wouldn't care as much, but she's in a district that's R+7. It's an easy win for a normal Republican but a struggle for a weird Republican like her. I'm also not a fan of this type of congressman - in office to self-promote and makes no serious effort to legislate.

Two points. 1. I will concede her hotness in a trashy "2 wine coolers away from taking her top off at a NASCAR race" kind of way. 2. Though I'd defer to Garmel on this, it looks like she's had a boob job.

She's just looking for her post-Representative talking head job. Unfortunately in today's world notoriety is often enough to land a media post.

So despite her professed conservatism, Lauren Boobert doesn't look for similar qualities in a man. It's not too shocking to me that she's screwing around with a Dem, but it is surprising that it isn't some lobbyist or high profile media figure. She's hooking up with a local bar owner in Colorado. Other than the gay drag shows (which I presume wouldn't sell very well in Temple), this could have been Garmel.

So Swallwell can keep his seat but "Boobert" has to go, leaving the Ds a better shot to flip the seat since whoever primary's her is an unknown and has to play Gerald Ford of the rockies.

Got it

No wonder we can't maintain majority for long

This makes very little sense. She barely held the seat in '22 without this incident. Do you really think this incident wouldn't harm her reelection chances? Let's be realistic. If we "stand by" Boobert, that seat is gone.

You bring up Swallwell. He's in a D+22 district. He can screw a Chinese spy, and that district isn't flipping to the GOP. Hell, he could be a serial child rapist, and that district wouldn't flip. If his district was as close as Boebert's and he had won by less than 600 votes in a Democratic year, then yes, they would push him aside - not because they have moral standards but because they don't like throwing away congressional seats.

Like I said, many of us have done worse than the initial behaviour, but she did a lot more than get handsy with this dude in the theater. She played the "do you know who I am" card when she got caught. Do you remember looking down on David Dewhurst for his call to the Allen Police? That went over like a fart in a car and certainly hurt his standing with voters. What she did is much more direct and much worse. The bottom line is that she's done in Congress. The only issue is whether you want her to get replaced by a Democrat or a Republican.

I don't see anything wrong with her behavior with the guy. They're on a date at a concert. Don't act like that behavior is unacceptable when it's the norm nowadays

The Do you know who I am comment is upsetting. Not good, but... So tell me, did her son or brother get tens of millions out that comment? You want bad behavior worthy of losing your DC job, she falls wayyy short of Biden or swallwell.

And if this IS as big a deal as you think it is, no R will win that seat.

A Chinese spy, hear that? A Chinese spy, not a Chinese hooker or whatever. Then they act like they have to get evidence on the Biden - Ukraine money bribery, Bs***, they have all they need problem is they’re all involved. Nothing will ever come of it. It will be a footnote in history.

Note dems did the same thing regarding the war on terror when Obama succeeded Bush…

You're harping on why what she did isn't bad, and honestly I'm not judging her from a moral standpoint. I will readily admit that I've done worse. However, doing that in a crowded theater is terrible judgment, and scolding those who confronted her is much worse. You may not care about either one very much, but might half of 1 percent of voters in her district care enough to abandon her? Yes, and that's more than enough to sink her.

Really? It's a R+7 district. A Democrat can win it when conditions are perfect for them, but the GOP has a major advantage. Until Boobert got the nomination in '20, the GOP had easily won (by 8 - 14 points) in the last several election cycles. Basically any Republican not named Boebert easily wins.

I was kidding about any D winning that seat. Her district is 2/3 rural (but you already knew that)

Relax. No one will remember her handling up on her boyfriend in 14 months

A Democrat can win her seat. She was about 600 votes away from losing to one in 2022 - in a GOP friendly midterm election.

You're right. Nobody will remember it - until her opponent brings it up and asks the voters if they want someone who uses her congressional position to try to justify acting lewd on front of children. Even if only a tiny percentage cares, she's gone. She could be gone anyway because she was a garbage congressman even without this.

This video is 7 minutes long. No children to be found anywhere near her seat.

Look, i know you don't like her. I get it. She's not the typical republican you wish for (Romney, McCain seem to be more your liking opposed to "boobert") but please don't pour the sauce on. The incident was not good but don't make it out to be more than what it was.

Of course I don't like her. She's a self-promoting hack who doesn't know what her job is. That's why she can barely hold her seat in a GOP-friendly district in the first place. My point is that the incident doesn't have to be much. If it moves the needle to even a tiny degree, she's gone.

Also, just FYI - until Trump in '16, the only GOP nominee I didn't vote for was McCain in '08. I did vote for Romney in the general in '12 but not in the primary. The point is that you shouldn't assume you can pigeonhole my politics. I have issues with both camps and don't fit well into either one.

You might have seen Trump pull ahead of Biden in the national polls. What you might have missed is that Trump is +6 in swing states.

Call me old school, but not only is Fetterman totally unqualified/unfit to do the job, his "attire" is disgusting. I can't believe they are letting him wear what a 17 skateboarder wears, or a homeless man, onto the Senate floor. He isn't there to play basketball. He in a United States Senator.
If he physically couldn't dress himself, or needed to dress a certain way for religious reasons, I could understand.
But this is a big middle finger to everyone who has to wear appropriate attire for their job. I doubt many guys like wearing a coat and tie to their job, but they do.
Man up and show some respect for the position, and the people you represent--us.
Just another step down on our way toward the decline of the USA.

I'm probably much more bothered by this than most, but wearing a dress or skirt and having to cross your legs all day isn't comfortable at all.
I think it's time for the women to head to Lulu Lemon, or some other store, and show up in athleisure wear for a day.
He's disgraceful to me. And we lower our standards for him.
If Frankenstein's monster can wear a suit, so can Fetterman.

Looks like we're about to throw away control of the NH House of Representatives. All we had to do was not to be crazy.

Before you blame Trump you need to read some of Jim Guzofski's statements. The guy is far right and seems disturbed. He would have lost whether he was a Trumper or establishment type.

Of course, but who's voting to nominate these weirdos? We can't keep wingnuts from running, but we don't have to nominate them.

To be clear the particular district at issue is a Republican district, but NH is not really a swing state anymore. It's light blue in the sense that the national GOP doesn't usually get its *** totally kicked there like it does in Massachusetts or Vermont, but it is blue. We haven't flipped it since 2000 and didn't get a majority then. However, like Massachusetts and Vermont (but to an even greater extent), large numbers of voters who would never vote GOP in a national election will vote GOP for state offices.
