2022 Fall season

On the broadcast last night they talked about the fact that Coach Elliott had recently been in Dallas meeting with American Airlines Center officials in anticipation of scheduling a match there. Jerritt wants to surpass the current NCAA attendance record. Fantastic idea!

I hope it happens (being a resident of Dallas I’m extra excited about it) and let the speculation begin on who the opponent will be lol. I doubt it would be a conference game but a matchup with Baylor certainly wouldn’t be a hard sell. Nebraska? Stanford? Another Big10 school?

Too bad it’s not this years team which is damn close to a “Dream Team” or about as close as you can get in college imo

It’s going to be a final 4 type atmosphere so it will be 4 teams competing most likely on opening weekend. During the Stanford match a couple days ago the broadcaster said Stanford, Nebraska, and Minnesota or Wisconsin have said they would be committed to participating. Jerritt also said he would know in the next week whether or not they got the green light as far as the venue goes. Stanford and Nebraska were for sure but I don’t remember if he said Minnesota or Wisconsin as the final team. I believe it was Minnesota.

I am very surprised Baylor has the record they do; they had a pretty easy schedule, but still. They beat KU in 5 but KU had an off night and is the better team in my opinion.

All of Baylor success comes from their setter and we exposed them at every offensive position tonight. I am still expecting them to take a few more B12 losses from teams other than us before it is all said and done.

I was very glad I knew the outcome prior to watching the Baylor match. Texas was up 21-14 in Set 2 and Baylor had an 11-1 run to win the Set to tie up the match 1-1. Then Texas took control again and never looked back.

Texas has a minimum two game lead on every team in the conference at this point.

And only unbeaten left in D1!

Tough night in Ames, ISU giving the Horns all they can handle. Headed to set 5.

Tex 25 25 25 25

ISU 18 27 12 27

I was only checking the score occasionally on gametracker, so didn't see the match. My goodness, what happened? It seemed they had pretty comfortable leads in both the 2nd and 4th sets.

We had a couple of calls go against us which lead to long scoring runs by iowa that contributed to 2 lost sets.
I'm disappointed and relieved.

Volleyball is a game of momentum and all four challenges in the match went against Texas. Texas was leading set 2 by 24-20 and Jerritt lost both of his challenges (phantom touches) within a matter of minutes (the announcers both thought he would win them) and the match took a turn and they lost the set. Really bad officiating.

Hopefully any pressure of an undefeated season is now gone, but I’m pretty bitter about how last night unfolded. Texas will grow from it I’m sure.

I’ll give ISU credit for taking care of business in Set 5 and maintaining the momentum and keeping their fans in it. It seemed like every Texas block went out of bounds.

Thanks for the explanation. One of the things I like about volleyball is that the officials are not usually a significant part of the outcome of the game.

Good! Prayers have been answered. This takes the pressure off of being no 1 and no losses. This can be a positive wake up call and I think the ladies will respond. I usually don't say much on losses but I think this will have a positive effect. Now we can concentrate on winning that elusive NC again.

Agreed and I remember the last time Texas lost to Rice they came out and took their game to the next level. This loss definitely needed to happen and humble them a bit. Now they know they can’t mediocre and still win they need to play to their level every match and not down to competition.

Texas absolutely put a beatdown on Tech last night who was without their starting setter. Newly #1 Nebraska was swept by #5 Wisconsin. If Texas takes care of business tomorrow night in Manhattan, then we are set to return to #1 after only a weeks absence.

The Tech wipeout lasted only one hour and could have been worse with first team playing the whole match. I have watched volleyball for many years and do not think I havd ever seen a team as good in all phases of the game. Blocking is just phenomenal. Tech players had everything jamed back in their face. Tech blocking was so poor the other players were playing dodgeball all game.

I think we'll see that as we get later in the year, you won't see the lineup change unless it has to. The team that goes to the final needs consistent work.

Wife & I were talking about exactly this last nite. Not sure I have ever seen a team this deep.

Agreed we are at the point in the season where we need our number 1 lineup to be consistent. Whether it’s a beat down or not. Eggleston has came out early the past couple games so she is well rested. It’s time to get into tournament mode.
