Texas takes Set 3 as Logan ends it with a monster hit out of the back row (which she has had several of this weekend) 25-20

Zoe Fleck (libero) is a winner! She’s going to be fun to watch this season
No doubt about it. Another super transfer L just like Morgan and couple of years ago. As well as Halter. Jerritt finally realizing we gotta play great defense.

No offense to Sydney, but these 2 new players make her look like chopped liver.

agreed on Defense. Definitely several steps up from last year and a lot of the credit goes to Zoe and Emma. late in the 3rd set they made a 'turn the set' play. Their hustle seems to raise the lever of everyone.
Molly looks stronger and faster and is poised for a great year. Madisen really shined the first night and had a very good night last night. This will be a fun year

A few impressions. Halter is the real deal. Fleck too. Their serving is a refreshing addition. Our libero and back row defense is something not seen in 15 years or so. Our receive and passing is a huge improvement. I was pleasantly surprised by Bergmark, Caffey not so much. Akana has some serving and other skills that will come in handy. Surprised that Parra didn’t play as she had a significant role last year. The first set Saturday was disjointed as Elliot tried to work in Caffey and maybe others. The margin for error was small and it showed. The Minnesota match will kinda be a tight rotation. After that, may see more liberal substitutions as Elliot tries to find out who can play and not. I’m not going to analyze the core players as they were typically their outstanding selves. VERY encouraging. I am so looking forward to Minnesota and seeing what home cooking will look like. It sure would look good on the resume to see Horns take down the #7 and #3 teams. Then see how those teams match up in a tough B10. Fun stuff.

Overall nobody can complain about 2 wins over a top 10 team but 2 things. I still like Caffey over bergmark but I felt caffey wasn’t getting set and she is more of a MH instead of bergmark being a MB. Also, Caffey the vibe coming off of her was she trying to find her place. Once she does hopefully we’ll see the husker Caffey that was unstoppable at times. If I was picking 2 weaknesses I picked up on. 1 when SKT is back row a team with deadly opposite can score she didn’t get to the sharp cross angle or tips from the opposite. 2 we have to maintain the fire we would let osu go up to catch em. A top tier team is going to feast on that and not let up. Several times throughout the match I felt we was too calm scary calm. We have a stud in Logan.

One thing that stood out to me was the front row wasn't always set. There were times Molly was on the pin and in the middle vs opposite. And she wasn't the only hitter that moved around some.

Zoe Fleck named B12 defensive player of the week after week 1.
Per TexasSports ‘The 26 digs in a single match are the most by a Longhorn player since Cat McCoy ad 29 digs in a five-set match at Iowa State in 2016. It was also the most digs by a Longhorn in a four-set match since 2010’
