2022 Coaching Carousel

I follow her and she doesn't post much but she has 'Liked' several Moody Center and player posts just in the past couple of days.
I do follow Dom! I never got the impression she was leaving as she is relatively close to home already. My thought is they are going to announce the other 2 assistants at the same time. Unless, the law has changed, Blair cannot directly report to her Dad so that could be part of the delay!

I'm not sure but I think maybe they allow Blair to become an assistant by having her position report directly to the next level of supervisory authority? That would most likely entail HR involvement in restructuring the position so to speak. That's my guess as to what is going on. Who will be the post coach?

Just curious, who is everyone’s top 3 coaches that they would want added to the staff that you believe is a realistic possibility? Can be a post coach or a guards coach.

I really want Nneka. She has an excellent understanding of the post game... footwork, positioning, rebounding, shot-blocking, etc. She came from really good coaching at the high school level that taught her those things early in her playing career.

I am going to trust in Vic to make a great hire!

On Sydney Carter's Instagram story, she has a photo of someone named Sadie Ann Edwards. Sadie appears to be the current manager of basketball operations + video coordinator for the NY Liberty (according to her IG title); this past season, she was an assistant coach at Lamar for former Aggie, Aqua Franlkin; former player at UConn and Southern Cal. And, low and behold, Sadie is recently following TexasWBB on Instagram.

Just saw the tweet below from a girls' HS coach. Double agents? Maybe Vic has a couple of soon-to-be hires recruiting for Texas on other schools' dimes? If the rule is still in effect that allows support staff (Blair & Dom) to go on the road recruiting if you don't have a full coaching staff in place, that would be the biggest upside for the Longhorns - more bodies on the road. If not, I'd say it's doubtful because it seems a bit shady and looks cheap for a program like Texas.

Looks like Vic is using that staff exception - Blair was on the road this weekend,

I’m standing by my prediction of Dom to assistant. Based on her Instagram, she was at her dad’s wedding this past weekend. If she’s officially promoted to an assistant, that’s 1 less support staff member who can be on the road when she has family obligations.

Sydney on the road as well. Considering she was in DeSoto last week, I assume she attended the tournaments in Dallas and Mansfield. It’s in her Instagram story - nice to see they got her some Longhorn gear.

That the associate head coach had been barred from all team activities and that assistant coach Abi Olajuwon hasn’t been with the team since the end of the season.
That program is in a really bad place, will be very surprised if this season coming up isn’t Peebley’s last.

I was really surprised Peebley survived for another year. Perhaps a lot of behind the scenes problems not entirely of her making so she gets another chance?

Hmmmm. This account has been wrong before when referring to their ‘sources’. Would be a departure for Vic.

Abbie Boutilier did start following Laflin on Instagram.

I remember Laflin coaching a club team a few years ago. Believe Tatum Veitenheimer, Vivian Gray, and Sedona Prince were on that club team.

Recently? He's going to have several followers already because:
  • He runs a well known scouting service (PBR which supports ESPN)
  • He's a McDonald's AA voter
  • On the Naismith Trophy Board of Selectors
