2022-2023 Season

I watched the game vs Argentina earlier today and the Final against Puerto Rico tonight. Aaliyah looked very good against ARG while Celeste struggled a bit with her shot and turnovers. CT caught fire in the Final and Aaliyah couldn’t get much to fall but made some very nice passes into the paint and to cutters diving to the basket. The commentator said Aaliyah has been the most dominant player in the tournament start to finish and that’s on a team with an aggy grad (Kayla Wells), a Duke Senior (CT) and some opposing players that play D1 ball.
One of Aaliyah’s passes to a cutting Celeste:

Perhaps there isn't going to be an SEC/Big 12 Challenge this season. Miss. State already booked the first weekend in December:

LOL for Zona. I guess they figure iron sharpens iron. One things for sure, Vic ain't dodging anyone/anywhere.
I incorrectly thought Tennessee (home) and Arizona (away) would be 2 of our 3 (UConn) toughest matchups of the season, and best chances at helping our SOS. While I get that there's a chance we could end up playing Tennessee in the Bahamas, I was hoping that would be "in addition" to playing them at home in our new arena.

The only hope I have left for a marquee team coming to Moody this season is Stanford, and it sure doesn't seem like Tara likes playing against Vic's style of defense; so, that series might be over.

Maybe Dawn will surprise us and bring South Carolina to Austin; I'm not counting on it, though, as USC already has UConn, Stanford, Maryland and Oregon on their non-conference schedule.

We'll need a few gimmes to help build some game chemistry with the new blended roster, and find our identity as a team. But I'm sure hoping for an improvement over last year's home game OOC schedule. Hopefully Vic and Co. have found a way to beef it up some.

I’m actually getting a bit worried about the non-conference home schedule as more and more good programs make their schedules available and visits to Austin are not on them. I’ve got 2 season tickets and I won’t be making the drive from Fort Worth to see games against multi-directional state schools.

Don't blame you... Neither would I.

Vic should have already figured out by now, especially from last year that he's not in Starkville, Mississippi any more. Where there isn't a lot of things to do other than to go to a wbb game.

He's at a place where there's a lot more options, and where people can watch the games on LHN without having to deal with the horrible traffic.

Coming off the year that they just had, on top of playing in a brand new venue, the home out of conference schedule should be much better than it's shaping up to be.

LSU is another SEC team with a weak schedule, and no mention of participation in any SEC/Big 12 challenge; so, don't think there will be one.

LOL!!! They actually made a cheesy promotional video for this dog sh%#@t of a non-conference schedule? Ohhh boy, you can just feel the excitement folks, can't you? Why not just say "look everyone, our conference schedule is really rough, so we're just playing high school teams until January. It is what it is."

Holy crap, the non-conference schedule sucks even assuming that Husky logo is Connecticut and not HBU. All the other non-conference logos are unrecognizable, D-2, D-3 schools.

Even as a Kim Mulkey fan (don't kill me), if she knew she was losing a lot of seniors, it's still down right embarrassing. Well, it ain't gonna prepare them for the conference schedule or help them with NCAA seeding.

I don't have a problem with Mulkey either, she's a great coach. But she never scheduled the way I felt she should have at Baylor either, considering how stacked with talent her teams were. This LSU schedule is about the most pathetic I ever remember seeing from a P5 conference program with a history like theirs. I really can't understand what she's running from unless she's trying to climb up the all-time victories list as fast as possible.

*That Husky icon is HBU.

Kinda starting to look that way I'm afraid. We have a chance to play 3 top 10 teams (UCONN, Louisville and TENN) in our non-conference slate, but none of those are home games. So that's great for our seeding later, but not the way we wanted to start things at Moody. I'm hoping Vic can at least get some P5 opponents to come in, but he has said before that its very difficult to get teams to come play his teams at home.

Considering our game in Vegas vs Arizona was canceled last season, you would think they would have been our opponent in Dallas instead of them facing Baylor.

Yeah, our home non-conference schedule is probably going to be similar to last season's. Hopefully, Princeton comes to Austin this season. I have to believe South Florida still owes us a game from when Aston's team played in Tampa a few years ago. That's the best I can hope for, I guess.

Been reading that at most events at Moody, a self-service beer is $17 and the kiosk checkout defaults to include a 20% tip (unless you are smart enough to input $0)!

Hoping San Diego gets a visit from UT as a reward for being available last minute to play the Horns in Las Vegas last season. Coach Fisher received kudos (even remember seeing ESPN covering this news) for having her team going to Vegas the next day after playing Arizona State at home.

My anxiety is rising. Every time I read on here other team’s releasing their schedules and nothing from Texas. And old rivalries not being maintained. Is it possible that our non-conference schedule is another stinker? Or even worse than last year? I still think SOMEONE of significance will want to come to Moody. I think I’ll try and get my blood pressure down….big bowl of Blue Bell should do it.

Last year, our schedule was not released until September 10, 2021.

Heck, we don't even have our 2 assistant coach hires announced yet! :p

Since we likely won't get a schedule for 3 weeks, we'll have to continue to piece one together using everyone's detective work. I think this is what we have so far???:
Nov 14 @ UCONN
Nov 19, 20 & 21: Battle 4 Atlantis (3 games guaranteed)
Dec 18 USC @ Dallas
Dec 28 A&M Commerce

Am I missing any?
