2022-2023 Season

Most first year HC’s don’t play a particularly tough OOC schedule, especially if they’re in a tough conference. So much to install and learn, it’d be hard to do those things facing really good teams out of the gate.

Shaylee's Dad likes this article:

Is it too much to ask, if you're going to cover women's basketball, do your homework. Just click on the Texas women's basketball roster too confirm if Matharu is on the team. C'mon man.

I also think adding Taylor Jones is just as or even more consequential for the team's success as adding Shaylee.

Also the writer fails to mention Tennessee's addition of Rickea Jackson. This article is trash.

Shaylee’s VLOG is very impressive. Especially the Horns visit. You can see why she is a social media star. It’s a wonderful pairing…..Texas WBB with Shaylee. I cant wait to see what she and Horns media comes up with. Oh yea….basketball games too.

I am definitely not as sharp as I used to be as it just occurred to me that us playing USC at the American Airline Center in Dallas was probably Vic's idea knowing that the women's Final Four will be played there in April. If not his idea, it still works out great for the team (as motivation and possibly comfort level if we get there at the end of the post-season).

Thanks for posting. This just emphasizes how much the resources as Texas matter. I was also blown away by OSU’s facilities, when you juxtapose that with what we were dealing with in the Erwin Center, it was painfully obvious how far behind the 8-ball we were. Also really impressed with our staffs attention to detail especially compared to NCSU.

Also was really struck by the fact that Vic lead her entire tour and didn’t delegate to assistants the way the other two schools did. Pretty neat

Maybe because he didn't have any assistants hired that he could delegate to...

I’m just wondering on a Thursday night and bored. It appears to me Harmon is muscling up some. Not in a bad way. Just she’s maturing and strength training etc. One of her best features is her quickness and relentless defensive pressure. Players games change. I’m expecting a much improved Harmon in her sophomore year. However, will her game evolve in the next 3 years to where she will be a different point guard?

Finally, somebody wants to have a worthwhile discussion first good question in weeks. I think some of us is going to view it as bad ( well I won’t) but great PGs always can score at will but manage teams. All championship team have had a PG like this in my memory. Ex: Henny for SC, UConn great teams, Ty Harris SC, even our now coach when A&M won. All these team had PG that coulda put up 17-28ppg but avg lowered to make the team excel. This year Harmon has to manage and lead this team and along with have 2 chicks that were very much the it chicks elsewhere. My starting lineup is fluid right now but I have
Harmon-13.6ppg 6.4ast.4.2reb 2.2 Steaks
Gonzales- 10.7ppg 2.3ast 5reb
Morris-17ppg 5rebs 2 steals
Moore-12-15ppg 8.7rebs
Jones-6.9ppg 6.8rebs

Holle-6.9ppg 2.1ast 6.2rebs
Hunter 8.3ppg 2 Reb and ast
Fresh-3.8ppg 3reb
Gaston-6ppg 5reb
Faye-rebound machine
Femme-idk
Muhammad- in blow outs will see flashes but I don’t think when conference gets here she get more than a min or 3

I like your thinking. A few adjustments. I think Harmon’s scoring is a little high. Especially if she’s managing all the scorers she will have. I would reverse Gonzalez and Morris numbers. Gonzalez is an alpha. think Holle will start because of her defense and size with Morris giving scoring off the bench. I think Moore and Jones are both about 10 ppg. I struggle with putting Gaston on the bench (not starting) but I also can’t think Jones & Moore are not starting. Those 3 may rotate game to game. The others are simply gonna have to fight for minutes. Injuries will provide adjustments. In the women’s game, there are always 1-3 early in year that are hurt. Did I say how I’m going crazy with no sports right now? Volleyball better hurry. Then football. Basketball seems eons away.

Hopefully she's improved in all areas. But two things in particular that I would like to see her really improve on is getting her 3pt. percentage to at least 35% and improving her left hand dribbling.

The left hand improvement would be monumental. Notice how often Schaefer started the offense from the high left sideline. That allowed Harmon to use her predominant right hand to dribble across the court and use screens to break down the defense. Starting from the other side of the court at times and using her off hand(left) would give her and team so many more options. I think her 3 point shooting will improve with Gonzalez doing some of the driving and allowing Harmon to catch and shoot more frequently.

You make some good points and that's my starting lineup also, but I'd be very surprised if Taylor Jones' productivity is that low. I'm thinking we have all five starters averaging double figures if all stay healthy throughout the season.

I don’t think for a minute that Sonya Morris won’t be in the starting lineup. Holle will get plenty of time off the bench. As for Harmon, of course she will evolve. I think she will score more. Truth is, none of us, including Vic, knows how the collective evolution of this team will go. I do thing Moore will be dominant and evolve into something very special. So many weapons. I look for Hunter to have a breakout year and provide a big offensive punch off the bench. So much depth….
