2022-2023 NCAA Tournament The Big Dance

This is why I wanted S.C. to beat Iowa. LSU matches up terribly with S Carolina.
Exactly! South Carolina was the only team left who would be able to stop them. LSU has got many breaks in this tournament but I have to give it to Mulkey she is a damn good coach but I still dislike her with a passion.

Jasmine Carson off the bench with 21 points shooting 100% and 5-5 beyond the arc. Playing out of her mind it’s definitely her day!

People that bash women’s basketball say it’s boring, but I don’t know how you could watch this game and say that.

it’s halftime and I live in Dallas and the emergency alert sirens are sounding in my neighborhood which is about 3 miles north of the American Airlines Center

Damned S. Carolina! Dawn and Co. allowed this to happen. I'm gonna have to go off social media for a few weeks after this one (this site excluded) out of fear of seeing come kind of coronation activity that causes me to get very ill.

I’m really torn. I graduated from LSU and I wouldn’t mind if they win but I really, really dislike Mulkey. I’m sure she will take great glee in rubbing all her haters noses in it.

It’s going to be hard for me to get through this game

No sirens in Fort Worth, but tornado warnings. Hope everyone is safe in Dallas.
Unless Iowa wakes up, it’s going to be dreadful listening to the gushing over KM … Sigh, can’t argue with her coaching skills and whatever magic words she said to Carson.

Well they just said the reason our sirens went off is because of golf ball sized hail coming down in the area (actually in Tarrant Co) so we’re good here so far but it’s getting dark. May be the one thing to slow LSU down lol

stay safe over there!

Yea SEVERAL traveling calls on both ends have left me scratching my head. Aren’t we supposed to have the “cream of the crop” in the FF?

I just knew Iowa wouldn't be able to maintain their level of play from Friday night.

As for LSU, they were #5 in both bracket reveals. They then lost to Tennessee in the SEC semi-finals. A week later on Selection Sunday they are announced as a #3 seed (#10 overall); found that to be such a huge drop. After thinking about it, this is what happened:

#1 seed South Carolina (no SEC team could be the #8/9 overall seed in that part of the bracket). The committee had proven knocked down LSU from #5 to #8 (as the committee was impressed with Iowa's B1G tourney run, and swayed by UConn's Big East tourney win but moreso the return of Azzi Fudd). So, that meant Iowa as #5 overall, and UConn #6 overall. Committe had Utah as a #1 seed before they lost early in the PAC tourney to Wazzu; so, moved them down to #7 overall.

I hate the hoops bracket rule of purposely avoiding teams from the same conference being placed in Top 4 seeds of each region; no other college sport tourney does that. It's the same rule that bumped us into UConn's region under Aston due to four PAC 12 schools among the Top 16 overall seeds.

So, once again the "integrity" of the bracket is compromised; all things being equal, LSU should have been the #2 seed in South Carolina's regional.

UGH! She always finds a way to land on her feet.

Reese gets multiple putbacks …hope Hadi is watching her technique.

Add: Hadi already has more class than Reese.

Really hate the foul issues for both teams and uneven play by Iowa/Clark. Not good for women’s bball, especially after after all the promotions and excitement about the Final 4, followed by Friday’s games. Aargh.

:hookem:

I started out thinking how great this game was for women’s basketball and now I think it’s damaging because there are a lot of casual fans watching. It’s been ruined by the officiating under a huge glaring spotlight.

My 90 year old father texted me about this game yesterday morning. He has NEVER brought up WBB in my entire life.

These refs are just horrid! Not just the fouls, but the traveling calls as well.

The officiating has sucked beyond belief overall, but all the travel calls I've seen have in fact been travels and I wish they'd call those in the men's college game and the pro games as well.

Mulkey was able to build a team from the portal and won a championship in year two. Vic better get it together and start doing the same! It’s time for championships to come through Austin.

I don't like Mulkey, but give credit where it's due. She's a great coach with the ability to recruit, both from high school and the portal. With that being said, recruiting just got tougher in the state of Texas.

He needs another athletic guard right now from the portal. Outside of Rori, they're not athletic enough on the perimeter to play the style that Vic wants to play. The front court has the potential to be really good.

It just now became harder for us to do so as LSU is nearby, and we will be in the same conference with them after one more season. It's not Mulkey is gonna stop recruiting the state of Texas. We'll probably find out not to long from now how this affects 2024 Justice Carlton's college decision; if Mulkey gets a foot into CyFair Elite club, it will be even more difficult.

Say what you will, she reached the top (again) in 2 seasons at LSU; Vic has been in Austin three seasons, and we took a step back this season after 2 tremendous seasons. Momentum is big in recruiting as most players are all about the hot/trendy college program.

Guess things could be worse; she could have stayed at Baylor.

Recruiting just got way more difficult for us.

Mulkey had a great deal of luck (especially in the injury category) fall in place this year. I’ve always agreed she’s a great coach. Not sure I’ll ever like her as a person.

LSU played uncharacteristically out of their minds on the offensive end and the refs took Iowa out of their game early on and they never recovered although made a valiant effort in Qtr 3.

I don’t know how that officiating crew could be proud of the way they called this game. Exceptionally bad today.
