2022-2023 NCAA Tournament The Big Dance

We’re still the reigning Big 12 Champions.

Vic more than handled his own in the SEC in the recent past and has more resources and “brand” in Texas than he did at MS St to work with. We will be competitive with Staley, Mulkey and Tennessee et al.

In the meantime the Big 12 is ours for the taking provided we avoid another disastrous year injury wise and even at that we won the regular season championship this year.
I certainly am not doubting... just saying it's a big challenge, but I also feel we have the right person to take it on.

Definitely a big challenge without a doubt. With NIL, portals and parity it seems like a whole new frontier. Adapt or get left in the dust. I still feel like we’re on our way back to sustained national prominence with Vic at the helm.

I think the incoming 2023 class brings the combination of skills and athleticism we need on the perimeter to compete with the best. Add the right player or two from the portal and we'll be looking good. We don't need much, but the needs we do have are specific.

Winning the Big 12 title after our long drought is certainly an accomplishment in Vic's third season, especially when you consider all our injuries. But, we can all agree this was the weakest the Big 12 conference has been in a very long time; the NCAA seedings and post-season results validated that.

While Vic didn't win the regular season title his first two seasons, he got us two consecutive Elite 8's. I know we all want conference championships and deep post-season runs; hopefully, next season we get both.

Watching these elite 8 games makes me realize how very difficult it is to advance just to a final four. Extraordinary offense with one or two outstanding shooters, even better defense and a little luck seems to be the recipe for success.

Just a bad yesterday. Men can't close the deal with a chance to make the Final Four in Houston, and then not only does LSU win, they get to play the Final Four in nearby Dallas where they will have a ton of fans supporting them.

Dang, I was so optimistic going into the season they we had a legitimate chance at playing for it all in Dallas; and, now we have to watch Mulkey back in our state. I hate it that she got LSU to the Final Four in her second season. Make no mistake, she will be reaching out to the recruits in the state of Texas to let them know she will be in Dallas for several days and would love for them to be watching (in person or on TV).

Some recruits are all about what-have-you-done for me lately. We did not leave a good impression to end our KC trip and sub-regional. Unfortunately, we don't get to make another on-the-court impression on the 2024 recruits who plan to sign their LOI's in November.

Those of us who follow our program know about our key injuries and how they impacted our season. Some of our recruiting targets know that, some might not. Regardless, with the recruiting wars being so fierce, this was an unfortunate season to take a step backwards.

Look no further than this IG post from Desoto Girls Basketball about the return of Samyah Smith to the DFW area to play in the FF for LSU.

LSU’s presence in Dallas will likely increase Mulkey’s connections with Desoto’s fab four freshmen and the coaching staff.

“You’re down by 15 points. Shut up.”

Video of Caitlin Clark to HVL late in 4th Qtr where I’m assuming HVL was still running her mouth on the court as per her usual MO.

Not as much coverage without the chance to perpetuate the “angry black woman” narrative the media craves to portray

HVL is pure trash. Probably got it from her parents. You know there had to be some pretty ridiculous things said by her for Sonya to go off like she did. I love how after the last game, HVL said that God thinks she's a first team all-american. I'm pretty sure God said "yeah, whatever" just like she did when she was told she was honorable mention. This spoiled brat is very likely on karma watch for next season. Jeff Walz always wants to act like he's so great for the game. Maybe he needs to do the game a favor and have a talk with his star player on the virtues of humility.

Like narcissist conceited smug coach like player.

Speaking of toxic narcissists... all those millions of dollars can't buy even a lick of class. KM is still acting like petty trash, putting up billboards in Dallas and Waco.

ESPN is reporting that tickets for the Women’s Final Four are going for substantially higher on the secondary markets than the Men’s. When has that ever happened?

It may be an anomaly because the Men’s field is so crappy this year but I think there’s definitely some growth in the Women’s game.

Unfortunately Mulkey pulled a shrewd move and had the LSU team practice at the DeSoto High School gym before their FF match-up. :(

I’m not fretting too much because there’s a long ways to go in the recruiting process for the Desoto Fab Four freshmen.

I just made it to the AAC. It's buzzing with people. We're headed to Chipotle to get some grub b4 we go into the arena.

We don't have a dog in this fight. We're pulling for the Gamecocks. Hoping for two great games.

Is there a more boneheaded play in basketball than a 10 second violation when there’s no press? Maddening

Edit: The VT coach just said it was his fault he was talking to her about what play to run

VT coach doing a lot of boneheaded things tonight. His lack of intensity carries over to the team. They could have put this thing away. Instead, they are giving away this game to clown-show mUlkey.

VT quit rebounding in the 2nd half and haven’t been hitting shots all night long. Why after getting a quick early foul on Reese they didn’t even try to exploit that is beyond me. Exhibit A that a 6 man rotation in the Final Four won’t cut it. Also agree with the low energy vibe of the VT Coach being a detriment in this game.

So, sigh, we have to endure yet another game with the Mulkey sideshow.

I’m really going to be rooting for the Gamecocks now. I don’t trust Iowa to prevent the unthinkable from happening on Sunday.

VT certainly did not impress tonight.

I bet Vic would be fit to be tied watching that game. The VT coach acts like Mr. Rogers over there on the sidelines. No intensity and, not surprisingly, his players didn't have the toughness to weather the storm. They had no killer mentality and let LSU take the game away from them in the 4th. And all the smiling and laughing faces of most of the VT players in the handshake line after the game tells you all you need to know. They were too sweet to win this game. mUlkey's luck is so annoying. She's only here this soon b/c she talked Reese into coming and got the best player in the portal + didn't have injury issues. I don't like SC at all, but I guess I'm going to have to root for them b/c I don't think Iowa can slay the queen of the clown-shows.

Noticed that the LSU tiger mascot was wearing a pink boa like KM’s outfit … as was her granddaughter. Gotta admit it’s all amusing.

Also seemed that there were not a kazillion fouls called on every rebound cluster .Refreshing to see the refs let them play, Angel is a rebounding machine, but B12 refs would put her on the bench, I suspect.

And that folks, is why they play the games.
LSU vs Iowa shouid be a fun matchup. Lord know Iowa plays MUCH tougher than Va Tech.

Go Iowa Caitlin Clarks!
