2021 Transfer Season

Well I think we have size. If we get Jackson we have......

Jackson, Coleman, Gaston, Moore, Ebo and Sikuzanu. Vic may want to add another big or stretch forward to have a true big lineup

I am holding out my highest hope for Jessika Carter; she would be the ideal replacement for Charli Collier.

Of course, I won't turn away Jackson. She would provide a lot of options and flexibility; would probably allow us to play "positionless" basketball if you roll her onto the floor with versatile players like Celeste, Audrey, Joanne, Rori, Kyndall, Kobi, etc.

Lol I want both. Me being selfish I would like Carter and Jackson and an experienced PG.

Wondering if our expectations of Kobe are a bit high. If she is coming off the bench for her JC averaging under double figures, is it reasonable to expect her to make an immediate impact?

I think she is more of a project. It will take her some time to get things down defensively. She will be helpful in the big 12 because she can shoot and once she is hot she is hot

Jacob....that list of good bigs is really inexperienced. Jackson is the only one I consider experienced and she has only 2 years. Ebo is nice player but is spot player to me. They all have excellent upside in addition to size. Moore will be great but is coming off surgery and will be a freshman. Coleman, Gaston, and Sikuzanu are unknowns. Gaston showed promise but needs time. While I am wishing, I want a graduate transfer big while ....the young uns develop. I am greedy. Remember that Schaefer can take as many players above 15 as the school will pay for. After an Elite 8 that should open the wallets. I vote for 20.

Mississippi State fans seem to think more than one wants to rejoin the coach they went to Mississippi State to play for. Looking at some of those comments about Nikki McCray Penson they reek of overt racism... And they wonder why players want out of there now that the basketball team has dropped off???
Where are these comments?

I didn't actually state that I expect her to start or make an immediate impact. I expect her to play based on her versatility and skill set. Way too early to predict her true impact.

The two JUCO are to me really longshot help next year. The three high school players are more known commodities. Kobe could help in scoring but her defense is to be kind.....needs a transplant. Sikuzanu is even more a risk. I think she won’t really help until 2022-23. I would love to admit I’m wrong. We’ll see soon. It’s only 2 months till move-in day.

Regarding Kobe....since I’ve been reporting on her. To clear this up.....She only came off the bench one game. She’s back in starter mode. So she’s started every game but one. Averaging about 15 points a game. She’s got skills ....especially offense. But lacks discipline and defense.....not surprising for JUCO play.....especially in the non-competitive Wyoming JUCO scene. I can’t imagine she would be significant early. Late maybe. 2022-23 yes.

Absolutely, we definitely need a player like Carter next season. I was mainly speaking about foul trouble. We have options coming off the bench unlike this season. It's definitely going to be a very interesting off season and I'm very excited to see the moves we make

Unfortunately they don't have an entire forum dedicated to WBB. Hence why I now promote sponsorship of our site. You have to look through all the different threads related to women's basketball, the transfers, the coach, etc.
I'll give you an example. One comment read, "These heathens put George Floyd above Jesus Christ.." There are numerous others in the various threads with that same tone. By the way, I saw some of the same on the OU board.

Just to keep count...MSU players in the portal:
  1. G JaMya Mingo-Young (Alabama)
  2. G Xaria Wiggins
  3. G Madison Hayes
  4. G Aliyah Matharu
  5. F/C Sidney Cooks
  6. C Yemiyah Morris
Am I missing anyone? That's rough but the Bulldogs are still running behind Syracuse with either 8 or 9 in the Portal.

Thanks.

After listening to Coach Vic’s postgame interview from last night, I will not be surprised to see several departures from the team this offseason.

And she is a VERY talented player... saw this one coming also.
I mean, she was highly-ranked in her class. She may have even made a summer USA team at one point, or come close. But, doesn't seem like that translated at Baylor. Typically, the less athletic signees (like Natalie Chou) are the ones who don't fit Baylor's system. Oliver seemed to be super-athletic, but her less-heralded and less athletic cousin (Trinity) has seen much more playing time at Baylor than Jordyn.

As I understand it, we have 15 players for next year with Charli and Kyra leaving. So if everyone is on scholarship we are at the limit. The only way we could get to 16 scholarships is if Kyra were to come back for another year, as the NCAA says the 2021 seniors don't count against you if they come back for another year.

I was assuming because of the P5 deal reached 5 years ago, we are full since that deal says multi-year scholarships can not be pulled for athletic performance reasons. However, in reading this article the majority of scholarships are not multi-year deals and are single year offers. This fact, I would presume, gives Vic the leverage to have a conversation with several players that you can come back but it won't be on scholarship.

NCSA: Are athletic scholarships guaranteed for four years?
