2021 Softball Season

I have always wondered why the Big XII Softball Championship is in OKC. Yes, they have a facility, but it does give ou a Tournament home-field advantage.
 
If you go onto the Texassports site and look at the softball schedule, the times are still listed as TBA. But if you subscribe to their calendar onto your phone or app, then the games Texas will be hosting are listed with the planned game times (my kids have jobs and so it's important to them when they can ask off to go to the games). Ironically, you sign up for the online softball schedule by going to the Texassports.com site.

Knowing coach White, there really is no set lineup. He puts whoever is hitting the best that week in the lineup but my projected first day lineup would be,

in no particular order......

Lauren Burke - RF
Janae Jefferson - 2B
Mary Iakopo - 3B
Shannon Rhodes -CF
Kaitlyn Washington - LF
Courtney Day - 1B(when not pitching)
Colleen Sullivan - C
Alyssa Washington - SS
Ryleigh White - DP

Not sure Ryleigh White will see much hitting time. I could see the following at some point:

This was my original lineup but I didn't put Cantu in there because I didn't know if her offense was up to the level coach White would want. His philosophy tends to be more on the offensive side but he did say Cantu was one of if not the best 3rd baseman he has coached so I can see why you put her in the lineup. Hopefully Singleton works his magic and turns her into a good hitter.

I did put Ryleigh White because she is a power hitter and I was really impressed by her offensively during the fall scrimmage. I believe she is a good enough at bat to where she won't need to be replaced in the lineup when she is pitching.
 
Thanks for throwing something out there for us to discuss. Both of you put Washington at SS, our weakest position the last couple of years. Freshman? She that good from the two fall ball games?

She was injured this fall so did not play in the scrimmages but she is an absolute stud! I saw her play a few times and she is the real deal! Easily has all-american potential. She can do it all on the offensive side whether it be lay a bunt or go the distance. Also has quick speed & her defense compliments that as well because she has a strong arm. I honestly just think it comes down to the offense and she takes the crown in that aspect over other players.
 
All of the top 10 schools have posted their schedules and in my opinion we have one of the 3 toughest schedules. The teams here in the South have it much tougher. Seems UCLA & Washington will not be tested as much. Ragin Cajuns/Alabama/LSU have pretty tough roads ahead as well.

Yeah with UCLA I noticed that they scheduled all but one school that reside in the California area or they play in Cali. I assume they are on a budget as far as traveling goes which I assume is why they have such an easy schedule. I'm glad they even get to have a season in California because at the rate they are at with Covid, I thought it was very unlikely they would get the chance to have any sports in California.

Got the email with links to our downloadable season tickets. It'll be interesting to see the crowd because unlike volleyball or basketball, there was no call to see if we were really interested in going and if we would accept being moved to different seats. We ended up with our regular season ticket location. Sweet!
 

The most important part of this is I counted 23 faces, which means no unexplained disappearance of players on the current roster.
 
Wouldn't it be nice if Coach White had his own weekly or bi-weekly show on LHN. I think he would be great, not to mention the features that could be produced within our team. Maybe I'm too much of a homer...lol. Hookem!
 
Does anyone know where I can find the Mike white press conference??? I looked on the Longhorns YouTube page where the other coaches videos are posted but I can't seem to find his.
