2021 Recruiting - Football

If you are interested in Carrington's situation - this is Mike Roach

I continue to hear that Director of Recruiting Bryan Carrington will be retained by Steve Sarkisian if he wants to stay. While Carrington hasn't been as active on social media as usual, I spoke with multiple recruits who have been in contact with Carrington. From what I've heard, he's been working the phones hard behind the scenes to help the new Texas staff get acquainted with some of the bigger targets in the 2022 class. The response from recruits has been overwhelmingly positive in favor of Carrington staying, so that's definitely a postivie for Texas.

Tennessee players are starting to hit the portal
At least 4 starters, including their 2 leading tacklers. Also an OL and RB.

You would think the Alabama coaches knew them

I feel like Carrington needs to move on, unless he publicly gets on board with the EOT song and isn't a remnant of the malignancy that has supposedly been removed.

In Steve's comments to donors, he made some strong comments that hit home with me:

"Today's youth lack perseverance. They live in a world of instant gratification."

Player needs to feel he earned his position, his scholarship, the right to be here.

Talent does not make a player great. Being competitive, wanting to get better, how they handle adversity, allowing the coaches to make them better.

Discipline is the biggest key; discipline on the field and off the field. Choose what you are supposed to do not what you want to do.

Those statements gave me cold chills.

....How would it work if we did? By pushing the mediocre talent into uncomfortable spots. Take Epps for example. He could be a great TE talent if he were motivated but he clearly is not going to self-motivate. So maybe move him to DE to see how he likes that. Move the other excess WRs into the secondary and special teams. Maybe you get lucky with one of the moves but the reality is that they are not suddenly going to get better at a different position, and so we clear the needed roster space.....

2018 3-star OL Reese Moore to the portal

I agree with him. lol I don't love Austin for the open roads. That's for sure! It's a million other things.

I used to love Austin for a million things, but over the past 30 years almost all of them have eroded away. This isn't the same city I loved in the 80's. If I could not work in Austin (or any major city) and make the same $$ I would never step foot in Austin again.

It's definitely different.

But ...
I love beef ribs on the lake
Shiners at Scholz
Walking on west campus where I met my wife and saw funny debates
Sunset at 360 Bridge
Gingerbread pancakes at Kerby Lane
Walking north on Trinity on Saturday

I'm stopping, but I have more. Lol

When you knew all the bums on the drag.

Today, there are more bums moving in than Californians.

I grew up in Austin, left when I graduated from UT in 1974. Spent a lot of weekends there with family through the late 70's and 80's. When our son went to UT 2000-2004 we got season tickets and were there for every home game. Enjoyed the music scene through those years. I have no desire to spend even a few minutes in that city now.

So we know Californians will love this article but will hypocritically ignore the "white privilege" that screams out loud in the following comment:

"Alder pointed to the high price of energy, water, and services like pool maintenance and landscaping. He also wrote fellow transplants should budget for summer getaways, because "most anyone who can leaves Austin for a month or two" to escape the heat."

Nah, he’s good because his service providers are benefactors of open borders.

Sark confirms that Texas has 8 scholarship spots for Feb signing day--

"We want to make sure we're taking the best people and the best players at this juncture."
