2021 NCAA tournament

I have never watched a game on TV where you could hear individual voices of fans/coaches. It must have been the lack of bodies in the building but it was distracting to watch. The audio engineers of the broadcast must not have managed the microphones or sound equipment well to turn down the background noise. There are probably a couple of mics right by the coaches and fans we could hear.

The Texas WBB did what the men should have done. Get separation and keep it. Avoid injuries due to the free wheeling defense. Petrie was on fire but we never let them get back in the game.
So excited about what Vic has done to Charlie's game. This year's production of double doubles equals the prior two years. There have been some issues like fouls and Baylor but the trajectory is so good. Need to play our best game against UCLA but they really had no competition last night. Layups all night.

I’ve seen the A&M game controversy covered on at least four different shows on ESPN with video. The footage of the charging call against Troy is worse than the backcourt violation in my opinion and it took a basket away from them and fouled out a starter. Wonder what the third questionable call was down the stretch?

Another one of their star players fouled out on what I think was a bogus horrible call after the supposed charging call. The A&M player literally just fell down That makes three bad calls that most likely cost Troy the upset win. I just hate to see it decided that way...

Not in favor of Creme's "re-seeding" proposal, but it's a fun read:

Reseeding the women's NCAA tournament field for the round of 32

21. Texas Longhorns (Original seed: No. 6. Reseed: No. 6)

The Longhorns could have used a full season as much as any team. A new coach, a different system and some new players became a recipe for inconsistency. But just as the regular season was hitting its final two weeks, Texas looked better. A win over Iowa State and two competitive losses to Baylor indicated something was starting to click. It might have for real against Bradley. Texas got off to a good start, didn't turn over the ball, made open shots, was not fully dependent on Charli Collier and never let the Braves back in the game in the 81-62 win. Collier had 23 points and 15 rebounds, but did it efficiently with just 11 shots.

That part about only 11 shots! Good job Charli! :hookem:

I haven't seen UCLA, but IMO whether we learn or lose will determined by how well the guards are hitting baskets. If they are shooting well, it will loosen things up a little for Charli. When they aren't and become too dependent on Charli, we are pretty mediocre.

Watching 2 Maryland and 7 Alabama. 100-64 Maryland wins. What a butt kicking. If I heard right, Maryland's starters had no playing time last season.

Yep. Especially if Ucla uses a zone which their coached used to beat Texas the last time they played each other in the tournament. The perimeter play on this team is always going to be the deciding factor. Because of that I think Ucla wins.

Whoever said that was talking out of their tailpipe. Owusu played in every game last season, started about half, and Diamond Miller was a regular off the bench. Chloe Bibby started almost every game for Vic at Miss State. Benzan, as we all know, sat out at Harvard preparing to transfer and I think Collins was sitting after transferring in from Tennessee.

Some midday observations

1. If we're able to get past UCLA, Maryland would be the best offense we've played against all season. They have the legitimate ability to score from all 5 positions and its really a "pick your poison" when choosing how to defend them. Luckily Vic and Co. would have a few days to gameplan and get ready

2. Joni Taylor is doing some great work at UGA. She is who I wanted at Texas (because I didn't consider Vic as an option)

3. I have really reflected on our transfers, could you imagine how different of a team we would be with Prince, Littleton and C. Patterson still on our squad? Sheeesh

I've considered that a few times myself...
Either Charli or Sedona would've eventually transferred anyway because they both play the same position. Chaz is really the only player for me that I wished had not transferred .

Sedona AND Charli can play either the 4 or 5. I think Vic could have figured that out and most certainly wish Prince would have stayed....

Yes, pretty sure Karen recruited them to play the 4 and 5. Of course I don't know that for sure. The mistake was pulling back on Egbo (it is said she was ready to commit) when Collier switched her commitment to Texas. I would have taken all three, rolled the ball out and let the situation figure itself out. No wonder Queen always plays inspired against us.

Disagree. They both can shoot with range so they likely would’ve spent a majority of time on the court together

Your position is dictated by who you can guard. Sedona nor Charlie have the foot speed and quickness to defend athletic 4 players like Nalyssa Smith consistently nor the perimeter players that are playing the 4 position in conference .
