I linked it above......If anyone finds or knows how to listen to those post game pressers, please link them in here
Thank you in advance
The “non advancing team” press portion is right after Vic on this linkBobcat.....just got through listening. Every time I listen to Schaefer I am amazed. What a great coach. I need to see if they post a losing coach presser as well. I WAS happy to hear Voelpel of ESPNW ask a question. About South Carolina game. For sure she will post a column on this game tomorrow.

Granted I haven't followed women's basketball in 30 years, and I didn't know who Vic Schaefer was, but the day he was hired, I got two phone calls:
1) From a friend that has been in Fayetteville for over 50 years. He thanked me, and said all the ribs I could eat at Herman's every day for you entire visit. I asked for what, and his response was for getting Schaefer out of the SEC.
2) Came an hour later, and started with some a very long string of hyphenated words. This guy has been an employee of oSu for over 40 years. He said that message was to be delivered to CDC for bringing Schaefer into the Big XII.
I'm beginning to see why.
I remember Maryland and Frese knocking us out in the round of 32 in College Park during Karen's second season. And, going way back to 1989, I remember sitting in the stands as Maryland ended Clarissa Davis' career at Texas in the Elite 8 at the FEC.
Glad to finally get a win over them!
Same here! I was living in Maryland in '89 and was a regular attendee at their home games. I was upset when they beat us in that regional final. Ironic that in '89 it was their guard play of Deanna Tate and Carla Holmes that beat us, and last night it was our guard play that beat them. Not saying we didn't get huge contributions from every position, but our guards flat outplayed theirs last night and that was the difference IMO.I remember Maryland and Frese knocking us out in the round of 32 in College Park during Karen's second season. He always seemed very complimentary/on good terms with Karen. Could be some history between him and Vic - his last 3 years at Georgia overlapped with Vic's first 3 at MSU. He was 1-3 against Vic and that was before Vic really got Miss St going.I’ve never liked Landers commentary. He’s got some skins but his arrogance comes through. His unnecessary attempt at humor on the “gas” stuff was embarrassing. I too have noticed his anti-Texas attitude......maybe there is some things from his coaching days.....or our recent struggles.
I thought Lobo and the guy called a great game.... fair and unbiased. Although there were a couple of questionable fouls called that even the announcers said were bad, I thought that was the best officiated game I've seen in this tournament. Dee and her crew did a good job of letting the players decide the outcome.I just think the “experts” were convinced the hype about Maryland was right. But who could blame em, they were setting scoring records and making it look easy? Well, perhaps they should have rolled the tape on some of their losses this year? Isn’t that what experts do? Kudos to Peck, she was the only one to give Texas a prayer in this game.
Also, in the presser, I think it was Cedric Golden (with Celeste) that named Peck for the 80 point guarantee when in fact it was Debbie Antonelli who said it while walking back her “hang a 100 on Texas” comment during a game broadcast. Normally not a big deal, but in this case it is because Peck was the only expert giving Texas a chance.
Now I’m kind of wishing Antonelli would have been an announcer on this game, but based on her commentary during the UCLA game she probably would have been a major wet blanket. I’ve always been a fan of hers, but that changed during this tournament. Does she not like Vic? She sure seems to have a bias against Texas that I’ve never noticed before.
To clarify, I noted that I had not ever noticed in the past that Andy was anti-Texas. So, I've never had an issue with him; I enjoy his commentary and his banter with the other studio hosts, especially with Rebecca Lobo.@Moooooo @flash34 I noticed the same about Landers. I figured maybe there was some underlying bitterness about Vic coming into the SEC and taking Mississippi State from worst to first, and knocking Landers' Georgia team a few pegs was part of that process. That's just an assumption on my part, that may or may not be the case.
Certainly agree about Lobo & Ryan. Lobo is my favorite. I miss Kara Lawson’s commentary these days.I thought Lobo and the guy called a great game.... fair and unbiased. Interestingly enough... it never stood out in the past to me, either. I typically like his commentary. To clarify, I noted that I had not ever noticed in the past that Andy was anti-Texas. I got the impression that Andy and Carolyn had decided (or were told) to take opposite sides for their pregame discussion - perhaps he pushed it a bit to make his side stronger? Anyway, I wish I had been able to hear him after the game.Interestingly enough... it never stood out in the past to me, either. I typically like his commentary.
